Who wants my equipment? (in Off-topic)

sebidach [The Forgehood] May 27 2010 6:17 AM EDT

This is no sell-out. It's a give-away.

I'm too unmotivated (or stupid?) for a complex game like CB. Tried something with my char and failed. Would give it all to either charity or Zenai for his eyes, but make suggestions.

If you're set on a give away, and not carrying on, then I'd suggest giving it to Tourny Prizes. Either to fund an upcoming tournament, or to help kit out the 'NPC's they have.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 27 2010 6:38 AM EDT

Don't despair, just try again.
I played 5 NCBs before i actually finished one (played the 6 months) because of bad strategy choices. But if you do really believe there is NOTHING left to try, give it to tourney prizes, they will find a way to put it to good use.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 27 2010 7:05 AM EDT

sebidach do you remember my first post for you and so far everyone that is a NP? At the bottom of that post it says "This game is intended for long term play so game on!" Well it still applies bro. You are bound to make mistakes, we all are and will continue to do so. It is sheer will and determination that gets us though the tough spots(sometimes just plain old hardheadedness.....lol). It takes time, planning, good opponent targeting, and excellent execution combined with just a bit of luck.

My Advice bro, dust yourself off and try again.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 27 2010 7:24 AM EDT

i did something similar once but used that character to then find a strategy that does well. once i got it doing as well as i could, i ran an ncb with the new strat. in other words live & learn. i would suggest just sitting on your stuff for a bit, you may find yourself with an idea for a strategy that you like and jump back into it.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] May 27 2010 8:53 AM EDT

*Holds out hands for free caster goodies.*

What? Someone had to play the devil here and we all know I have no morals.

But, I will agree with the others and say that you should keep rolling characters until you can find one that you like and that you're willing to keep on playing. Just don't be like our dear friend Silva and roll a new character every six months, or less, out of boredom.

Kompton Kidd May 27 2010 9:50 AM EDT

You could loan me your gear if you'd like. :)

Ankou May 27 2010 9:59 AM EDT

It is unfortunate that you have decided not to play anymore. But the fact is, this game just isn't for everyone. No game is. What you do with your items is your business, but by all means, don't just let them sit on your character forever.

Since I don't think that it can be donated to the tourney, I would more than love to have your character transferred to me. If you decide to give away to individual payers instead of the tourney, then i would be willing to accept literally anything you have, with preference towards the hal or named equipment.

If i may ask, What is it about this game that you do not enjoy?

Demigod May 27 2010 10:25 AM EDT

Since I don't think that it can be donated to the tourney

FYI, players can donate items and characters to another character named Tourney Prizes. It's a method of providing tournament prizes and NPCs.

But to join the masses, I do hope you stick around, Seb. You've been a decent addition to the game, and you can easily run lazy NCBs to grow tats and build money for a stronger run if you ever choose to do so. Or you can just switch to casual forging to beef up your gear.

AdminShade May 27 2010 10:52 AM EDT

You should stick around and learn! (or give to Tourney Prizes for future tournaments)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 27 2010 10:56 AM EDT

tats are actually the most important item in the game, in my opinion. your tat is pretty large, yet small enough to start growing fairly quickly during an ncb run. in other words, keep your tat growing and you really haven't lost much.

lostling May 27 2010 11:03 AM EDT

meeee =x but yea u should.... STAY

AdminNightStrike May 27 2010 12:06 PM EDT

Seb, I don't think you failed with your character at all. You did very well, on the contrary. You haven't even been here a full year, and you're pretty advanced.

[RX3]Cotillion May 27 2010 9:15 PM EDT

I wish I had gotten as strong a character as you with my NUB. You think you failed at your character, check my first one out.

Try not to laugh too much.

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] May 27 2010 9:51 PM EDT

I don't have a AoJ, SB, or SoC....

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 27 2010 11:22 PM EDT

hold an awesome tourny.....your idea...your rules...(ask slayer of coarse:-P)

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 27 2010 11:52 PM EDT

also stay....

Windwalker May 28 2010 3:07 AM EDT

Believe it or not. I bet 90% of the players have muttered those same sentiments!
I've had it with that CB stuff!
So your not alone. Might as well stay :)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 28 2010 3:19 AM EDT

Seb, take it form me, your NCB run is brilliant! :P

3.7M MPR. I'm not gonna reach half that at the end of mine!

Don't feel you have to keep restarting an NCB either, if you don't plan to fight more, or reach higher bonuses, during your next run, you'll always be better off sticking with your current character. ;)

Personally, I don't see any reason you should feel like you need to give up on your current character, and would hope you stay.

I tihnk the overwhelming responses you have, and owuld have in this thread would hope you stay as well, but if it'll help, I'm sure we could arrange a community poll or (as long as I don't get forum banned for suggesting! :P) a simple /signed petition going!

;)

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] May 28 2010 4:32 AM EDT

My NUB made it to... 300k MPR? I lost the ability to play for a year so my character was wasted. You, did amazing.

sebidach [The Forgehood] May 28 2010 4:46 AM EDT

Thank you all! You too, Silva and Gun. ;) The community of CB is really awesome.

And I don't think that I failed with my char during the NUB run, but I failed to put it in a position where it can grow further in a way that gets along with my situation.

In the last weeks of CB play I tried to have a large as possible fight list as I didn't have much time and a large lack of motivation. I love the complexity of CB but I hate it's pace. It's like playing a very long game of chess, or better: correspondence chess but you have to bring each letter yourself. From Nowosibirsk to Fairbanks bare feet.

I'm preparing my Master thesis, going to work and trying to have a normal social life. I thought of taking a break, but my gaming habits hardly match with CB, and I don't want to see my items wasted. (And I still have 30+ near-base items on my storage chars that I could use on a NCB run.)

But I think you are right, CB will suck me back in when winter comes again. (Though one might question whether it left yet..) So I decided to try to make a fortune with forging and loaning and wasting all this money in an NCB run.

Still the question remains what to do with my current char. I don't see NPC coming soon (but I'd love to see my char as one). Best offer yet is from dyno, who would donate to a charity. If we can figure out how much (complete char, donation sum) and which charity he'll get it.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 28 2010 4:51 AM EDT

At least keep your gear, so that when you do come back, you're not startng from scratch!

We usually do stuff for the Childs Play charity, so maybe speak to OB (if you're still running this?) about maybe putting your character up for sale for that?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] May 28 2010 10:15 AM EDT

won't you need the character for forging, or am i missing something?
