achievements (in General)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 15 2009 1:18 PM EDT

admiralkiller gave me an idea in the tutorial thread that should be fairly easy to implement if we think it is a good idea.

since it is always nice to get congratulated at our character milestones, why not have the system generate a congratulations message for players when they tick off each 1m mpr mark. if that isn't too overwhelming, perhaps we could add others later as well?

it could be as simple as creating a message in the general forum with this title:

Congratulations to El Fuego on reaching 1,000,000 mpr!

followed by this message in the body:

Everyone give a round of applause for dudemus' character el fuego for reaching the 1,000,000 mpr milestone. Woot!

I like this idea. I think I can figure it out with Jon's help.

I also like this idea. maybe a checklist to show what you have accomplished available for everyone to see. Yes I really like the idea of having the message in the "body". Not sure if you mean chat or forums. If in chat most of the small ones would have to be in New players chat and the larger ones in Carnage so as not to seem like spam.

anything to promote encouragement to the game has my vote.

This could even be put in a separate forum part as to not clutter General but perhaps Public Record could be used as well?

Demigod August 15 2009 1:40 PM EDT

Ditto to the idea. I also like the idea of having the system congratulate the milestone by giving, say, 100k for 1mil, 200k for 2 mil, 300k for 3mil, etc. But that could also open a can of worms as far as untraining to keep hitting the benchmark.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 15 2009 1:43 PM EDT

yep i wanted it in forums and not chat. a new or reusing another forum to keep it out of general is fine, but when the community congratulates now general is usually used and it would be nice to see these in the main forum.

at some point it would be cool to have a list of these achievements but i would rather not wait on that to start the posts. ;)

That's an awesome idea.

Congrats are supposed to go into OT... It's just that there isn't as much admin activity as there used to be.

Prod them back to awake-ness NS. Also, yay for achievements! I might actually try on my next NCB.

Great Idea!

Demigod, if you had a checklist of someone's achievements, i would assume that it would mark off that you had reached that achievement and not give recognition of that same achievement on the same character.

"It's just that there isn't as much admin activity as there used to be."

Maybe we could have a new type of Op? Forum Op? The admins may benefit from having less tasks, and the forum ops could be totally dedicated to keeping things nice and civilized...

I know nothing about admin responsibilities, I'm just saying :)

I like this idea I have said a few things about it myself as far as the Achievements. The implementation though I think is a bit better generating a Thread for a Major Milestone is nothing short of awesomeness!:D It would be cool to get some kind of badge attached to your char too for each Achievement Unlocked.

BootyGod August 15 2009 9:37 PM EDT

NS, I think the problem lies with the number of active admins, not the activity of the admins we have. But I could be wrong ^_^

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 16 2009 12:36 PM EDT

forum ops would be cool, basically just to move stuff around and such or giving chat ops the ability to move things around in forums.
