Left pane, not working? (in General)

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:03 PM EDT

Is it just me, or is the left pane of CB not working right? Takes forever to come up for me, and the "Fight" and "inspect" links do nothing (they point to "sidebar.tcl#")

Help?

QBRanger October 14 2009 3:03 PM EDT

Just you.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 14 2009 3:03 PM EDT

they are working for me, i haven't refreshed in some time though.

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:05 PM EDT

I just started it up a few minutes ago, that's when it started for me.

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:09 PM EDT

Not working correctly in fresh sessions of both Firefox and IE.

IE reports "Error on page":

Line: 14
Char: 5
Error: 'request_in_progress' is undefined
Code: 0
URL: http://www.carnageblender.com/sidebar.tcl

AdminG Beee October 14 2009 3:10 PM EDT

It's definitely your end Sut.

You "work" for me, if you know what I mean ;)

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:12 PM EDT

So everyone has done a complete refresh, and the fight and inspect links work from the left pane?

I am not seeing how this could suddenly be just on my client side, in multiple browsers, from a fresh start? The rest of CB works, so I know there is no domain filtering going on with my end.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 14 2009 3:14 PM EDT

i just refreshed and hit inspect to test and yes it works fine for me! ;)

AdminQBVerifex October 14 2009 3:16 PM EDT

That sounds to me like your cache might need to be erased... hard, request_in_progress restricts lots of requests from happening at once. You shouldn't be getting an error like that ever. It's possible though, that you've got a spyware/malware/firewall program that is actively destroying certain requests to the server and this would definitely cause breakage. Also, are you experiencing greater lag then usual?

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:18 PM EDT

No, everything else is fine, and since it happens in IE (which I had never used before on this machine) I am not sure how it can be cache. But I will check Webroot and also do a full power-down reboot.

Fight and inspect links work fine when I log in as yourself.

It's weird and bothers me that you don't have a "log out" button on the sidebar though. I can't explain the logic behind that.
I have to clear my CB cookies to be able to log back into my own account.

Sorry, but I'm done. Your account appears to be working fine and I can't suggest anything else.

Looks like fexy's on the case though :)

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 3:29 PM EDT

"Transferring data from www.google-analytics.com..." displays for a long, long time before the left pane finally comes up. And once the pane is up, fight feed does nothing, and some links work, some don't. I can fight with the ENTER key, but Fight and Inspect links don't work.

My guess is that traffic is routing funny as the pane tries to instantiate, and then that variable that Verifex mentions is garfed from then on. I've no idea why this started happening and have no control over the network here... So I guess I'll just hope it eventually resolves itself!

Yeah, I'd love to get my "log out" link back, but it has been gone ever since I used to log in from Facebook. Even clearing cache won't bring it back.

"...thers me that you don't have a "log out" button on..."

G_Beee: that could be because of some facebook applet, some other people were bothered by this a while ago (novice I believe?)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 14 2009 4:36 PM EDT

yeah, linking an account to fb eliminates the log out link and lock the personal home page link

QBsutekh137 October 14 2009 4:38 PM EDT

Yeah, too bad I'm not on Facebook any more, so now it just means I have no log out!

AdminQBVerifex October 14 2009 4:44 PM EDT

NS or Jon can unlink your account from Facebook, but they are the only ones who can do that, to my knowledge.

AdminQBVerifex October 14 2009 4:47 PM EDT

Sutekh, do you have a firewall, spam, malware, adware blocking program installed on your PC? Also, are you using adblock or anything else? If you said yes to any of those things, turn them off and in Firefox click Tools > Clear Recent History > Check everything except saved passwords. In IE go into tools (or safety if you've upgraded to ie8) and delete/clear history cache. Once you've done all of that, log back in and see what works.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 14 2009 4:48 PM EDT

i have wanted someone to unlock my facebook link for ages but all of my requests to give us that option have been met with silence. if it can be done, please let us know.
