New Item; Something to counter GA (in General)

Vicious Cat January 2 2011 8:17 AM EST

OK - I know it's unlikely, but a "Ring of Halo Slippage" would keep me from being irritated by all the Angels about! ;-)

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 2 2011 8:20 AM EST

ring of dispel magic? ;)

pumpkinking105 January 2 2011 8:27 AM EST

Anti Angel Aura (AAA)

AdminNightStrike January 2 2011 8:59 AM EST

Do we have rings?

Guardian January 2 2011 9:01 AM EST

i'd like a ring and a earring

Unappreciated Misnomer January 2 2011 9:14 AM EST

a cloak to counter GA is the easy part. jsut what would you get it to do? reduce the cap, or reduce the chance or frequency that GA retaliates?

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] January 2 2011 9:39 AM EST

I would like to request a Ring of Balrog Repellent and a Ring of Elven Bow Deflection while we're at it. Might as well put counters to all of the main killers in the game.

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 2 2011 9:45 AM EST

Maybe make it some kind of EO that casts at 80% of its level that can cancel out GA if it is a high enough level.

er, wait a second :)

Unappreciated Misnomer January 2 2011 9:55 AM EST

sorry i made a mistake, after some thought, its obvious that it should be a pair of gloves, and it reduces GA some way to that minion.

Vicious Cat January 2 2011 9:59 AM EST

HG:
But you need to be able to use it with AMF ;-)

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 2 2011 10:00 AM EST

But you need to be able to use it with AMF ;-)

You are right...maybe some kind of special tattoo that protects from this spell and lets you cast it with others.

er, wait a second :)

Vicious Cat January 2 2011 10:00 AM EST

VY:
I like your style, apart from the Anti-Balrog thing, which would be disaster for me at the minute...
:-)

Vicious Cat January 2 2011 10:05 AM EST

Being serious for a moment, I've never really got the hang of an RoS. (I'm assuming that's what you were referring to?).
Maybe I should investigate it further on my next NCB
Hmmm....

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 2 2011 10:05 AM EST

The RoBF is a nasty tattoo for those of us that rely on GA for a good chunk of damage.

I would like to propose an item to make the RoBF user take GA damage! hehe, problem solved :D

lostling January 2 2011 10:32 AM EST

rings would be really cool

lostling January 2 2011 11:24 AM EST

ROS is actually really really cool

QBRanger January 2 2011 12:41 PM EST

New Item; Something to counter GA

Why?

There is DM.

There is VA.

There are leech weapons.

There is AS and HP.

All very viable way to counter GA.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 2 2011 5:03 PM EST

Ranger:True but most of the time have to be taken to extreme levels, and often in conjunction with each other, just to get the desired effect. Players just want one thing to counter one thing. I honestly don't think it is such a bad thing to ask for since GA is quite tough all on its own.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] January 2 2011 5:13 PM EST

Ranger:True but most of the time have to be taken to extreme levels,

I disagree even the largest GA at 9 million levels is still relatively small and easy to dispel.

Vicious Cat January 2 2011 6:10 PM EST

<sigh>
I did post half in jest - I'm not really expecting the game to change just to suit my present incarnation.

Ironically, after tweaking my team to counter GA a bit I don't seem to have been coming up against quite so many. Heh, go figure

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 2 2011 7:57 PM EST

I disagree even the largest GA at 9 million levels is still relatively small and easy to dispel.

Sure when you are higher up and the opposing player is not Sporting a RoS. Tell that same thing to those who are not basing 80% of their strat to knocking out GA via DM.

I did post half in jest -I'm not really expecting the game to change just to suit my present incarnation.

Welll you did kinda leave it open to interpretation and commenting. :-P

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] January 2 2011 8:23 PM EST

I took it that way :)

In all seriousness though GA is a strong and powerful spell, but a lot of things can take the bite out of it (refer to Rangers post).

It also doesn't get the job done if there are minions that don't deal damage, unlike a lot of other very powerful things in the game (Archers come to mind). The RoBF is also nasty for GA teams, since all that damage gets past with no consequence.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 2 2011 9:09 PM EST

Remember when people thought DM was OP, good times on cb... good times.

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 2 2011 9:20 PM EST

AC and RoBF are also counters to GA dont forget.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 2 2011 9:37 PM EST

My CoC wall in this tourney eats GA for breakfast ^_^

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 2 2011 9:59 PM EST

My CoC wall in this tourney eats GA for breakfast ^_^

Horsepucky Nat. Your CoC simply does more damage in one turn than your opponent has HP therefore circumventing GA. If they had enough HP then they would level you.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 2 2011 10:01 PM EST

Really zen, I take 24% backlash from GA at full effectiveness now. That's quite a reduction from 60%.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 2 2011 10:50 PM EST

You are right I stand corrected on one part of my above statement, you still get some backlash even with taking your GA'ed opponent out in one shot.

GA retaliates with up to 60% of all damage inflicted on its targets by opposing Minion s. GA has reduced effect when its level is low relative to the damage done. GA level should be about 2.5 times the done to get full 60% retaliation.

You are reducing their effectiveness by out damaging their trained GA.

GA only retaliates damage up to target's current HP. If a blow kills target, the excess damage beyond target's additional blows after death will not retaliate.

One massive CoC shot and down goes Frazier.

You are working both of these in conjunction Nat...I'm fairly certain you also have quite a bit invested in HP as well.

Your strat is not really eating them up you are just out-training them if they did the same you would be toast. Trust me when I say the balance is crazy, note FGoD was very nasty in the damage department and only 3 things got him down.....the magic AC #, ExBow, and GA/HP(I'm not forgetting Evasion/DBs they are a given). Sure there was a few other things to battle with but only those 3 took me out without much trouble ie 3-8 Rounds.......GA Especially. I also know why since I was a Archer but the same will apply to you...retaliated damage is retaliated damage.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 2 2011 10:58 PM EST

AC 404 + SS

I am talking about facing a full GA without breaking the cap...

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 3 2011 12:59 AM EST

Ahh so you are not far from the magical take minimal damage if at all AC #.....heh note all of this to stave off one thing.....wow. I guess point in hand here again? One thing to counter one thing is what is being asked for I would again say why not.

Vicious Cat January 3 2011 6:33 AM EST

Sorry - getting back to *my* problem...

;-)

The Wiki states that GA returns the same type of damage it is triggered for, 2 questions:
Is ranged damage different from Melee, or are they both classed as "physical"?
Should it not then trigger an SoC? (I can post a fightlog, but I don't see this as being the case).

AdminTal Destra January 3 2011 7:16 AM EST

Physical is weapon, non-physical is magical.

Vicious Cat January 3 2011 7:41 AM EST

From Wiki, Shield of Capacity: Primary Effect: For each enhancement (+) the SoC absorbs an average of 0.5% of *physical damage* received.

From Abilities Descriptions, Train Page: Guardian Angel Training Cost: 840 GA retaliates with a percentage of all damage inflicted on its targets by opposing Minions. GA damage is reduced by AC; *GA damage type is the same as that for which GA is retaliating*. GA has reduced effect when its level is low relative to the damage done.

From Fightlog: Aaarrggh crunched Kunubsep [1536]
Hewnor absorbs damage [1,536]
Aaarrggh pounded Kunubsep [1636]
Hewnor absorbs damage [818]
Aaarrggh draws strength from his weapon! [163]
Kunubsep's Guardian Angel smote Aaarrggh (433)
Chuno burns from the flames surrounding Aaarrggh (12821)
Chuno takes damage from his own Decay (0)!
Chuno's Decay hit Aaarrggh [47]
GiiOuuuut absorbs damage [47]
Tekoaft Jang takes damage from his own Shocking Grasp (3,804)!
Tekoaft Jang touches Aaarrggh [7,751]
GiiOuuuut absorbs damage [7,751]
R.I.P. Chuno, Hewnor

Aaarrggh tapped Tekoaft Jang [1291]
Aaarrggh draws strength from his weapon! [258]
Tekoaft Jang's Guardian Angel smote Aaarrggh (724)
Kunubsep burns from the flames surrounding Aaarrggh (14378)
Tekoaft Jang takes damage from his own Shocking Grasp (3,804)!
Tekoaft Jang touches Aaarrggh [9,597]
GiiOuuuut absorbs damage [7,609]

(Where Aaarrggh and GiiOuuuut are mine)
No Shield Flashing!!
This, to a large part formed part of my strat against GA. I'd quite like the SoC not to take 12% DX/Arch, so if my thoughts are wrong I'd like to know so I can unequip.
Does this make sense?

AdminTal Destra January 3 2011 9:15 AM EST

You're using PL and you still want the SoC to absorb the damage?

Vicious Cat January 3 2011 9:20 AM EST

I want the SoC to absorb the (physical) damage of the GA, like it says it should :-)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 3 2011 9:21 AM EST

The Wiki states that GA returns the same type of damage it is triggered for, 2 questions

Last time I checked it didn't say this, if it does it's wrong. GA is it's own type. Only affected by the + on armor.

AdminTal Destra January 3 2011 9:27 AM EST

GA damage is GA. As stated by NS.

AdminTal Destra January 3 2011 9:28 AM EST

GA damage is reduced by AC due to enchantment, not base AC; GA damage type is GA. --The damage type was revealed to be of its own type by NS on Feb 19th, 2010. This was revealed in chat and posted to the community in message 00309w.

Vicious Cat January 3 2011 10:08 AM EST

Can someone change the Spell Description then please. It is as I have pasted in my previous post.
