Useless Items (in General)

[Jedi] Danludar February 20 2011 3:09 PM EST

So as we all know there are quite a few items around here that have no use.

Executioner's Swords, Katana(not in spellcheck btw), Mithril Cuirass(borh words aren't in spellcheck), Gloves of Mercy to name a few.

I think we need to find some uses to these items or change them. There are a ton of other items that don't even get used. Does anyone else agree?

agree

Allow GoM to dual wield those low end weapons.

Pwned February 20 2011 3:51 PM EST

just allow it to dual wield, and disable ranged on the char equipped with it

If i was gonna suggest a boost to the GoM and/or MenC, it would be to make the + bonus affect the highest PTH weapon equipped on the minion.

Your auction for An Elven Stiletto [55x1] (+0) has sold for $1.

Possibly related to useless items? :)

Shadow Ruler February 20 2011 4:11 PM EST

Executioner's Sword
base damage 82
base to hit 40
Deals damage * X where X =(User str/opposed str), 0.75 < X < 2
(can be either dex or str, i'm just giving ideas)

Katana
base damage 74
base to hit 60
The sharp blade of the katana makes trained BL 50% more effective (if 0.75, makes it 1.125) but reduces VA by 25%.

I come up with suggestions, don't blame me if they are unbalanced at their inception.

rusty February 20 2011 4:41 PM EST

Make executioners sword 3% chance of instant ko on strike.

[Jedi] Danludar February 20 2011 4:57 PM EST

All pretty good ideas. I like the idea of adding effects to the items vs getting rid of them. There are already to few viable choices to just throw items away.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] February 20 2011 5:03 PM EST

Dudemus that obviously makes sense, but if dual wield was implemented you could obviously nerf the items that you would allow to be dual wielding and find a balance within the current system.

Heck this would add a whole new minion type, maybe adding skills....like um berserk, or rage. Things that make the minion attack relentlessly losing hp each attack, or possible hits per round of combat is increase by 5 (insert random idea here)......but keeping this balanced so it not OP. Make each item that is obsolete help this character type.?.?.?!?!.?.?!?

[Jedi] Danludar February 20 2011 5:08 PM EST

MCs could boost the skill since it's a light/heavy armor type. NS should check this out haha.

If we're actually going to talk about changes I vote for a new economical system to add to CB!!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 20 2011 5:48 PM EST

that isn't my reason, i had asked for dw years ago, those are jon's words.

QBRanger February 20 2011 6:33 PM EST

The Exec and katana were good weapons in CB1 where not everyone had a NUB and millions of CB flowed into the system. Now, esp with a declining player base, it is quite easy to get the weapon of choice. A MoD may be harder for non-USD players.

The MC used to be a decent alternative to an Adam but there are far better armors for both tanks and walls. The TSA with its regeneration and strength boost for tanks, and the adam for walls.

The GoM and MeC were both put out during the great evasion debacle in an attempt to give tanks some chance to hit the super high evasions with their exceptional minuses to PTH.

Right now, IMO only, these items can either stay or go. Almost everyone knows they are nothing but money pits to try to upgrade. If a new player with their NUB puts a million or 2 into one before they figure it out, o well. It is just NUB money anyway.

Would the game be better and cleaner without these 'useless' items? Sure.

It is imperative they be removed? Probably not.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] February 20 2011 6:37 PM EST

GoM and MenC should not be removed they have a niche where they are useful at.

AdminShade February 20 2011 6:38 PM EST

I checked the CB spelling checker and all words you refer to are listed there. If they are not in your own spelling checker, that issue we cannot help you with :)

Pwned February 20 2011 7:31 PM EST

They just need to be boosted. Make them add to melee damage or add pth per enchant as well as the percentage, just do something.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] February 20 2011 7:32 PM EST

They could use a little boosting, but the GoM isn't bad you know.

Pwned February 20 2011 7:36 PM EST

the GoM isn't bad you know.

The top ten are on storage chars...... I dunno....

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] February 20 2011 8:01 PM EST

Why does everything have to compete with the top melee weapons? Having a second string makes no difference in the scheme of things. If we rally for new things, let's push and beg and plead for new supporter items, not a Katana that's marginally different.

Unappreciated Misnomer February 20 2011 8:22 PM EST

Id like to know where the MC and GoM fit in cb, I think they dont belong on a NUB or NCB. I can only see them used for end game where +200 or more can make good use of those items

[Jedi] Danludar February 21 2011 12:02 PM EST

Kill the NuB and NCB! jk

My god, a voice of reason in this topic
