Insane!

2008 Record 100 USD <==== Pfft! CB1 Players had and passed it long long ago....rofl

ScY January 6 2010 9:39 AM EST

Wow. This is interesting to look at from an economic perspective (I of course mean more deeply than "OMG 330k USD"). Internet and/or virtual property which can pay for itself on that kind of scale is groundbreaking and judging by the relatively quick ascendancy of inet goods such as the one in the example to such high prices, in a few more years it might be quite a good way to make a substantial amount of money. If that man who spent the 330k is correct in his statement that he will be able to make money from that (I am going to make the assumption that as the price of these things increase then their ability to make more money (larger quantities) back will correspondingly increase) then it looks like investing in things like that could potentially be quite profitable.

From my experience in CB the profitability of spending money in this game is largely based on how large the rate of change of new players is. Back when I joined there were (I *believe*) a much greater amount of new players and correspondingly the USD-CBD price was wayyy might (around $10-$12 per MIL CBD). Although of course there are other factors causing the CBD-USD price to rise (and thus the profitability), I think that the one which has greatest correlation is the rate of change of new players.

Just thought I would throw this out there, being my first post here in quite a long time (that wasnt a FS/WTB thread). Hopefully I will be returning myself!

Zen... that was 100k, not 100.

AdminNightStrike January 6 2010 12:16 PM EST

I think it's time to start selling unique CB items.............

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 6 2010 1:24 PM EST

GIMME!

Wraithlin January 6 2010 1:28 PM EST

I'll sell you my unique Katana. It's the only Katana with x56 + 35 in the game.

How about 331K USD?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 6 2010 1:29 PM EST

Ok, so first I want a Hammer that halves the dexterity of the user and had a base damage of 113... then I want super heavy gloves (base 8 Gloves FTW!) and a Steel Skin effect for the HoD.

What's would the invoice be for an order like that?

Wraithlin January 6 2010 1:31 PM EST

What about instead of cash for the charity raffles in CB. We do a yearly Unique Item Charity Raffle.

Once per year, the CB devs come up with a sweet new Unique item and raffle it off, all proceeds go to charity.

Joel January 6 2010 1:49 PM EST

I'd pay a tremendous amount of money for a new item that goes like this: VORPAL SLING OF DEATH!!!

DoS January 6 2010 1:59 PM EST

/me signs up so to start making bank online.

xD, but really... anyone play it?

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 7 2010 9:40 AM EST

Not trying to cause a mess but:
The amount paid for that property was much smaller though, with a reported $100.000 USD being spent on a Virtual Space Resort and Nightclub now dubbed Club Neverdie.

Looks like a misprinted $100 or $1000 <=== CB1 still as it beat. If I am wrong then no biggie.

NS: If you sell Unique CB items I'm with Nov GIMME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 7 2010 11:21 AM EST

It's $100,000, Zen.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] January 7 2010 3:19 PM EST

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 7 2010 3:21 PM EST
