I got jumped by 10-15 guys (in Off-topic)

Pwned January 24 2010 4:17 AM EST

Went to the club and some guys wanted to cut a black guy with a bottle and right where he was dancein was my GF and my best friend. What kinda of luck. My gf got hit with the broken glass and got her throat cut 3 inches and I went crazy. I tried to grab the guy that did it and the bouncers grabed me? #!@Q@R$%$DW, yea its messed up they grabbed me and I got hit in the face 10-20 times by random people. I somehow held onto one of the guys and then the cops threw me out the side door. That was all, no statement or anythign not only that but they tried to charge the single black guy with all the crap that happened. I screamed at them for several minutes with my friends that it wasn't him. Went to the hospital to fix my gf and.....I'll tell you guys the rest tomarrow, so tired. gn.

Please tell me this is part of a dramatic work of fiction you're writing.

Demigod January 24 2010 11:04 AM EST

A three inch cut to the throat that required a trip to the hospital -- and the cops didn't file a report or call an ambulance? Feel free to file a complaint...

Messbrutal January 24 2010 11:43 AM EST

Now that's a real shame, I hope your gf injury wasn't too bad.

Concealed Weapon Permit.

Pwned January 24 2010 12:48 PM EST

This really happened.

Yea there was no statements taken or anything. The cut on my gf's neck wasn't that deep but it was wide. We drove ourselves to the hospital to get it checked for glass but we don't have insurance so thats gonna cost abit.

I dunno how I got hit so many times. I think the bouncer had me in a headlock and was twirling me around while I was getting punched and kicked and I swear someone hit me with a bottle too. I dunno I was too mad to care. Seeing my gf bleeding turned me into a beast. All I wanted to do was grab the guy that threw the bottle but there was to many people holding me back and hitting me so I grabbed one of the hands that was punching my head and held onto it and then pushed the guy down. Then I got dragged and thrown out the side door.

The cops somehow managed to lose the several other people that were involved too. They must've been too focused on the black guy. It was funny though, they let me cuss out the people in front of the club. I was yelling at the top of my lungs.

TheHatchetman January 24 2010 12:53 PM EST

I'm not seeing where a concealed weapon would have helped any... Was he to pull out his piece right as his girl got cut and been charged with assault with a deadly weapon? Or was he to just start cappin' (Good ol' second degree murder!)? Perhaps he could've nicely asked the bouncer to let his arm go for a second after they grabbed him? Shoot up the whole club before heading to the hospital?

Guns, while they can be excellent in terms of home protection, are a million times less useful in practical out-of-the-house circumstance. In most situations, by the time you could draw your firearm without catching a charge yourself, it's too late to grab it. Then once they discover you have a piece, it's n longer about the assault or robbery they intended so much as making sure you are finished so that you can't shoot them as they're making their escape.

Concealed Weapon Permit.

By law you cannot carry ANY weapon into an establishment that sells Alcohol unless you are a Law Enforcement Officer. Otherwise that is considered a felony and you WILL do jail time period.

TheHatchetman January 24 2010 1:01 PM EST

Oh, then once you're KO'd they steal your piece, use it elsewhere, dump it, and now you're on an episode of CSI, only the cameras are all gone, no Grif or H, and these guys don't care so much about finding who did it so much as closing a case.

if you don't mind my asking, what city did this take place in?

Id suggest talking to whomever manages or owns the joint. Bring in pictures of your girlfriends neck and tell them that you plan on pressing charges because the bouncers targeted you while you were protecting your girlfriend instead of apprehending the people who really started it.. chances are they were regulars.. Then i would go to the police station and tell them you want to make a statement on what happened. Ask them if they ever bothered to see if the establishment had recordings of the incedent. Almost every club I have been to records and even broadcasts there stuff online. Lodge a complaint against the police for refusing to take your statement at the club. There are alot of options you could take.. your best bet is a lawyer though. Ultimately Establishments like that are responsible for the safety of their customers.

I talked with my brother inlaw (who is a parole officer) about this and he agree's these are the things you should do. He used to train bouncers in the college town we lived in, and said that it sounds as if these bouncers didnt know what they were doing.. The establishment it totally liable for the injuries, so I would pursue this even if it takes a lawyer.

Oh and Zenai, thats on a state by state basis. In Idaho all you need is a concealed weapons permit.

Yep. A very stupid law was passed here where I live that allows people to carry guns into bars. Bar owners weren't exactly pleased at the idea of having common bar fights turn into murders and have pushed back.

No kidding..... the right to bear arms should not extend to when you are tanked and looking for a fight.... sheesh

As for the OP,
I've been a bouncer in a few bars and I can see (unfortunately) how this situation would have resulted. In a bar with a poorly trained security crew often times 'security' means notice a big brawl in process and then grab everyone who looks vaguely involved and stuff them out the door.

Definitely worth talking to the management and the police as suggested above.

I hope you and your GF is recovering nicely.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 24 2010 3:12 PM EST

Yeah I noticed that just now as I was doing a bit of reading, that is insane. IE you have been given great advice I would definitely follow it. I have to say I am sorry that you, your GF, and friends went through this due to others ineptitude.

On the Security/Bouncer Team it sounds like there was no Head Bouncer/Cooler in the mix or they were just not properly trained.

Things like this hurt the Security field.....as if it is not enough that it already has the 90 yr old man asleep with his feet up and a book on his chest or 900 lb guy that will let anyone by stereotype Now we have the hothead I'ma throw everyone out the club one :-/

I'm still finding new bruises and cuts from this night and now that my pain relievers are gone....my body is starting to hurt all over.

We got some news! People were arrested that night, after we left, so we're going to press charges against them for the medical bill. I still want to file a lawsuit against the club too but my gf just wants this to be over fast. I dunno, I think this might last longer than expected and might be more trouble especially since the people were gangbangers and they might know an acquaintance of mine. We'll see.

Still no good in a bar or club.

Otherwise I'd agree with you.

I would.

QBRanger January 25 2010 1:55 PM EST

In florida you cannot carry a weapon into a bar or restaurant that has over 50% of its income via alcohol.

Otherwise it is allowed.

And there have been times when just showing ones weapon is all you need to safely get out of a tense situation.

Pwned January 25 2010 1:57 PM EST

For distress? I don't know if you can file lawsuits against the mentally challenged.

Scary thought, I remember this happening once but the other guys had bigger guns...

Appleton

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 25 2010 2:15 PM EST

Appleton.

One of my favorite summer destinations. I"m from the upper peninsula of Michigan. So it makes for a nice little road trip, it's just a couple hour drive.

Neo Japan January 25 2010 2:16 PM EST

I'm all for pressing charges against the thugs that started this and hurt your girl. I got jumped on main st. by 7 thugs and my friend ended up in the hospital with a broken eye socket, cheek and nose. I defended my face and got out without anything serious enough for the hospital. We are trying find them and charge them.

But whats your thing with the club? In confusion, the bouncer may have seen you mad and didn't know where your stand on the fight was, or he was on the bad dudes side, and stopped you. So get the bouncer fired or in trouble. But why should a business owner have to pay for something that an outsider started in his club. Maybe if this person repeatedly came in and started trouble, and the bar owner kept letting him come in, thats a problem. And if his bouncer is always beating up people, he should have been fired a long time ago, but maybe ur the first complaint.

I run a business and it just pains me to see people think, that just because its a business, we have the money to give away, or be taken from us and still survive, because most of us can't.

Hope your GF is ok, and hope those guys get whats coming to them.

QBRanger January 25 2010 2:24 PM EST

Likely it will come down to a he said vs he said type of situation.

The bouncer can easily state you were belligerent and would not leave the club. Then started to scuffle with him and he was defending himself.

I do not know the whole situation, however, it seems an uphill climb.

Canibus January 25 2010 3:02 PM EST

Horrible reading, hope you and your girlfriend gets some kind of compensation and that the other parties involved gets their just punishment.

Sad there is no good way to exclude people from society, not talking jail, just simple exclude.
