shouldnt there be a cb3? (in General)

Coheed January 22 2011 6:27 PM EST

Ive been readin the forums a lot and ive noticed that since this game came out its gone through a ton of changes and reworkings. So I guess the way I interpret it is cb1 was the alpha stage, cb2 is the beta, and all this NUB business seems kinda weird too. So I guess my question is shouldnt it start over now that all these changes are implemented and instead of havin a NUB why doesnt everything just like reset after a while (like a month or two or six)? CB3? I mean still keep cb2 around cuz everyone would complain if it was taken off but its obviously kinda set up weird.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 22 2011 6:37 PM EST

I don't think the game would survive something drastic like that. Also the one of the main reasons that I play is precisely because this doesn't happen.

Coheed January 22 2011 6:41 PM EST

thats why i dont think cb2 could be taken down cuz a lot of people like how it is. I just think itd be really fun with everyone starting at 0 and battling each other for the top spot.

CB1 pretty much had a winner. It was two guys playing the same character with an insanely huge weapon. When CB1 ended, I left.

CB2 seems to have balanced that out, and it tweaked a lot of other things as well, likely many hidden aspects (code & security) that needed to be done. Somewhere along the way, we also got tattoos & familiars and a controversial N*B system.

CB3 needs to come, but only if it's done with a lot of TLC. If you read those forums, then you also read the 10,000 complaints for a fresher interface, a new method of boosting new players in leiu of the N*B, restructuring/removing/adding items, etc. That's a ton of work, and we're missing the game's creator. Don't hold your breath for CB3.

CB2 was implemented for one sole reason, CB1 was too difficult to do any changes in. CB2 will never become CB3 because it is easy to change, and it takes care of all the problems that Jon was having with CB1.

If you want people to start from 0 and fight to the top, you are better off finding a way of making an in house tournament (i.e. a tournament that is only fought between tourney characters). CB is a long term game and those that have spent money or have worked hard for their achievements, won't appreciate losing all their commitment to the game.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 22 2011 6:51 PM EST

There is pros and cons to both OW. Overall there is a way to do just what you are talking about, only problem is that there is not as many people doing it......Long Term Tourneys. This is our best solution, applied, to date. Do all of us think there could be a million and one different tweaks both large and small? Definitely, would we sacrifice our places in CB2 to get them....probably not because it was hard to get to where we are and we don't want to give it up.

See there is one very very familiar thing about CBers we want our cake and to eat it too.....oh and the icing and candles and ice cream and oh to heck with it we want EVERYTHING......lol

jon addressed this in the following post

his post about halfway through the thread is the one.

AdminJonathan December 28 2005 12:33 AM EST obviously you don't have any guarantees with cb2, or anything else for that matter. just ask the players of Asheron's Call 2. still, cb1 lasted over 4 years, including a year past when its successor was announced. not really a bad track record as such things go. (it's also clear to those who pay attention to such things that CB2 has been designed to avoid the need for a CB3...)

Hell yeah I would.

I disagree.

Maybe allot of the vets would hit the road, but new users would actually feel like they'd be able to compete. Right now all they see is 6.5 million is the top MPR O_o, and then they log off, lol.

They don't even give the game a chance, because the game does not give them a chance.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 23 2011 1:48 AM EST

I start a new MMO game and often see lots of lvl 200 people in places and that doesn't make me just quit off the bat. In a lot of games you know you will never get a shot at getting even near the top but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll immediately quit because of that. CB is actually rather better at getting that high than a lot of other games are.

There's quite the difference between level 200 and 6,500,000 MPR visually.

Maybe we need to rescale the way our MPR looks (although I don't think a change like this would help CB a whole lot)?

But then what about in cb3 with the new vets worrying about newcomers coming in and looking at the vets 6.5mil characters? It's the same with cb2 as it would with cb3..

R-r-r-r-r-Rescale!?!?!

I am badly looking forward for a fresh start. All does that have quit or take a break just cant make its back in the top 10 unless playing for year. New start will bring new passion. All game start from scrap once in a while.

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] January 24 2011 8:27 PM EST

Am I the only person who thinks they can crack into the top 10 eventually?

I look at 6.5m mpr and say to myself "I can do that.. eventually."

It gives me a goal to work for.. a reason to keep playing. If I didn't think I had a chance to crack into the top 10 at some point I wouldn't be playing right now.
