Favorite Classical(pseudo) Art Piece (in Contests)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] November 29 2011 12:11 PM EST

By classical, I mean something that is of a traditional media, painting, sculpture, drawing, etc.

Whatever piece I enjoy the most (other than my example) will win 1M CBD!!!

Disclaimer: When you post a piece of art, keep in mind the PG rules of CB, please keep it "tasteful."

For example my favorite:

Demigod November 29 2011 12:14 PM EST

Ah, the double boob hold. A true classic, indeed. ;)

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] November 29 2011 12:42 PM EST

Not exactly classical, but very cool street art by Edgar Müller.

This isn't a photo, but rather a Photo Realistic Ainting by Alyssa Monks.

I think it's amazing. ;)

Fixed it for you, you forgot your closing / in the html img tag, but as for how you saw the picture, I have no idea.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 29 2011 3:31 PM EST

Thanks!

I won't link her site, as there's some pictures that might possible be classed a non PG. ;)

But her work is, frankly awesome.

Although I do know a few critics who aren't impressed, as well, it's just like real life...

Quyen November 29 2011 3:31 PM EST

then it was Titan his job! :P

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 29 2011 3:32 PM EST

Er, of Photo Realism in general, not her work in specific...

LoL!

Quyen November 29 2011 3:35 PM EST

Can u see what it is? :D win.

AdminG Beee November 29 2011 3:47 PM EST

This has no religious meaning for me but the first time I viewed the picture hanging in the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow there was a definite "wow" factor.

Salvador Dali : Christ of St John of the cross.

Zebra?

Wifey has a thing for Edgar Degas and we've got a few of his replica prints throughout the house. Her favourite is La Toilette which hangs outside our bedroom en-suite.

We also have a colour print of Michelangelo's Hand of God giving life to Adam hanging above our bed.

She's actually viewed the whole image on the Sistine Chapel ceiling but unfortunately was a schoolkid at the time. Her most vivid recollection of the experience was that the ceiling was very high.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] November 29 2011 6:52 PM EST

Wow Beee, those are pretty amazing.

This is going to be an insanely tough contest. So many different styles, but all so awesome. I'm surprised no one else has done a sculpture though.

I went to the Louvre when I was around 16, and those were my favorites.

AdminShade November 30 2011 2:26 PM EST

Beee: think that second one (fingers) is available in download somewhere at high resolution? :D

Quyen November 30 2011 2:58 PM EST

Zebra?

Success!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 4 2011 11:03 PM EST

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 9 2011 2:34 PM EST

GL, you're the winner, sending money now! Unfortunately, your picture got taken down or something; so now I can't see it.

As a close second I'm going to give Albino 250k for Pieta.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 9 2011 2:56 PM EST

Here was the winner, got it from the original site:

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 9 2011 3:21 PM EST

Awesome! :D Thanks!

I was utterly blown away by the level to technical detail when I first saw the picture. ;)

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 9 2011 3:23 PM EST

Yeah, it still astounds me that some of those paintings aren't actually photographs...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 9 2011 3:31 PM EST

I think she's cheated a little, and uses the water effects to give the pictures their photo quality.

Here non water based ones look a lot more like paintings than photos! ;)

But still, it's awesome work!
