Flamey is wondering if the QB tradition should be continued.
He initially gave me the option for yes/no answers but I think these options will be a bit better.

First... for once.

I feel like CB knows who it's "QB"s are. We don't need the tag anymore...

But that's likely just me!

-- Goodfish

3 months, but if no one deserves it don't give it to anyone

-- Cube

what does QB mean anyway?

-- {WW]Nayab

Quarter Blender. Particularly useful CB players. The people who have gotten it have been involved community members...

-- Goodfish

No.

Honestly, the only reason I could see giving anyone a QB anymore would be to get us a bigger player base. Otherwise, its just a popularity contest.

-- FailBoat[SG]

Popularity Contest

Sorry but QB has always been a popularity contest and I reckon several of the QB's would say they got theirs more through the voting than their contributions.
Only once have the higher powers gone against the more popular candidate and the members came down on them with a hail of abuse.
No good can come from reviving the tradition other than people trying to be helpful solely for their own reward which can result in giving bad advice like the old mentor system.

-- Zoglog[T]

YAY

You've got to be doing something right to get the popularity vote. People aren't that silly on here, a lot of people vote based on merit, IMO.

-- Flamey

yearly

make it yearly so that its still around and it retains its value. if its 3 months or even half-yearly it there would be many QBs

-- Rawr

*sigh*

If you don't believe the QB has any value, maybe it's time you opened your mind. There are other people of merit in the game, whether or not you think as an indivual there isn't. Or is the logic here that the only people who've helped the game at all in the past4 years are the QBs? If you think that, grow up. Thanks =)

-- BootyGod

Speaking as a QB

I'm not sure it means much anymore. There are people doing a lot for the game without the funny pink tag.

I will say one thing for the majority of the people who carry that funny pink tag, we're still here, and for the most part still heavily involved in the game.

It's not always been a popularity contest: Nightstrike and Sefton both won the vote, but didn't get the QB at that point. Now look at Nightstrike: from forum ban to God.

-- QBJohnnywas

I wasnt sure what a QB was until I read up on it. And I say sure bring it back, but every 6 months.

-- Burton

No more please

Soon everyone will be a QB.

-- Wasp

Remove it

Let's just remove the QB tags all together.

-- BootyGod

Don't have regular QB votes, but give out QB on a case by case basis. Do something really amazing (like get a whole school to join or help out Jon in a big way or something) to get the tag.

-- Wizard'sFirstRule

None of the above.

The user keeps the QB tag for a year whereupon their name is entered into a new "Hall of Fame" created speficifically for past QB's where they will be forever remembered. Every time a new round of QB nominations come around the user can be re-nominated for QB status and a further 12 months with the tag.

I agree

I think G Bee might be onto something

-- {WW]Nayab

+1 to G Beeee. Or +2 or +9

-- j'bob

Thoughts

I happen to like Cubes idea the most. AdminG_Beee's idea has merit but I just wouldn't think it fair to the rest of the players on here that could get it. The popular vote could keep going to one or two particular players. Maybe a bit of leveling this out could make it a more viable option..

-- Zenai

Kill it.

I say get rid of it completely. But really, I don't care one way or the other.

-- Lord Bob

None of the above

I haven't voted yet. I like the idea of a quarter blender, but I think it should be a temporary tag. Have one chosen every quarter, as in the past, but they would be replacing someone else. Sure, they could be up for re-election per se, but I feel it would be a lot better to have the QB title on the few people who help out the game the most currently, rather than those who may not be as active as they once were (certainly not hating on any QBs though since they've all done a fantastic job).

Edit:
G_Beee has beaten me to my point, as well as providing a helpful link. +1 to you, Grandpa.

6 Months - Annually

Or, we could have it to where it's a blind vote, and throughout the year, admins take notes on who is doing alot for the community and creates the poll with the Users accomplihments throughout the year along with their 5 QB Questions, and we base our votes off of their 5 answers / accomplishments.

But I also like GBs idea.

-- smallpau1 - Go Blues

G Bee's link

I've said mostly everything I wanted there, and it still holds.

"There are people doing a lot for the game without the funny pink tag."

Thing is, I'm sure those folk would have the funny pink tag anyway, if the tradition had actually been running.

;)

Keep the QB's

I don't read through the forums, but it's nice to see which players are the QB's through their name tag.. and remember that in this environment popularity is also important as you have to work hard and be a decent member to earn everyone's favour

Keep the vote, and trust the members to vote the QB's

-- Levon

Since we do have a cycle of new people coming and old people leaving, having the QB tag for 1 year would be appropriate. Have elections every 3 months with 4 QBs at any one time. Let those still playing, if a prior QB, be allowed to reclaim that title if they are interestedi in doing so.

-- QBRanger

I like the 1 year idea

Then I can try to see if I can win it again. I don't think I'm as fun as I used to be.

-- QBOddBird

What's the point?

It's not like QB's get anything special besides a pink tag....

-- Soul Eater

Yeah we do!

We also get raised standards for our conduct. *nods*

-- QBOddBird

no?

I have no idea what a QB is anyways, so who cares.
