clan bonuses (in General)

TheHatchetman December 21 2009 9:21 PM EST

any chance we can get a minimum point requirement on clans before they get a bonus? Otherwise we end up with stuff like "Score / raw score: 4 / 4 - - Rank / Bonus: 22 / 8.6%". That really stretches out the bonus and we end up with the 10th place getting almost as much as first place. Kinda devalues being at the top. I'm not suggesting any kinda hardcore cap just something like 100 points (if one clan member spends half of their BA on non-clan targets and wins 70% of their battles, you're higher than that), so that only the active guys get bonuses.

Thought? Opinions? Flames?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 9:43 PM EST

if the clan system is buggy as i suspect it is, i would suggest fixing it to work the way jon stated and then seeing how many clans exist.

i haven't gone through but from a quick glance 1/3 to 1/2 of the ones now showing shouldn't be.

TheHatchetman December 21 2009 9:51 PM EST

It's any active clan that will "show up" if it's gained or lost any points, you'll see it. Thing I'm talking about in this particular thread is clans with positive scores are able to get bonus even as low as 4 points. A nonclan char tripletaps a clan char, and now that clan has a bonus.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 9:54 PM EST

that is what is showing up but jon stated in the clans thread that it should only be clans showing that have at least one member with a net score that is positive. the fact that it isn't working the way he stated it means that many clans are showing up and getting bonuses.

if it worked the way he says it should, then no one could make another clan show up and there would be no way for an inactive clan to ever affect how many receive a bonus. fix that and i think the issue you describe would be fixed as well.

TheHatchetman December 21 2009 10:00 PM EST

or i could keep dropping the bottom scores :P

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:02 PM EST

that isn't affecting the bonuses though at all. they are still showing in the list and thus determining how many clans get bonuses.

TheHatchetman December 21 2009 10:03 PM EST

# Score / raw score: 2 / 2
# Rank / Bonus: 22 / 8.7%

Wow... insane :P

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:06 PM EST

A nonclan char tripletaps a clan char, and now that clan has a bonus.

that also cannot happen as non clan characters have no effect on clan scores, only other clan characters can change a clan characters score for better or for worse.

TheHatchetman December 21 2009 10:10 PM EST

nope. nonclan hits a clan char and loses, the clan char gains 2 points. but only clan chars can remove the points. All the clans with 2 points got those points from a defensive win.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:13 PM EST

that is in error then and i would love to see proof of it!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:16 PM EST

you can also get two points by defeating non clan members as a clan character, but it doesn't work the other way.

QBRanger December 21 2009 10:18 PM EST

I agree, the current system is a bit poor.

Perhaps:

Make it based upon the top clans clan points.

Have the top clan get 15%.

Have the next highest clan get a % of 15% based upon the % clan points they have. And so on.

So if we have:

Clan A 11,567
Clan B 8,904
Clan C 8,845
etc..

Clan A gets 15%
Clan B gets 15 x 8.904/11,567 or 11.55%
Clan C gets 11.47%
etc...

I did remember reading that random clans get 7 or 8% at various times of the day. If that is true then lower clans should have that opportunity.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:18 PM EST

i looked at some of the recent battles and you may be right. that is also buggy in my opinion as we were told differently.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 21 2009 10:20 PM EST

i still hold that fixing all of the bugs with clans would make a tremendous amount of difference to how many clans are getting a bonus for those that think that should happen.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] December 21 2009 10:23 PM EST

That's an interesting suggestion Ranger, and it would also fix what Hatch wants fixed as well.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 21 2009 10:40 PM EST

Ranger's idea would solve a lot of problems.
All clans get a bonus between 15% and 0%.
Where clan points are = or < 0 no bonus is given otherwise bonus is 15% x clan score/top clan score.

Can we have that implemented please?

Demigod December 21 2009 10:50 PM EST

Can we have that implemented please?

Hold on. As of right now, that formula means that the #1 clan would get 15%, and the #3 clan would get 5.75%. Would you guys want to level that playing field anymore, or are you okay with a possible outlier skewer the numbers?

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] December 21 2009 10:51 PM EST

That would certainly bring a lot of competition to clans. It would also not discourage some of the smaller ones too much as they would know that they would be able to get a bonus.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] December 21 2009 10:54 PM EST

Another way to do it is to make a certain amount of points worth a certain amount of bonus. Something like 1000 points is 1% bonus. So you would get a 15% bonus at 15,000 points.

QBRanger December 21 2009 10:55 PM EST

It would certainly bring a lot more to clan warfare.

IE: If the top clan was so far ahead, then all the lower clan would see that and "gang" up on that clan to lower its bonus and increase their bonus.

Right now, why bother going after a clan if the difference between 1st and 5th place is 1%.

But now, the difference, as you pointed out, is almost 10% between 1st and 3rd place.

Really?

Sickone December 22 2009 6:58 AM EST

Clan standings should be based on at least weekly, preferably monthly clan points, NOT on daily points.

TheHatchetman December 22 2009 10:46 AM EST

396 clans showing in the 24h list.
17 of them with more than 100 points...

Le Clan has:

# Score / raw score: -2 / -2
# Rank / Bonus: 72 / 0.4%

Do we really need 73 bonuses (There's a -2/-2, 73 / 0.2% somewhere too, just didn't bother to find it) with less than 20 active clans?

AdminShade December 22 2009 10:53 AM EST

Hatchet: with the current clan system, if those top 20 clans want to gain a decent bonus, yes. We very much need them so.

TheHatchetman December 22 2009 10:57 AM EST

If they want a decent bonus they should compete for it ~_^

What's wrong with needing to be top 10 clan to get a 10%+ bonus? That's how it used to be, and (much as sut will disagree with me here), it actualy used to matter which clan you were in. There was competition, there was fun. There isn't reallly any motivation to climb up a spot or two in the clan ranks when you've got clans with

# Score / raw score: 22 / 20
# Rank / Bonus: 21 / 10.9%

AdminShade December 22 2009 11:10 AM EST

but still, there is the difference between 15% and 14.7% ;)

TheHatchetman December 22 2009 11:13 AM EST

14.8% is currently the second place bonus. Seems the only competition in all of clanning at the moment is right at the top with BoW and TK. And i doubt either of us really care half as much about the .02% difference in bonus as we do about being #1 ~_^ Nobody else is really caring even a little about their clan's score or rank because even the inactive are getting over a 10% bonus. Boring!

TheHatchetman December 22 2009 11:14 AM EST

errr .2%

TheHatchetman December 23 2009 3:31 PM EST

At the very least could we stop having clan chars stop gaining points from defensive wins against non-clans? Every time we get a new user 20 minutes past the tutorial, 25+ clans have popped up on the list
