Life Gem? (in Off-topic)

LOL. I just found this site...

www.lifegem.com

They actually cremate dead loved ones, dead pets, etc. and use the ashes to create jewelry for you to wear. This site is so full of creepy quotes.

My husband Steve and I talked about LifeGem initially regarding my Mum and he approved of it and said モSha if it makes you happy, then do itヤ. Little did I know then that it would be his ashes making the diamond.

Discuss: would I be a red diamond or a blue one

So creepy o.O Did someone actually write that or is it one of those fake quotes?

There was something like this about 20 minutes away from where I live:
Tri-State Crematory

Except instead of cremating the bodies and making jewelry, they just chunked the corpses in the woods and gave people cement.

Whoa Demi! That is like really sad and creepy....not quite as creepy as having a passed on loved ones ashes/hair turned into jewelery but still ewe!

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] December 19 2010 5:50 PM EST

"but still ewe!"

sheep being turned into diamonds too?

sheep being turned into diamonds too?

Well why not? Might as well add your pets into the mix too! :-P

pets? those would likely be mistresses ;)

lololol That's kinda terrifying.

old news actually, but it's real and is being used more and more.

I see it as an alternative on cremation, why keep an urn when you can wear it around your neck or on your finger? :)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] December 19 2010 6:55 PM EST

I would never even think of doing something like this. I mean is there any real way of knowing whether the ashes of the person is actually being used? It'd probably be much more cost effective to lump all the ash/hair they get instead of catalogging everything. And the day you get robbed on the street and you lose the essence of your loved one, that will be a sucky day.

So...

...making a diamond ring out of your ex and using it to propose to your current girlfriend falls where exactly on the creepy/wrong spectrum?

BadFish December 19 2010 7:28 PM EST

Just this side of awesome.

That is the best possible scenario for using this resource, I think. Great idea Loch!

i made my wife promise that if i die before her she will have a memorial ceremony for me at which she will announce that as per my instructions i have been cremated. she will then say that i left specific instructions as to what to do with my ashes and that i should be baked into a chocolate cake to serve at my memorial and the announcement should be read as everyone is eating the cake.

i don't really want her to do it, but it would be classic to watch everyone! ; )

QBOddBird December 20 2010 12:37 PM EST

That's a good idea, dudemus. That way there's a little piece of you inside your loved ones.

Invader Sye December 20 2010 12:50 PM EST

I want to be turned into a synthetic diamond after I die :)

Lochnivar December 20 2010 12:59 PM EST

that is pure awesome dude...

Kind of reminds me of the 'Criminal Minds' episode where the psycho of the week volunteers at a food tent for a search party and serves the searchers chili made from the girl they are searching for.

But yeah, dude's idea is hilarious and is soo going into my will.
