CB sluggish for anyone else tonight? (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 19 2009 5:51 PM EST

Or is it just me? :/

Demigod November 19 2009 5:53 PM EST

It's painfully slow for me as well.

hzarb November 19 2009 5:53 PM EST

Same feeling at my end..

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 19 2009 5:58 PM EST

At the moment it's flipping from fine to unresponsive. :(

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] November 19 2009 6:00 PM EST

Same for me GL

QBRanger November 19 2009 6:09 PM EST

Was for me until 5 min ago.

Lord Bob November 19 2009 6:09 PM EST

It's fine now.

AdminJonathan November 19 2009 6:40 PM EST

Last time this came up I added a bunch of monitoring to the server. Nothing looks unusual. Next time, can you try traceroute / tracert to the server to see if it's on the network provider's end?

Not sure this helps at all.

Actually, if you look at the logging, the "available entropy" drops down to a very low number for a good while, is that a sign of something wrong?

QBRanger November 21 2009 5:15 PM EST

Yes, it is very slow currently.

Burton November 21 2009 5:16 PM EST

Incredibly slow.

AdminShade November 21 2009 5:17 PM EST

It's even slow for someone not even really playing any more, please fix it! ;p

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 21 2009 5:18 PM EST

It took me 3 minutes to load this thread.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 21 2009 5:20 PM EST

Where's the run command gone in Vista? :/

AdminJonathan November 21 2009 10:21 PM EST

I don't think entropy is the problem -- it doesn't seem to correlate with when people are reporting problems here. All the CB randomness is really pseudorandom and doesn't consume entropy, and things like these forums don't even touch that.

I've added smokeping to the monitoring set; if it's a network problem hopefully it will show up there.

If that doesn't work, does anyone have experience with any of the various external site monitoring solutions out there?

adampurkis November 21 2009 10:47 PM EST

to GL, you can get the run box up in vista by pressing the windows key + 'r'

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] November 21 2009 11:26 PM EST

the search box also works for run commands.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 22 2009 2:40 AM EST

Ah Thanks! :D

Shark November 22 2009 11:29 PM EST

well I dont know what you fellows did but this place is rocking fast tonite :) thanks!!

AdminShade November 24 2009 3:32 PM EST

CB is slow for me at this moment:

tracert is giving me pretty much the same as it did earlier.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] November 24 2009 3:40 PM EST

Yes, it's slow for me also. My tracert looks fairly normal though.

Wraithlin November 24 2009 4:02 PM EST

Slow for me right now.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- November 24 2009 5:13 PM EST

Technical people only:

if you enable the Net tab on firebug and mouse over the speed section of a request, it gives you a breakdown of where the time goes.

that should help us figure out where the slowness is coming from.
