Petition: Get rid of drop system. (in General)
After so many threads of complaints and the utter lack of respect towards the drops system, I vote we get rid of it.
Anyone Else?

I vote to remove the drop system and restore rewards to their previous levels.
I agree, abolish the drop system!

I actually disagree. While crappy drops should not exist, I see it as a spice for the game. Just like the fight feed, it needs some tweaking, but it can dress up the game a bit.
Petitions...I think we will soon regret having them in the first place, when the devs make a change to remind to "be careful what we wish for" :P
Just a thought. Oh, and I'm signing this.

I would vote yes on this petition, but then NeoJapan would accuse me of just trying to advance my unfair advantage.

I vote we don't make polls of such an extreme nature right after someone else makes a post about discussing the topic.

September 16 2009 5:03 PM EDT
I would not say do away with it completely.
However, something more or different would be a better addition to CB.
If something else cannot be thought of or enacted, then I would really like to abolish this feature.
Just like being able to turn off the fight feed addition.
I vote all the drops go to me before shutting down this system.

"Hey. You know what sucks? That new "automobile" thing. It's loud and noisy. Also heard it's pretty dangerous."
"Oh, really? Why do you bring it up?"
"Well, I wanted to abolish them from existense."
"Don't you think you should give it some time? Or help make it better?"
"Huh? No. Better to just get rid of it than to try anything else. Change is scary, anyways. Now, where did that horse wander off to..."

Maybe it should be tweaked so that the drop rate is higher for opponents with higher challenge ratings :)

"Oh, really? Why do you bring it up?"
"Well, I wanted to find out if those things don't abolish us from existence."
"Don't you think you should give it some time? Or help make it better?"
"Huh? No, better to develop the car a bit more so they don't cause wars in the future and that they don't need so much gas to work with. I think in a 100 years our economy will be in the toilet and we need just get rid of it, now where did I leave the plans for this perpetuum mobile"

Cannot but add my vote in favour of getting rid of the drop system..
I think its funny that a forger created this petition.
/me honestly wonders why you are not getting any drops.. o.o..
Yes I am a forger, but that doesn't matter to me...
I am not complaining about not getting drops, I am attempting to help the people that are.

Drops should happen much more often and leave rewards where they are.
If they are to be spice, and salt is a spice, well, I put salt into most things I cook. :-)
I want MORE spice, not less. Keep the drops! If it becomes too spicy for you, don't eat the food.
The key is making drops an extra, and one that EVERYONE would have a use for.
i vote remove it also, dont increase the rewards but fix wacky money time to make it give you *gasp* more cash.

I hope if anything comes from this, its that they remove the drops and we don't get our money back.
as stated in other threads, how do we know that the 20% was already a plan in effect, and the drops were extra.
And I never ever say Ranger has an unfair advantage on anything, just that he ALWAYS complains if someone is able to beat him and pumping more NW INSTEAD of changing the strat doesn't fix the problem. now he can't buy all of his BA ='(

Once again for those in the back row who could not hear:
This is the exact changelog from the drop system thread:
"Half of all rares will now be granted as rewards in battle, in addition to cash and XP.
(That is why cash rewards have been decreased a little.)
To start things off I've put 20 amulets of junction into the reward pool."
To read that anything other than a relationship between the drop and the money drop is just foolish.
What in the "That is WHY cash rewards have been decreased a little" is not understandable? And Jon clarifies a little as 20%.
Now to a point someone made about me:
I complain when someone beats me using a bugged item or bugged skill. Or one that has no rhime or reason.
I can buy all my BA and have no problems buying a million CB if needed.
This is just about and only about this system which in no way makes gameplay better but in fact hurts those who cannot buy CB. Much more than it hurts me.
Who is this Neo_Japan guy and why does he think he's important again?

Jir, what does that last comment even do? He's been around for longer than you, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm staying out of this one, but it is funny how more people are taking note of the amount of complaining that can come from one player.
QBRanger
September 16 2009 9:01 PM EDT
It is also funny how some people get to express their opinions, esp direct attacks on people, freely without sequela.
But someone making comments about how the game may be improved gets attacked personally. And those negative comments are defended by others. People are noticing that as well.

Then you're a hypocrite... Neo didn't say anything to you in this thread, you shoved words into his mouth, stuff he never said and later says he didn't even mean, due to a disagreement in another thread. So by definition of your so called "attack" you attacked him in this thread.
I don't even see how it could be considered an "attack" ... people are due to get fed up with constant complaining (no matter who it is) and not see eye to eye. Others will hang on every word. You should be able to take a little criticism if all you are doing 90% of your time here is dishing it out yourself... albeit not to a player, but the game in general.

classic response, and expected nothing more from you.
Or you all could become forgers, then expect NOTHING to make it anymore fun and exciting, and be done with arguing, as we've come to expect no forging changemonths.

You have to sympathize with the forgers, you all have banded together for quite a while asking for a bone, and still continue to wait for it to be tossed.
:D I was only kidding around about Neo, honestly I don't know who he is as he isn't a very active voice in the community at least I've only seen maybe 3 posts from him total... I was just goofing off mainly because of his name being "neo".
:D.
Although in hindsight not a very good joke considering the punch line isn't something anyone on CB would know :O
"Who is this Neo and why does he think he's important"
an old old matrix parody joke >_<

I do not want it removed. I just want to see it more balanced.
Right now, there is no point in having it. 40 different people saying they haven't received a drop in a long time and all of us losing 20% of our money isnt a crowd pleaser.

I think tweaks are more appropriate than all-out abolishment of a new system that's fallen out of favor with the players.

I could take the ENTIRE debate around this change more seriously if other post didn't say something along the lines of "I haven't gotten a drop yet. Get rid of it."
No one particularly cares if you're selfish. At least PRETEND to be objective about it. Though, to be fair, people's personal feelings should matter. If the change is good, but people dislike it on principle, does it matter if it was a "logically" good change?
Still, I can't believe so many are just so SET on getting completely rid of this. So real debate, no why. Just "I didn't get a drop, I don't like it." or "It's taking me too long to buy what I want. Get rid of it."
I mean, how different would this situation be if the 20% reduction came 3 months before the drop thing. People are just SO focused on getting more money, no items, that they don't stop to consider that, hey, maybe the 20% is just non-negotiable.
I keep waiting for Jon to just remove the drops and move on. I'd hate it, but I'd get a few seconds of sick laughter from it.
I vote it stays and the 20% is decreased to 10% or 5%.
Because as far as I understand no one gets enough drops to make up for the 20% less reward gain.

I wonder if they would have if anybody had not told them.

GW,
Have you not read the past posts and the changelog itself?
The 20% reduction was in response to the drops. It is very obvious if one reads the actual changelog.
And a lot of us have been against this drop system from the first week it came out, even before we received any drops.
And some of us, myself included, are still against it even though I am likely ahead given the drops I have received over time.
I could take this ENTIRE debate more seriously if some people were not so into change for change sake and think about what is good for the long term health of the game and the happiness of its players.
You have to have happy players to have a happy game. People not getting drops while seeing others get million dollar items is not good for the long term health of the game.
As I and others have stated from when this system FIRST CAME ABOUT.
in the year from august 2008 to august 2009, liquid assets increased from 5.4 million to over 7 million. that is about a 30% increase in a period that was roughly only 20 percent of cb2's lifespan.
total item net worth in the same period increased from over 37m to approximately 53.4m. that was an increase of around 44% for one year.
regardless of the original wording it is not a stretch to believe that these factors may have some influence on us ever getting the reduction in cash rewards back in the same form.
QBRanger
September 17 2009 8:48 AM EDT
Dude,
It is great to make inferences, however, I read the exact wording of the changelog and see that Jon wanted a Zero-Sum event.
So right now, unless he chimes in, I cannot see where he was going to give us a 20% cash reduction.
One also has to look at the increased rewards ones gets as one fights higher. The rewards at 7M score are a lot higher than those at 2M score.
And, while I do not have the exact numbers, scores have been climbing rather high with novice and his 9+M PR.
posted before coffee! those numbers above are all billions rather than millions. the percentages are the same though. :0
ranger, one of the negative aspects of this change that was highly anticipated was that prices would inflate due to lack of cash in the game.
wouldn't the opposite hold true though if the change hadn't taken place seeing the numbers from a year ago as compared to today?
in effect, if the 20% is reinstated, won't the rampant growth cause just the opposite and is the 20% reduction likely just keeping prices much more stable than without it?
