New Skill: Stealth, New Item: Ninja Garb (in General)

Wraithlin February 5 2010 2:55 PM EST

Stealth:

Gives the minion an evasion equal to 50% of trained stealth. If the minion damages an opponent who has more trained EXP into a DD than into DEX/STR combined, gives the minion bloodlust equal to 75% of trained stealth.

Ninja Garb:

AC: 20
+2% Bonus per enchancement bonus to Stealth
+5% flat bonus to Dex.
-4% to enchantments and spells.

Let's add some tricky, stealthy, mage killing ninjas to the game.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 5 2010 2:59 PM EST

i had an idea for stealth a few years back. i wanted it to allow your team to basically close on the other team without them knowing it, thus skipping ranged rounds entirely. ; )

Wraithlin February 5 2010 3:01 PM EST

Ooooo. That is a good idea Dudemus.

Stealth: Gives the minion 300% of trained stealth as evasion during ranged rounds, gives 75% of trained stealth as evasion during melee rounds.

Another fine way to implement it, I think I actually like this new way better.

iBananco [Blue Army] February 5 2010 3:06 PM EST

Yes, let's make ranged obsolete.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 5 2010 3:10 PM EST

LoTR never had ninjas. :P

BadFish February 5 2010 3:13 PM EST

the numbers need serious tweaking (300% is just too much) But I like the idea of an evasion that is more effective during ranged rounds. We all remember when Mr. Miyagi caught the arrow mid-flight, and we all remember how awesome it was.

BadFish February 5 2010 3:14 PM EST

What I should say is I like the idea of an evasion that is ONLY effective in ranged rounds. having it also grant 75% evasion during melee would be broken.

AdminLamuness February 5 2010 3:14 PM EST

Going with the LoTR theme, the only way to be completely stealthy is to wear the one ring. Of course wearing it has its own side effects, and the ones who could see the one wearing the ring were the Wraith Kings.

Wraithlin February 5 2010 3:15 PM EST

The numbers aren't tweaked for balance, i just tossed them in to show the idea. Of course there would have to be some fine tuning.

I also don't think evasion that works better in ranged is obsoleting ranged at all. Ranged already has about a 50% better chance to hit than melee, so if you set the percent at 150%/80%, that might be closer to a good balance.

QBRanger February 5 2010 3:22 PM EST

I can just see it right now.

Stealth RBF users.

No freaking way!

Lord Bob February 5 2010 3:31 PM EST

I vote no on both proposals.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] February 5 2010 3:34 PM EST

# Evasion is more effective during ranged combat: x2.2 during the first ranged round, x1.96 during the 2nd, x1.72 during the 3rd, x1.48 during the fourth round, and 1.24 during the last round.
# With the Helm of Clearsight, these multipliers become: x2.2 during the first ranged round, x1.96 during the 2nd, x1.72 during the 3rd, x1.48 during the fourth round, 1.24 during the fifth round, and 1.0 during the last round.

Taken straight from the wiki...

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 5 2010 3:38 PM EST

contextually, my idea came before the ranged changes that lowered damage and was several years ago. i don't think it is as necessary these days, except for those 100 bth items. ; )

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 5 2010 4:02 PM EST

I think rings should be an item slot.

Miandrital February 5 2010 4:12 PM EST

Please leave us poor mages alone!

We already have to deal with MgS, EH, and RoBF absorption, not to mention all those insane archers...

Stealth would be cool if it was anti-tank though :)

Lord Bob February 5 2010 5:07 PM EST

Stealth would be cool if it was anti-tank though

No.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] February 5 2010 5:11 PM EST

Phasing: gives a smallish % chance of being untargetable for the round. Spread fire such as SoD, FB, and CoC will still hit though.

Wraithlin February 5 2010 5:13 PM EST

Lord Bob, you don't really have to respond to these threads you know. Everyone on CB knows you will vote no to all proposals ever given if they are going to add or change anything.

Not that the admins are actually going to implement any of these changes we think of anyways, they are more of a diversion for some of the more creative types to chat and think about stuff, pass the time.

Lord Bob February 5 2010 5:20 PM EST

Lord Bob, you don't really have to respond to these threads you know.

I don't have to not respond either.

In other words, stop trolling.

Everyone on CB knows you will vote no to all proposals ever given if they are going to add or change anything.

I'd vote yes on a good one.

Wraithlin February 5 2010 5:23 PM EST

At the very least, give us some arguement then. Tell us what's wrong with the idea, why it wouldn't work, something so we can discuss and improve upon it.

Just adding a response:
No

Gee thanks, glad I get to scroll through that while trying to come up with good ideas that we're trying to discuss on a topic.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 5 2010 5:40 PM EST

It'd be way too unfair. So I vote no too.

Lord Bob February 5 2010 5:46 PM EST

At the very least, give us some argument then.

Very well.

Gives the minion an evasion equal to 50% of trained stealth.

We don't need any more Evasion, period. I dread a return to the days of Evasion Blender, so any skill or item that starts with "grants Evasion" is an automatic deal killer in my book.

If the minion damages an opponent who has more trained EXP into a DD than into DEX/STR combined, gives the minion bloodlust equal to 75% of trained stealth.

Just train Bloodlust.

I voted no because I think this idea adds absolutely nothing to the game. Why is this skill necessary when you can train one minion with Evasion and another with Bloodlust? It's not a new idea, it's just mashing two old ones together so you can have your cake and eat it too.

That, and I'd rather put my XP into AMF, which is my opinion is far superior mage counter than this could ever be. I don't think a skill like this would ever see use by players.

AdminShade February 5 2010 6:11 PM EST

not balanced enough, no need for yet another exploitable combination.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 6 2010 3:43 AM EST

CB has Ninjas. The current UC.

I'd like to see a UC varient that trades Evasion for Endurance.

Then you have your dodgey Ninjas, and your hard as nails brawlers.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] February 6 2010 4:14 AM EST

Why would a ninja use Unarmed Combat? That's completely contradicts the point of a ninja. :P Much more likely, ninjas would have a plethora of weapons and items at his disposal.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 6 2010 4:25 AM EST

Ninjitsu as a martial art includes unarmed combat. You can stimulate using a ninja-to by also equipping an Elven Stilleto, if you wish.

Or just train Evasion and use a Weapon...

(The point I was making is that UC coupled with Evasion is an example of fluid, evasive martial arts, like ninjitsu. Rather than a more stand up and take it type of Brawler)
