GA damage (in General)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] October 27 2009 6:07 PM EDT

Inspired by this little discussion in another thread:

"Brakke Bres 8:55 AM EDT
it protects VS both JW, it protects vs AMF backlash and vs DD. And as GA returns the same damage type it receives RoBF would help in reducing that too.

QBGentlemanLoser 8:59 AM EDT
Didn't Jon confirm that went the way of the dodo ages ago?
That while we all thought GA returned the same type of damage as the attack, it's actually it's own type?

QBJohnnyWas 9:03 AM EDT
Jon did confirm that, but I'm seeing decreased GA return when I'm wearing the ToE...."

Is GA its own damage type or does it indeed return the same type of damage as the attack?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 27 2009 6:09 PM EDT

i also remember jon stating that it was its own damage type, i am just unsure of what post that was in.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] October 27 2009 6:10 PM EDT

But if that is true, does the ToE indeed reduce GA damage?

And if so, is the GA thus a more physical damage type rather then a magical?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 27 2009 6:13 PM EDT

that is the exact context i remember jon answering...or deja vu! the question was since it wasn't actually the same as what it was retaliating for was it physical or magical, to which jon replied ga is its own damage type.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] October 27 2009 6:15 PM EDT

here it is, but i think jon says in the thread that the toe doesn't work on ga damage!

JohnnyWas could easily test this out for us all.

QBJohnnywas October 27 2009 6:49 PM EDT

Hmmm. I was pretty convinced it was protecting against GA return. But I have to say...it's not. I've checked. And it didn't take long to see that I was mistaken. Shame, because it would be a nice asset to the ToE.

The ToE does reduce physical damage nicely though.

So, sorry those people who thought it would be a good anti GA tattoo.

I just appear to be running an archer team that isn't vulnerable to GA.

Which in itself is something strange!

Hit Points: 9,000,083
Armor: 196

Well, those two things help :)

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 27 2009 7:00 PM EDT

JW tis not strange you have heavy AC in comparison to all other Ranged Teams. Your Team is a Hybrid....the First True Archer Tank.....novice's team aside since it is an amalgamation of just about everything.....lol

Congratz on a great strat :-D

"GA seems to have got some indirect massive buffing this changemonth"

Wraithlin October 27 2009 7:26 PM EDT

From what I understand reading the skill and those other threads, GA returns the same damage type so if you hit them with physical and have a ToE equipped it should reduce the damage, same as if you had a RoBF and hit em with magic.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 27 2009 7:30 PM EDT

From Jon;

"GA damage type is GA, not physical or magic."

QBJohnnywas October 27 2009 7:31 PM EDT

Nah, Jon confirmed that GA return damage is a type of it's own.

It's tucked away in this thread:

QBRanger October 27 2009 7:49 PM EDT

The one thing I would do is make the ToE work vs GA.

And maybe up the threshold to get max GA damage from 2,5x to 4x due to the multitude of damage reductions we have had. Including making AC less effective.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 27 2009 7:58 PM EDT

I kinda liked the old GA, where it returned the same type of damage as the attack.

At least you knew what you faced on the return.

Now we have a GA thats;

Easier to get to maximum efficency (as all damage was reduced, while wasn't touched)

No longer reduced by either Magical or Physical Reductions (just AC, and unkown if it's full or only +), at the same time as AC was reduced across the board

Can be used with a MGS, if you use a RoS, which also protects it from DM

So it became much easier to train to maximum effect, and far harder to reduce, without anything actually being changed to GA itself.

It *really* needs to be tweaked with these changes in mind.

QBRanger October 27 2009 8:47 PM EDT

Jon confirmed it was only the + on the AC that helped vs GA.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] October 28 2009 12:58 PM EDT

I'm still not entirely convinced by the GA is OP line. It is very good now, since the damage nerf. I still think the AoF should be 2% per + which would bring it down a little.
