1600 BA (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:05 PM EDT

Any thoughts on changing this? Hell, I'm even posting this in the hope we get an old style "be careful what you wish for" answer and the ability to store up 1600 BA is taken away from us.

I would like to start another NCB, but to do so I need to take nearly a weeks vacation from CB just to store up the 1600 BA (and time myself to start on a wacky XP time as well...).

And to be honest, I just don't want to miss the CB time.

But I'm going to have to...

DoS April 13 2010 6:06 PM EDT

Well, you don't have to if you don't plan on going for the top spots. If you are going for the top spots, then yes, you will have to save the BA and take the mini vaca.

AdminNightStrike April 13 2010 6:10 PM EDT

A better question is, how impactful is that 1600 BA over the life of your character?

Also, don't forget that you can pay other people to store up BA for you.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:12 PM EDT

It's not even about the top spots mate.

The low game is so, turgid, that you need to be out of it asap. Especially as rewards grow as you grow.

There's no reason to be in the low game any longer than you possibly can be, and every reason to use all methods available to get out of it as fast as possible.

Not only do we encourage disposable characters, we encourage users to take breaks from CB with this.

And do we really want more reasons for people to stay away?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:14 PM EDT

Very importan NS.

The sorry state of the low game is unbeleviable.

Also, with the bonus level as it is, using that 1600 BA on wacky XP time can nearly boost you out of 10/20 regen zone.

The question should be, why *don't* you save up 1600BA?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:17 PM EDT

3rd!

Yeah, you can also get poeple to save up 1600 BA fro you.

But that doesn't limit your ability to do the same.

If you really want to go all out, then you get as many people as you (afford) to save up 1600BA for you, and all spend it on wacky XP time.

I'm *not* a fan of that. I'm also not a fan of purposely getting a large character gimped for rewards.

But I've said my peice on those. This thread was purely about individual playing experience, and how it's effected.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:23 PM EDT

4th! ;)

I know I'm being slightly hypocritical here. As I posted a while ago that the start of this NCB (spending 1600 BA during a saturday XP time) was the best playing experience I've had here in a very long time.

And it was. I sat at CB, fully immersed and clicking away doing what (I hope) we all love best, for about a 5 hour session. Something I've not done here in, well I don't think I ever have.

And it was awesome.

So I would hate to see the ability to store up 1600 BA taken away.

But I also hate having to take an extended break from CB, just to set this up.

Heh.

Well, it can get this much interesting :

Gandalf April 13 2010 6:26 PM EDT

5 hour session on CB wowzers! Sounds fun indeed :)

Would there be any problem in clicking *create NCB now* and your given the full 1600 BA?

Which i'm guessing your hinting at?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:32 PM EDT

That would be one solution! ;)

You could even roll in the minscule cost of purchasing BA with no active characters into a cost to start the NCB.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 13 2010 6:35 PM EDT

Thing si though, that option would have to have a time limit attached to it, so every day you just couldn't create a new 1600BA character.

Clan Points aside, it would be bad due to the Random Drop System...

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] April 13 2010 6:37 PM EDT

So much potential to abuse that though.

Gandalf April 13 2010 6:40 PM EDT

True GL.

Or maybe the option of 'unleashing' the extra 1600 BA anytime throughout your NCB just once.

That means if you hate the low end, you fight through it quicker, or you could wait till last day and go crazy.

Just a wacky thought :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 13 2010 6:50 PM EDT

once i jokingly asked if the bonuses are designed to get us to 90 percent of the top mpr, why not just create new characters at that point?

the n*b needs constant realignment, as it does currently, to keep the bonus from being so high. that along with our small population now makes growing a character a total pain.

i am against making the game too easy, but it would be nice to have more of the active fighters immediately at the top to fight with us!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 13 2010 6:50 PM EDT

Sickone, I've added about 500k MPR transfer and saving my own, would have missed out on around 350k if I hadn't done the transfers. So, I'd still be at a fairly high MPR right now regardless. I'd say with a full buy and hard work you could get around 5.1M MPR with no transfers and no saving 1600 percent yourself, then add about 100k MPR for every time you transferred.

QBRanger April 13 2010 6:51 PM EDT

A better question is, how impactful is that 1600 BA over the life of your character?

Extremely

http://www.carnageblender.com/inspect_opponent.tcl?opponent_id=136529&opponent_name=xxJS07

2+ Months still to go.

Remember this character had I believe 4x 1600 BA to start, which at this point is 10% of its total BA. Likely to be about 7% at the end of the NCB which is about 400k MPR.

So yes, it is a very big deal. Esp for those who do not (ab)use this feature of CB.

AdminNightStrike April 13 2010 7:21 PM EDT

Noted. And I am almost done with a fix for that. Sort of. Well, a fix to stop it from getting worse.

I am almost done with a fix for that... to stop it from getting worse.

::claps::

I don't even care what it is. I'm a fan of taking chances as long as they'll recalled if they flop. Basically like Toyota.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 13 2010 7:30 PM EDT

I'm betting you going to do what you did on accident awhile back, but include an if statement and make it for people that are like below 500k.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 13 2010 7:34 PM EDT

i assumed he was referring to making tournament characters no longer affect the scores of non-tournament ones. that is the keep it from getting worse part.

some of us have suggested ways to actually fix the damage already done as well, such as a one time reset of score to mpr if score is less than mpr currently.

Demigod April 13 2010 7:44 PM EDT

Ah, I though that was already implemented.

AdminNightStrike April 13 2010 7:59 PM EDT

No, it wasn't. But this post reminded me to finish it, so I think I may have. I'll put the CL up when it's clear that it works.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 13 2010 8:52 PM EDT

so this:

is something new then?

awesome! ; )

spydah April 13 2010 9:00 PM EDT

5 hour session, ah, that harkens to ye olden days when we had no BA, no bot checks, no CPU utilization pages, everyone had 15 lochs, no clans, no skills, no tats... just... pure blending.

exciting times...

sigh.

AdminNightStrike April 13 2010 10:22 PM EDT

Dude, I Was responding to Demi :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 13 2010 10:24 PM EDT

d'oh! ok, just verifying, thanks for the response.

actually since i am verifying, is this also the bonus rework of some sort that was hinted at as hopefully being done by the end of last year or is that something else in the works?

AdminQBVerifex April 13 2010 10:29 PM EDT

That would be interesting, but I think this would be a mistake to have that much BA unless we also had a means to spend more then 1 BA at a time. Just saying.. Like let me fight 10 or 20 people in one click, maybe it doesn't work EXACTLY the same as it does now, but lets me waste BA faster, and do something to mix it up.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 14 2010 6:25 AM EDT

Thanks NS, this wasn't an attempt to husstle you into anything, rather just a vent for me. ;) I'm going to start again, as I tihnk I'm finally able to let single minions go (not that I want to of ocurse!), and run a 'proper' team.

But this means I need to be inactive (fighting side, you've not got me stopping posted just yet! :P) for nearly a week.

Which sucks. :(

I just think it's a poor design to encourage people *not* to play. Seems counter intuitive.

Thinking more about the solution posted above, how about something like this;

Have a second option when starting a new Team. A choice you can only pick 6 days (or however long it takes to save up 1600 BA) after last choosing it. This costs an amount equal to 1600 BA times the normal price of BA for your largest character.

The 1600 BA is imediately reset if you unretire at all while you have it (to stop you retiring, buying no cost BA and unretiring to take use of it on your main.

This gives all the benefits, without driving people away for an extended time.

Any flaws (apart form implementation of course!) with this? Any potential abuses?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 19 2010 4:47 AM EDT

OK, retired, bought first lot of daily BA, see you all in 6 days!

Have a great week CB!
