300 movies, 1 phone: help wanted (in Off-topic)

AdminShade August 27 2011 11:45 AM EDT

I own little over 300 original dvds and buying new one sometimes is a hassle.
I have a phone running on Android and I hope someone can recommend me a (free) app for android in which I can put all the titles of the movies I own to look up when doubting if I already have that one or not.

Why don't you just save the list as a Google doc? No app needed.

notepad and search? any text editor with a search should work, unless your'e looking for cover art etc

I think he wants a quick cross reference.

searching a txt doc would be the fastest/easiest then no?

But Google Docs would allow updating from anywhere, whereas Notepad would require the phone (or the DropBox app).

scanning the barcodes to add them is something that google docs will not be able to do and would save much time.

I wasn't disagreeing with google docs, it is a text editor and would be good due to cloud storage. I was just broadening his possible choices if he wouldn't want to use google docs.

Haven't used one of the QR code readers, but haven't really noticed those on many dvds/cases, are they that prevalent yet?

the bar code apps for android phones will allow you to do the upc symbols as well.
