On part of the Exbow (in General)

TheHatchetman August 29 2009 3:17 PM EDT

for the sake of this thread, I would request that all other Exbow issues be reserved for elsewhere :P My issue is that in the first round, me and enemy tank are supposedly firing our projectiles at the same time (at least that's how I've always thought of it).

Round 1, my team
Krod shot Eoyane [88592]

Round 1, Eoyane
Eoyane looks weaker!
Eoyane shot Aneka with Misfire of the Idiotz [245]
Eoyane hit Aneka with Misfire of the Idiotz [285]
Eoyane hit Aneka with Misfire of the Idiotz [264]

While again, I'm not trying to adress whether dropping damage from a sizable tank to under 300 damage a shot with one hit is overpowered, or how much damage I did. For all intents and purposes, we'll say that the ST drain here was perfectly "fair and balanced" (like Fox News :P). But, If Eoyane's arrows took flight at the same time my bolt did, why is the damage so severely reduced?

I would imagine this is an attack order thing, and that if Eoyane was attacking me, they'd get normal damage their first round with the drain being applied in round 2. So are the rounds slightly more off than I'd originally assumed? Like, do the war horns sound and the battle starts, or is Eoyane just chilling there, then catches a bolt in the chest and turns around (yup, a bolt in the chest from behind... gotta love the seeking power of pth :P)to see my Freedom Fighters coming over the hill and starts retaliating however feebly he can manage with crippled ST?

Offender and Defender timing has always been different from 'at the same time'.

Offender (as far as I know) always shoots first.

I figured attacker got first shot...

Lochnivar August 29 2009 3:23 PM EDT

as the two previous posters mentioned, attackers do indeed fire first..

This actually creates the possibility of two chars who are actually able to farm each other equally (cool eh).

From a programming standpoint, it is impossible for both minions to act at once. One process must go first. In CB, technically the attacker's minions "go first" but we have the illusion that they attack at the same time.

yep it must have happen somewhere in old time hunting tribes war..2 archer firiing at each other before one got hit by the arrow of the other.. must have something to do with the exbow... hahaha
but well noticed Hatchetman

i really think your shot should have been of normal intensity, especially the first one...ok good luck

but if you hit him 3 time and him only once you must be close of being able to dodge his arrows...

Han shoots first.

Sweet, makes sens then :P

"and starts retaliating however feebly he can manage with crippled ST?"

she :\

RaptorX September 6 2009 9:50 AM EDT

Then does the attacking team's first minion only go first then the defending first minion then the attacking team's second minion then the defending teams second minion. etc.?

Daz September 6 2009 10:21 AM EDT

"From a programming standpoint, it is impossible for both minions to act at once."

Actually, it isn't.

Store everything involved in the turn in variables, resolve one persons attack, using the stored variables, resolve the second persons attack.

Or even easier:
Resolve the first attack but don't apply damage or other effects. Store them in variables. Resolve the second attack. Now apply both sets of damage simultaneously.

Sure, the attacks aren't executed at the same time, but the end result is simultaneous attacks.

IMO,

This clearly demonstrates how utterly stupid the exbow is.

In that 1 hit can change the entire battle.

Daz September 6 2009 11:42 AM EDT

When I attack him, I stalemate. I kill most of his guys in the opening few rounds (at 436046 or more damage), but then spend all of the rest of the time triple-hitting his other guy for 200 points of damage. His bow guy rarely actually strikes flesh, but when it does it brutalises my damage output. If he misses in the first 3 rounds of ranged, I think I actually get the kill, but if I get hit in any of them, I'll stalemate.

(Note, I have since changed from the ELB in the OP, to a much smaller MSK)

Ranger I agree, exbow is still an amazing weapon, and anyone who can afford one and has more than one minions really needs one. You can still force every tank to wear DBs, it just takes a whopping 500k ST now.
