Fight feed slowdown should be fixed (in General)

AdminJonathan October 17 2009 12:17 PM EDT

\o/ Verifex :)

-            jQuery('#feeddata div:gt(7)').slideUp("slow");
+            jQuery('#feeddata div:gt(7)').remove();
(Translation: instead of having thousands of invisible fight results in that box by the end of a day, we remove old results immediately.)

Yay, this should help things out.

AdminShade October 17 2009 12:21 PM EDT

Wasn't that one of the things I was wondering? How to clean up the list...

Anyway, that's wonderful news!

Burton October 17 2009 12:22 PM EDT

Wow, thank you!

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 17 2009 12:23 PM EDT

Awesome!

AdminJonathan October 17 2009 12:47 PM EDT

Also, turned off the feed entirely for mobile users. (Modem users, I suggest setting your user-agent to symbian or something. :)

Mine Still Runs the Fight Feed. I use the Samsung Omnia i910 with the Opera Mini Browser. Is there another program I can use without messing up my phone?

kevlar October 17 2009 1:06 PM EDT

Thanks!

Demigod October 17 2009 1:09 PM EDT

Jon, THANK YOU!

I played CB1 and recall you being online quite a bit back then. I was getting worried about the lack of the creator's presence. Keep up the changes!

Burton October 17 2009 1:23 PM EDT

Any plans at all to disable the feature for PC users Jon?

AdminJonathan October 17 2009 1:26 PM EDT

Thank you Jon.

AdminJonathan October 17 2009 3:57 PM EDT

> Then why don't you see it?

"pt" stands for Portuguese and an obscure? mobile browser. I'll take that out of the user agent regexp for now.

Guardian October 17 2009 3:59 PM EDT

Not to make it a huge problem but the Fight Feed is still working on Mini Opera. Mine is scrolling faster than before, I think it is due to the cache clearing(?) for multiple invisible fight results was implemented.

AdminQBVerifex October 17 2009 4:50 PM EDT

Interesting, well good to see it working correctly now :)

It must be caching the old sidebar:

cb2:nscp 1> is_mobile "Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.15650/812; U; en) Presto/2.2.0"
1

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 17 2009 5:13 PM EDT

I have no idea what that means Jon.....lol How would I as a regular Joe fix this on my phone?

Lochnivar October 17 2009 5:18 PM EDT

refresh sidebar perchance Zen

.... like I have any clue
