Random Drop Log? (in General)

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] August 7 2009 1:17 AM EDT

I was just wondering about this, and feel free to ignore this thread and laugh at me if it already exists somewhere. I would like to see a log, somewhere perhaps in the Community section, that shows who has gotten what rares and when. Make it searchable like transfers or the store purchase log. I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement.

This would be good for several reasons. It lets the community see who has gotten what, just for curiousity's sake. As long as I've known CB, we're always been able to track what people get, when, and how. For the first time ever with random drops we have no idea what people have as far as rares. CB is great because of how much information we can look up. Also, maybe this would put a stop to the endless threads about who got what!

But that's my random idea of the night. Thanks for listening!

I like it.

I also like it. Great idea!
Search parameters you can search for a specific person, item or maybe even a date. Thought would make things far more accessible to the community.

I would feel sorry for the person who has been getting good drops but keeping quiet about it.

It's be useful.
1. Tournaments
2. If you'd like to sell futures on your drops heh.

Shark August 7 2009 5:26 AM EDT

curiosity is over rated and expensive in most cases regarding CB :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 7 2009 6:18 AM EDT

i fully support this.

QBJohnnywas August 7 2009 6:25 AM EDT

"For the first time ever with random drops we have no idea what people have as far as rares."

Not true actually. Special items and supporter items when purchased don't show up on the transfer logs.

QBJohnnywas August 7 2009 6:28 AM EDT

As it happens, the transfer logs that we can access don't actually go back very far. The community transfer log only goes back a couple of days and my own transfer log only goes back to June.

Good idea.

QBRanger August 7 2009 9:31 AM EDT

I agree and disagree.

Hear me out before you flame me.

It would be nice to have a log of what items dropped, but I would not like to know who dropped them. Unless that person wishes to give that information.

Perhaps they get a RBF, if it were me, I would not like everyone to know since people may CM me trying to buy it, esp if I do not want to sell it.

Also, perhaps I do get a nice tattoo that I wish to try. It would be nice to have it as a surprise one day to use. Nobody would have any idea since it would not show up on any logs in the game.

On the other hand, it would be nice to see who is winning the lottery and who is not.

Basically, meh. If we get this log, ok, if not, ok also.

Drama [Just for fun] August 7 2009 9:40 AM EDT

I've missed the older post and I'm asking myself: what are the random drops. Can anyone make me a really short definition please. It's seems to be important and it touches everyone and I'm not sure what it is :s

Thank you

Demigod August 7 2009 10:09 AM EDT

Trip,

Half of the rare items now spawn as rewards for winning fights. The drop rate seems to be very low, however. I have no clue about the rate, but I would make a wild guess that it's around 1:10-15k fights.

It's a great idea and will negate the drop threads in the forums.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] August 7 2009 12:08 PM EDT

I like the idea though I think it would be divisive.

QBsutekh137 August 7 2009 12:29 PM EDT

Rubberduck, the system already IS divisive. That's what randomness in a strategy game tends to do. If it needs to be divisive AND hidden, then that is tacit admission that the system is not good for the community.

If the community wants to have this system around, we should get to see the distribution of drops to fully understand how things are levelling out over time.

And if the community doesn't want this around, it should rail against the drop system until it gets changed or tweaked.

There is absolutely no reason this information shouldn't be available for analysis. Er, I mean, there ARE reasons, not a single one of them good. And no, it doesn't have to be user-specific, but it should show things like drop times and totals, grouped by anonymous, token user IDs. We have meta-stats on just about everything else, why not this?

BHT August 7 2009 12:37 PM EDT

EXCELLENT Idea. I will be very surprised if this is not implemented.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] August 7 2009 12:44 PM EDT

Sut I agree with what you are saying but it does require us to ascribe the community with some common sense :P

Unappreciated Misnomer August 7 2009 3:39 PM EDT

this sound like a good add for the change, though i dont like the random drops, ive made less money since then and only score a base katana, so meh, i wish for the random drops to disappear and bring back camping, thats what this really is a crappy new camping set up.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- August 7 2009 3:41 PM EDT

I suggested this exact same thing about 2? days after the change happened, talked to NS directly about it, and he said that Jon wouldn't go for it, and he didn't really see the point of such a page existing.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 7 2009 3:54 PM EDT

Have any tourney chars gotten any drops?
