Dear Tourney Characters (in General)

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 4:34 PM EDT

Please make sure you auction off all the real rares that you're pulling out of the market before this tourney ends so that way we don't lose even more from the very limited stock available to those who could actually use it for more than a month.

That is all.

DoS August 4 2009 4:36 PM EDT

I won't be doing that. Sorry.

QBRanger August 4 2009 4:37 PM EDT

Why?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 4 2009 4:38 PM EDT

Doesn't it make more sense to have the money in the system more than the items. Since the amount of items didn't get decreased, but money did.

QBRanger August 4 2009 4:40 PM EDT

Money can be made.

Rares are limited in their amount.

And if you do not want to spend the money on the rare, do not buy it.

But we have T characters spending essentially monopoly money they make at a rate faster than NUBs buying rares sometimes for much more than they are worth.

DoS August 4 2009 4:51 PM EDT

If I do sell them back, I will sell for what I paid. Anyone interested?

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 4:52 PM EDT

Take the DBs I was just outbid on for instance. 1mil is more than their average NW so I only threw 855k on it. It took me a week or so to farm that up.

I was outbid on them by a Tourney character who is it at 100k MPR and was made three days ago.

Tourney Characters make way too much, way too fast and pull items that would actually be useful after the tourney is done out of the system.

QBRanger August 4 2009 4:54 PM EDT

Again why D8?

Just to be spiteful about paying more for rares with a T character and its funny money?

DoS August 4 2009 4:55 PM EDT

Did you know that NUBs make money faster?

Well, they do. Their bonus is higher and they are capable of making just as much as we are. Even more, really.

DoS August 4 2009 4:56 PM EDT

Ranger, you seem more than willing to take our funny money off our hands.

I chose not to buy from you because your prices were outrageous.

If the community really wants these items, like tournament characters, then they should be willing to fork out what we pay.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 4:57 PM EDT

Show me a NUB who is four days old with over 4mil NW D8.

Tourney characters cause the prices to rise on items and they generally don't even put them back into the system.

Also, why in the world would I pay a character that won't be useful after the tourney is over as much as he blew of his fake cash to pull it out of the system in the first place?

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] August 4 2009 4:58 PM EDT

No a nub does not make money faster than a tourney char. And no I will not sell back items once I have bought them because if I do it would sell for less than what I paid for it and then I would only be introducing extra money into the game instead of introducing extra money will reducing the amount of items.

Generally the reason why a tourney char would pay more for an item is because they need it immediately.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 4:59 PM EDT

Trollskin Armor 252 $2,324,537 $1,885,276

Thank you for lowering that number even more Nem. Same with the DBs.

DoS August 4 2009 5:00 PM EDT

I can't show you a nub that is only 4 days old with that much net worth, but I can show you an experienced nub with your said example in only 4 days. Don't forget that their tattoo inflates their net worth greatly.

Why shouldn't I take out as much as I put into the community?

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 5:00 PM EDT

Generally the reason why a tourney char would pay more for an item is because they need it immediately.

Also, how in the world would a character who is only going to exsist for a month need a rare over a player who is going to be using it for atleast six months?

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:01 PM EDT

Yes,

I am trying to make a profit off T characters that have an urgent need for item.

Characters that have a limited time frame.

You did not like my prices and did not want to buy them. Do not get mad at me for offering items that you needed at a premium. You seem to really have a problem with that.

I have played in a few tourneys and paid a premium for items that would help me urgently.

I am not in the Tourney, but typically the bonus is 500%, which is higher than the current NUB.

Also, there are restrictions on T characters in this particular tourney about what items they can use. NUB characters have none.

But again,

Why are you do mad at having to pay a higher price for rares you urgently need to help you win the tourney?

So mad that you are being very spiteful about putting those items back into the community when the tourney, and that character is done?

BTW, my prices were not outrageous. They were high, but not 3x normal as you infer in your FS post.

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:05 PM EDT

And these were the outrageous prices I was asking:

550k for a base MS
900k for a 389k NW CML

No where near out of line. High yes, but out of line, no way.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 5:06 PM EDT

I'm hoping that more people will read this thread so I'm saying this one time...

DO NOT SELL TO TOURNEY CHARACTERS! KEEP OUR RARES IN THE ACTUAL GAME!

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:08 PM EDT

SG,

That is a hard thing to state.

People will always see T characters as a way to make money. And they are right.

One can only hope people realize that while they use CB to buy those items, they are removed from the game if not auctioned back. And the money they are using is "monopoly money", that was never really theirs to begin with.

And that if a T character need an item, due to time constraints of the tourney, expect to pay a bit more. And not complain about it.

DoS August 4 2009 5:09 PM EDT

Eh, sorry if it seems that I am coming off a bit steamed. I really don't care as much as you are making it out to sound.

You are correct, it was not 3x the usual amount. I rounded up a bit.

Anyway, the point is that I'll happily take out as much money as I put in, but no less.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 4 2009 5:09 PM EDT

once again, we need to have t chars spawn with the items they want or a separate store for them with all the items they can use available. if that change cannot be implemented, then we need to have slayer supply the allowed items.

i am actually perfectly fine with limiting all tourney characters to non rare store items only. that would be more fair than the hit and miss approach we have now.

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:10 PM EDT

Again why?

The money your buy the items for is at a premium due to the reasons above.

Why force a normal character, NUB or not, to pay the premium you did just to get that item?

Would it not be best to put the item into auctions at a 1 min and no BIN? And let the market decide how much it sells for?

I believe T characters cannot set a BIN for their items in auctions.

I do not know if they can set a minimum.

Lefty August 4 2009 5:11 PM EDT

Anyway, the point is that I'll happily take out as much money as I put in, but no less.
---

This is a good point.

If we don't do this, we are essentially adding said "monopoly" money into the game and allowing it to become in-game money, for nothing if rares get put back in..

How is that good for an economy that's already on a decline?

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:12 PM EDT

I agree 100% with Dude's post.

That would accomplish quite a lot, including making the T fair and equal.

I think that was sort of done in 1 tourney. The one where Koy was the prize.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 5:18 PM EDT

Yes, its a harsh thing to say but when they're pulling in the rares that could be used by a team that will actually be played for more than a month and not putting them back out into the market, then I see no reason to even offer them the chance to take our gear.

Also, I'd like to bring up an idea that Ranger said in CMs with me:

But i agree 100%, they should be put back in the system, perhaps base since it is funny money they are being upgraded with.

How about an admin goes through and cleans out all the rares that were used by tourney characters, turns them back into base items and pushs them back out into the auctions? That way no rares were harmed in the making of a tourney.

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:19 PM EDT

Lefty,

That is a great point.

However.

Right now let us say a T character buys a rare, a corn, for 4M CB.

That is 8M extra into the economy and 1 less corn.

Then the T character auctions it. And it sells for 2M, normal price.

So what is the net result of either:

1) The T character selling it. 2M extra in the economy and a corn.

2) The T character not selling it. 4M extra in the economuy.

3) The T character trying to sell it for 4M. 4M extra in the economy as likely nobody will by a corn with a BIN of 4M.

Which is best? I say 1. As that rare, which is limited, is back in the hands of people who can use it.

My numbers are a bit extreme and I agree, but the principle is the same.

Either way, once the T character buys an item for an inflated price, that money enters the system. ONLY if he can find a sucker, ooops I mean player, to rebuy it at the inflated price, does it become a total Zero Sum event.

QBRanger August 4 2009 5:20 PM EDT

Ooops

That is 8M extra into the economy and 1 less corn.

Should read

That is 2M extra into the economy and 1 less corn. 2M extra NW since a corn normally sells for 2M base.

Almaisky August 4 2009 5:44 PM EDT

I probably won't sell them back either. If people want to charge us ridiculous prices for rares, I'm keeping them.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 4 2009 5:45 PM EDT

I will be DE'ing my MSK and selling it back for the exact same thing I bought it. Also, I would request that all of those that made hundreds of thousands on our L tats buy them back from us.

Tyriel [123456789] August 4 2009 5:55 PM EDT

"If people want to charge us ridiculous prices for rares, I'm keeping them."

And if you don't want to buy rares at ridiculous prices, you don't have to. :)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 4 2009 5:58 PM EDT

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 6:03 PM EDT

Our cake are the rares Titan. The only people eating them are the Tourney characters.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 4 2009 6:06 PM EDT

You want to have our money, and all the rares. No thanks, I've decided to keep all of mine.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 6:13 PM EDT

Broad generalizations are broad.

I've yet to sell anything to a tourney character. I just want them to keep their filthy "free money" out of the auctions when it comes to items of worth to a real team.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 4 2009 6:16 PM EDT

As much as it might be fake. It's been anything but free. I've gotten about 8 hours of sleep the past 3 days.

iBananco [Blue Army] August 4 2009 6:22 PM EDT

Let me get this straight. You're all complaining about the money loss from drops. Now you're complaining that tourney characters are pumping free money into the system.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 6:24 PM EDT

Its your choice to not sleep Titan.

And D7, we're complaining about the fact that every rare taken by this tourney will probably never see the light of day after its over. As it is -every- time a tourney is run. We lose more rares to these idiotic Tournaments than we do to people quitting.

Rawr August 4 2009 6:29 PM EDT

"Tourney characters cause the prices to rise on items and they generally don't even put them back into the system. "

... Good. I like it when prices are high. That means when/if I am selling items, I will get more money. For the consumer, yes, you want more items in the market so prices are lower. For the seller, no, you want less items so that the prices are higher and you get more money.

QBRanger August 4 2009 6:29 PM EDT

SG,

It is their choice to do what they want.

We have presented our discussion on why we think they should put the rares back into the system.

It is up to them to decide what to do.

QBOddBird August 4 2009 6:39 PM EDT

We lose more good forum space to these idiotic threads than we do Tourneys.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 4 2009 7:10 PM EDT

This is the Off Topic Section, I could make a thread for people to post the ABCs letter by letter and it would still fit just fine here.

QBJohnnywas August 4 2009 7:11 PM EDT

Before we start on people paying money they're earning - monopoly or not, they're still earning it - perhaps we should look around and see what's being hoarded around the game, just sitting there and not being used.

If all of that went back into the game there would most likely be enough to go around everyone who needed something.

iBananco [Blue Army] August 4 2009 7:35 PM EDT

"We're complaining about the fact that every rare taken by this tourney will probably never see the light of day after its over."

This is bad because?

TheHatchetman August 4 2009 7:50 PM EDT

*cough* 274 Displacement Boots extant *cough*cough*choke*sneeze* 227 active users from the past 7 days *cough*

*clears throat*

Whoo! That was a bad one

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] August 4 2009 7:55 PM EDT

If I could easily manage a supply of rares and give these to every tourney player every time anyone needed one, sure I would. But I can't, so I wont.

Consider the extra CBD a Slayer Stimulus Package.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- August 4 2009 8:03 PM EDT

I think you're ALL wrong because you all seem to be forgetting that most tournaments have prizes in CBD and rare items...

It more than evens out.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] August 5 2009 1:53 AM EDT

Jira, it only evens out for those that win the tourney. After this one is over, I'll go through and we can total up the average worth of all the rares lost compared to the 40mil that is the prize.

Cube August 5 2009 2:12 AM EDT

I don't see why you're all flaming him so hard. It's not a horrible request that you auction them back.

It'd be nice, and it doesn't cost you anything (except for the minor decrease in price if you ever choose to sell one of the items you auction back.

That said, it's not a huge deal. However, it's akin to wasting ~96 black market votes however, and I thought most people were in favor of black market voting.

Cube August 5 2009 2:14 AM EDT

Ignore the double 'however' and lack of end parenthesis. It's late. I'm tired. Good night all.

NooneKnows August 5 2009 2:18 AM EDT

personally, I don't see why using T char's as an item sink is so bad.

I don't really have a problem with the cash sink from which the drop system is supposed to distract us, either, but that's a can of worms for another thread.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] August 5 2009 2:19 AM EDT

One interesting thing to note is that on that auction for the DB central bank was willing to bid it higher too.

Sickone August 5 2009 2:30 AM EDT

"And no I will not sell back items once I have bought them because if I do it would sell for less than what I paid for it and then I would only be introducing extra money into the game instead of introducing extra money will reducing the amount of items. "

Bad logic.

You're NOT introducing extra money into the game when you sell your tournament items - you are DESTROYING money from the game.
You are introducing money into the game when you BUY the items on a tournament character from a non-tournament character.
Buying rares from system auctions is cash-neutral.

Also, what's stopping you from disenchanting the rares to base and putting them up on auction just as the tournament is nearly over ?
You're not putting any NW into the game, and you're also removing CB$ from the economy.

TheHatchetman August 5 2009 2:57 AM EDT

I personally don't see the issue with rares being rare, or even perhaps just uncommon...

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 5 2009 3:00 AM EDT

But, he got a rare and I didn't wahahahahaa.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 5 2009 4:42 AM EDT

SG, while Tourny characters get increased money rewards, they (if not limited by the Tourny rules itself) have a limited lifespan, and can't, for exmaple, have spent two weeks prior to their creation saving up CBD to purchase Rares.

As for them taking rares from the game, I think there's far more wasteage on inactive characters than Tourny ones...

winner winner August 5 2009 7:57 AM EDT

Thank you to all the tournament characters that bought my items and please don't sell them back. :) Thanks again
