Can we please have this looked at? I'm positive there is something wrong.
Training a just above base VA (level 1,227) and hitting for 1,040 damage, should according to the size of VA versus the damage done, reach the maximum effect.
Instead I drain for -301.
Not only shouldn't that happen, I'm using a BoTH with an innate 20% Drain, that is seemingly overridden by this negative drain from a near base, but not too low, VA.

Yes,
It is a known problem that is best solved by not learning VA till you have enough xp to learn it higher than base.
Perhaps a solution would be to have it take 120,000 xp to learn given a level a bit higher than base, more like 10k. Which should prevent such problems.
More confused (slightly increased my trained VA for these...)

Oh I know that Ranger. ;)
But why does it over ride the innate 20% leech from a BoTH?
Surely that's got to now be classified as a Bug, and not just some vaguerity about a base VA?

Yeah, I am not sure I've ever understood how negatives come out of the leech equation. If nothing else, slap a MAX(<leech value>, 0) around the final result so that zeroes would indicate you need to train VA more... Though I suppose negative numbers also do an adequate job of that. *smile*
With no VA, here's what my leech should look like (although that can just be easily calculted from the damage numbers);
Pariah dislimbed Zar'atar [1195]
Pariah draws strength from his weapon! [143]
(I'm assuming here the lower than 20% leech is due to lack of HP on the attacked minion. Hmm I'll go check that)
Pariah clove Gruyere [1186]
Pariah draws strength from his weapon! [237]
20%. All good there. ;)

p.s. did you correct for base damage and damage reduction?
The drain shouldn't be effected by any of those, should it?
As it's based off of damage done, which is post any reductions.
Raise the initial amount of xp to train!!!
