QB or not QB? [QB edition] (in Debates)

That is the question!

What does the QB, or Quarter Blender, title mean to you?
Would you like to see the QB election process revived?
Does the QB title as it is mean the same thing it did in CB1/early CB2?

What changes, if any, would you like to see to the QB?

As the last QB, I think it means maybe more to me than anyone.
I'd been running a semi-subversive campaign for QB for years, even before I knew what I was doing.

QB is about being a part of the game, and not just any part... a GOOD part of the game. I think the fine folks who preceded me in receiving this honor exemplify the great contributions each one made to the community. It's the lasting effect on the game as a whole that matters, not popularity, not generosity (though it helps), and not your status on the score ladder.

That list is hardly complete in my opinion, there are many other folks who deserve recognition for the part they've played in making this game awesome. The folks who are on that list deserve to stay there, as they each continue to have a long lasting effect on the game.

QB's aren't allowed to keep it civil, and don't you forget it!

QB means being a good stand up guy, means being someone for everyone else to look to for advice and stuff.

I would like to see the election process revived, but I'd also like to see more people here on CB. One of the coolest parts of the QB was that it encouraged people to 'do good things' and be a part of the community. Without the possibility of that on the horizon, we don't have as many people competing for 'good deeds'. Which is sad.

I don't know, I guess it means somewhat the same thing as it did in CB1 and CB2, I think it just means you're a community helper/leader, and it meant the same in CB1/early CB2.

Changes to the QB? Not so much, maybe have regular votes for the QB, have someone designated as the person to run the QB again.

It's not a Popularity contest. As shown when a couple of times the 'popular' voted choice wasn't chosen.

JW has covered it all anyway.

For me (and I'm sure this holds for all the other QBs) the QB tag wasn't a competitive goal to work towards, and making it such to gain, or to keep, would totally devalue it. It it comes to that, please feel free to take mine away and not record me in a Hall of Fame.

If we need a competitive tag to work towards, why not make a temporary tournament winner tag?

If you do that, then I'm sure the QB title would be a competition between the same folk, over and over again.

Would you like to go up against Bast, Ranger, Sutekh and Sefton year after year?

That being said, I've no problems with the QB tag being made temporary, with you being unable to be nominated for it more than once.

It's nice to have, but it wasn't something I was aiming for or anything. I certainly didn't get mine from the popular vote at the time either!

I think there are too many of us in a too small a pond for it to really mean much at the moment. It's kind of like being a supporter - that seemed like a big deal when I first started - and now everyone and their dog pretty much is a supporter.

I don't know, there are plenty of people around who deserve it right now, which is cool, so revive it by all means so we can celebrate the players who give a little bit more to the game.

If we were to change the QB so it was only a temporary status then we would also have to stop previous QBs being voted for again, because I suspect you'd see the same faces being voted for time and again. Just look at how many current QBs are still around. I think it proves they were worthy, if nothing else.

I vehemently disagree with 'Fex's definition!
I like that Nov was last.
Since it was informally retired before anything dire happened, yes.

I would like us to be able to choose our own color for it!

Definitely not a popularity contest. I'm proof of that. =]
