Are you guys seriously trying to say you always opened up the banana from the stem instead of from the tip ?

Hehehehe, I knew it was possible but I never actually tried it...
I'm done peeling bananas in a boring way. Thank you, masters.

funny thing is, i always used to bust the banana open as a kid, and always got scolded n punished for those atrocities on the poor fruit, so then i gave up being macho and began opening it like a sissy lol

alternately, you can hold the banana by the stem, crack it like a whip, opens right up. Just don't flip it too hard or you lose your banana.

I knew you could open it at the other end like a monkey, but I didn't know about swishing the tip === that makes a big difference! Thanks.

this is why the internet is awesome....
I didn't know that either. Though I never had trouble opening a banana since I have sharp nails and could cut the stem first.
Never tried it before and honestly I never saw a monkey open a banana like that on Documentaries. However this is interesting as it makes the stem into a great handle and if you open the banana right you do away with the seed right away :-D

I watched the video and then tried it here at work (we have a banana stockpile)...
... wow is this ever ridiculously easy.
This should be taught at schools... heck, the banana companies should make ads teaching people how to do this.
Unfortunately it has made me question everything I have taken for granted my entire life.
fyi - gravity, yeah, that one still works exactly like I thought it did... ouch
we need a poll on how many people knew about this! ; )
I knew this from a long time ago however I use a knife to cut the stem then peel it from there. I also dispose of the peel right away and eat the Banana by itself.
