Is there a point in lesser tats? (in General)

Demigod February 4 2010 10:39 AM EST

Lessers were originally meant for newer players, but now everyone can afford regular tats within a short amount of time. The argument was that lessers were still great for tourneys, but now tourney's have segregated stores.

So what's the point? I previously mentioned the notion of having Varda drop a random lesser after 100 or so NUB battles, but that's the only use I can find. Deletion time?

Yeah, its still useful. Lets say you start a NCB, but you want to make some money by leveling a tattoo until your regular tattoo fits under your max tattoo level. If you can't afford a real tattoo for that, the lessers work perfectly.

If you have a new tattoo, that would be instant, not?

VsCountStrum [Black Watch] February 4 2010 10:46 AM EST

How much money are you really going to be able to make by leveling a lesser tat? I have a couple that I am holding now. One was leveled to 68K and would sell for about 180K. Given the time that it would take to for an NCB to level a base lesser Tat to 68K; I would think that there are better and easier methods to make a little cash.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 4 2010 10:48 AM EST

i would guess that using your larger tat for a better challenge bonus would increase monetary rewards over the amount to be made from a lesser.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 4 2010 10:50 AM EST

I have found that certain lessers are pretty important. ToAs are pretty hard to come by lately, but a lToA only costs 1200 in the store. That allows NUBs to buy one as soon as the start if they were referred. This helps them grow faster when someone is not likely to loan them a ToA.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 4 2010 10:57 AM EST

i would still like to see a tat voucher given upon completion of the new & improved tutorial that could be traded for a tat of choice at the tat artist. make it so that the voucher and the resultant tat is non-transferable to keep exploits down.

Lesser tats are pointless and annoying.

What we need are people publicly posting them and selling at a reasonable price.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] February 4 2010 11:59 AM EST

Lesser Tattoo's are perfect for testing out new strats.

Why?

because there cheaper then there full grown counterparts.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 4 2010 1:23 PM EST

Reasonable Price?

I've got a ~500K Lesser Tattoo (currently a RoBF, but what I love about Lessers, is that it can easily be changed to any type) that will sell to the Store for 1.4M.

Would anyone bother spending 1.4M on a 500K lesser? Especially when (if sold to the Store) a Full Tattoo of the same size would cost exactly the same instead?

iBananco [Blue Army] February 4 2010 1:32 PM EST

I'd still like to see lessers and regulars inkable to each other.

kevlar February 4 2010 2:03 PM EST

^yep, that was suggested as a solution before and I can't think of why it would be bad. If someone starts off with a lesser and learns how to do tatoos (if they didn't have anyone helping them or didn't figure out regular tats and the tat artist early) later, then why not allow them to keep the levels they have accumulated and make the transition into a regular tat? The levels gained until that point were already at a slower rate... don't see the need to penalize it further.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] February 4 2010 2:17 PM EST

Lessers are nice when you start an NCB with 0 CBD and 0 equips. They're also nice for testing purposes since a reink to anything will cost 1184$ every time.

For anyone else? I don't see why they exist. NUBs certainly don't need them at all given their enormous wealth. Tournies have their own. As stated above.

They're like self-upgrading Glaives. Or...Stilettos. So no, there is no point in lesser tats.

Demigod February 4 2010 2:42 PM EST

I would love to see them get deleted. Unfortunately, the full admins would get stuck with the task of reimbursing players who own lessers. Worse still, think of all of the inactive teams in the lower ranks that would become even larger turds.

But if we could just retire a few hundred of those teams and reactivate loss rewards for farm teams...

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] February 4 2010 5:07 PM EST

What's the big deal? They offer a good chance to play around and test stuff on the cheap. They are not required and do not bother anyone. Is it the fact that they exist alone that means they need to be removed? Ninety percent of the weapon and armor store falls into that category. Heck, why don't we remove 90% of the players' characters from the game since obviously they're not the most useful or top ranking ones. </sarcasm>

Miandrital February 4 2010 5:13 PM EST

/agree Vaynard

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 4 2010 5:32 PM EST

I've been trying to get Tulwars removed, just for this reason. ;)

That, or give them an actual use...

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] February 4 2010 6:18 PM EST

I have been an Advocate myself to set up Lessers to be worn With Armor and only Take up a Small Tattoo Slot. Of course I have also Advocated them being Toned down as well since Lessers and Regular Tats have the same Stats at the same levels maybe half them and let them grow at the same rate. Which brings me to the next thought.....Greater Tats baby!

ooops sorry almost went on a /rant <.< >.>
