Johnny Was hit Sting with Blackthorn [407179]

What's so good about that? Well Blackthorn is my Mageseeker, Blackthorn [5x8500] (+108) worth $87,731,725. And Sting is wearing DBs, and Mikel's DBs are Dodgeball Boots [0] (+324) worth $287,731,112.

I hit them everytime, only one a round, and not enough to win, but still nice...and that's thanks to Dexterity 5,459,163.

Tanks FTW!

Brakke Bres [Ow man] July 24 2009 6:38 AM EDT

yeah DB's aren't the answer...

only a huge amount of AC, ow wait that got nerfed...

only a huge amount of evasion, ow wait that got nerfed...

only a huge amount of GA...

or a much bigger tank with much more nw...

jeesz we got 2 options here, now that is choice for ya.

Shark July 24 2009 6:49 AM EDT

our 2 options?
spend more money when things dont work
spend more money when they do work

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] July 24 2009 7:10 AM EDT

USD should never be the answer on how to play a free online game.

Shark July 24 2009 7:29 AM EDT

I can remember in CB1 where the top 5 players didnt have the total NW equal to them lone boots...things have changed indeed :*(

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 24 2009 7:32 AM EDT

No Silva it is not be when it is a necessary evil in order to get ahead guess what happens? Seriously I have gone to many and I mean many "Free" Online games and let me tell you something. Shocker of shockers guess what? Yup you guessed it they ALL have something for the USD Spender. As a matter of a FACT over 80% of them Cater almost exclusively to USD Spenders as this is what they are looking for on an overall anyway.

I'm sure that this is NOT what Jon/NS are looking for but still what is gonna pay for the Server when it breaks down? How about the Server Upkeep Fees? Or Even the Server Usage Fees? Good Strategy or Goodwill does nothing for it you need the power of the Almighty USD(Since the Server is in America, Elsewhere their money applies.)

I do understand your point Silva so do not think I am trying to bash you or anything ok. I just need you to see my point in this, bashing USD spenders is not cool. When things go wrong it is us that band together and find reasons for buying Items and Item Namings from Jon in order to help. In other words you should at the very least thank us for using our money to help keep this game afloat so that you can play it for free.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] July 24 2009 7:45 AM EDT

its not the USD to jon that gives USD spenders an unfair advantage. Its the USD transfers between players that does it. They can buy huge amounts of cash and spend it on anything, including buying BA, which in terms, also leads to an advantage that USD spenders have over non USD spenders.

In fact most games I know of USD transactions between players is illegal.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 24 2009 8:00 AM EDT

What? AC works great vs. tanks. Especially when used with a ToE.

iBananco [Blue Army] July 24 2009 8:59 AM EDT

Actually, if you had 600K DX, you'd also be landing a hit a round.

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:06 AM EDT

Not against other tanks with big DBs though, nor beating HALs into the ground either.

QBRanger July 24 2009 9:15 AM EDT

I am not sure I understand the meaning of this post.

Is it about dexterity? Since if it is, you would hit Mikel 1 time a round with 2M dexterity.

Is it about the crappy mage seeker bow damage? We all know it sucks. And is almost useless as a primary weapon given PL/TSA/HP minions out there.

Is is another rail against USD? We know the impact of USD on the game. And the pros/cons of it.

I hit Mikel 1 time a round with my HF and ELB and occasionally would get a win if his TSA did not regenerate his HP.

Is this a question about that? I would love to see the TSA's regeneration go away.

I am just confused on the nature/reason of the post.

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:18 AM EDT

Some posts are simply for fun. Make of it what you will. Not everything is serious or overpowered. It's Friday, let your hair down and mix yourself a drink.

Meanwhile, "Is it about the crappy mage seeker bow damage?"?

Remember, that 407179 of mine is the result of a strike against over 300AC....

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:21 AM EDT

Seriously folks, it's not about USD, or anti DBs or anti tanks, it's not railing against drop systems or multi strikes versus mage damage.

Sometimes it's just about celebrating the things I like in the game.

:)

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:25 AM EDT

This is a more typical round using my Mageseeker

Johnny Was hit Jesus with Blackthorn [1006606]
Jesus's Guardian Angel smote Johnny Was (485418)
Johnny Was skewered Jesus with Blackthorn [837469]
Jesus's Guardian Angel smote Johnny Was (252279)
Johnny Was skewered Jesus with Blackthorn [1020377]

QBRanger July 24 2009 9:43 AM EDT

I guess then it was the posts after yours that assumed something.

Congrats on the mage seeker! I still feel it is a wee bit underpowered given Phantom Link.

QBRanger July 24 2009 9:45 AM EDT

Dog hit Alive with The Lunatic [744595]
Eat absorbs damage [744595]
Dog shot Alive with The Lunatic [539746]
Eat absorbs damage [539746]

vs 367 AC. with a x20k ELB.

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:50 AM EDT

Johnny Was shot Alive with Blackthorn [176276]
Eat absorbs damage [176276]
Johnny Was shot Alive with Blackthorn [231843]
Eat absorbs damage [23693]

That's when you see the difference between the bows. But then again, not only ELB against Mageseeker, but x20000 ELB against X8500 Mageseeker.

I tell you what though, it may be my imagination, but over a certain upgrade point my damage jumped, I'm sure.

I did get dropped on my head when I was younger though.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] July 24 2009 9:53 AM EDT

"let your hair down and mix yourself a drink."

just to make jw happy, i am having a tequila sunrise for breakfast instead of coffee. cheers! ; )

Demigod July 24 2009 9:54 AM EDT

In regards to Mikel's minion with <600k dex:

D7: Actually, if you had 600K DX, you'd also be landing a hit a round

Ranger: ...you would hit Mikel 1 time a round with 2M dexterity

If you guys don't mind clarifying something for me, I thought that having any amount of dexterity greater than the opponent meant you generally get a hit, and that there is no benefit in having FAR more than the opponent.

In other words, if your opponent has 550k Dex, you hold the exact same advantage whether your Dex is 551k or 10 mil.

QBJohnnywas July 24 2009 9:59 AM EDT

It is true. The reason I have over 5 mill of the magic dex is to give me an advantage over other tank/hal teams who have similar amounts. But if you as a tank were only going after mage teams then you don't need quite as much as I've got...especially once your weapon + gets high enough.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] July 24 2009 10:15 AM EDT

what about multiple hits then?

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] July 24 2009 10:20 AM EDT

The most dex you would ever need is 3.5 times the opponent and that is with a 2 handed weapon.

Sickone July 24 2009 11:45 AM EDT

Well... to be fair, he's only need +199 named boots to get the exact same result :)
+199 DBs would be, what, 41 mil NW ?
;)

Sickone July 24 2009 11:47 AM EDT

"he'd only need", correction.

Basically, he has 243 mil NW wasted, doing absolutely nothing (against you anyway) :D

No, the DX advantage increases (to a point) as your ratio of DX: their DX improves, until you're doing 1.6 hits/round due to DX advantage.

Also, the title to this thread is so clever. :)

Demigod July 24 2009 12:04 PM EDT

I can't find that in the Wiki. But from the look of it, the Dexterity page could use a bit more work...

Cube July 24 2009 12:06 PM EDT

"Also, the title to this thread is so clever. :)"

I want to express my complete agreement with this statement. Lovely title.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] July 24 2009 12:39 PM EDT

Everything OB said is correct except for the 1.6 part of this statement "until you're doing 1.6 hits/round due to DX advantage." Depending on your weapon this number could be anywhere from 1.4-2, 1.4 for 2h melee weapons, and 2 for the Elb. So for JW to get the max dex advantage he would need 1.99/.99 more dex than his opponent or 2.01 x as much dex. For me with an SoD, I would need 2.66 as much DX. Of course since Mikel has DBs much larger than JW's pth it lowers his DX advantage down to .99, which is why he hits once per round.
