Hmm, let me rephrase.

Considering the weapons of CB, which one would Gimli use in ranged combat?

Crossbow.

Probably the AxBow as it would make Gimli's enemies as slow and cumbersome as himself.

He'd use an Elven Longbow .. attached to legolas haha

nah i agree with the others, i think it would have to be a crossbow of somekind .. cant see those stumpy arms twirling a sling enmass (pebbles and rocks as weapons maybe though) or twanging away on a bow with any great effect .. but him cranking back some honking great thick crossbow seems more likly to me

Throwing Iron(Similar to a horse shoe), Throwing Axe(double sided), Throwing Hammer(Small Spiked Head and pommel), Thrombas(Ironwood Boomerang type weapon but much larger), and finally a Bolas(1 & 2 Ball Type)

I'd vote for the Heavy Crossbow, though its base damage does not reflect its power (in comparison to other weapons.) Too bad it doesn't fire every other round at a greater base damage than the ELBow. That's how a good, crank-back heavy crossbow oughta be!

OB: I agree but I would change the name to: A Dwarven Crossbow [8x1](+1)
