Your most anticipated games of 2012? (in Off-topic)

Gandalf January 13 2012 6:27 AM EST

Just wondering what games everyone is wanting to buy this year. I dont think there is as many big titles as last year but I'm sure to buy a few.

Mine is Mass effect 3 (PS3)

So, what are yours?

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 13 2012 6:41 AM EST

Diablo 3 assuming it's coming out this year.

Gandalf January 13 2012 6:43 AM EST

Wish my computer could run it and id get it too, it pay to play or still free like Diablo 2?

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 13 2012 7:11 AM EST

D3 too!

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 13 2012 7:26 AM EST

I'm rather excited to have a new fast-paced FPS, and this year may give us some good ones: Firefall, Tribes: Ascend, Nexuiz, and PlanetSide 2 all look great, and I really hope they survive beta.

Besides that, all hail the glorious D3!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 7:27 AM EST

I'm not excited by D3. :(

It's far too similar to D2. It's not innovative, and offers nothing new. I'll be getting it for free though, so I'll play it! ;)

There's FF13-2 coming out, and a few more sequals, so 2012 should be good for gaming. ;)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 7:28 AM EST

Borderlands 2. ;)

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 13 2012 7:30 AM EST

not innovative

FF13-2

Err...

Gandalf January 13 2012 7:31 AM EST

Oooo the new FF13, but its so boring playing FF13, i might give it another shot sometime, just so linear!! (only played for 20 hours)

Borderlands 2, watched my dad and my bro play it, looked very cool indeed. May give it a shot! (unless it's just xbox)

Josh [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 13 2012 7:38 AM EST

Twisted Metal

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 13 2012 8:06 AM EST

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Guild Wars 2
Diablo 3
Borderlands 2
Mass Effect 3

Quyen January 13 2012 8:36 AM EST

Borderlands 2. ;)

Waldo January 13 2012 8:39 AM EST

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] January 13 2012 8:50 AM EST

Your most anticipated games of 2012?

The English Olympics.

Angel of Death [Hell Blenders] January 13 2012 8:59 AM EST

final fantasy 13 part 2 and any other final fantasy that gone come out this year

Demigod January 13 2012 9:09 AM EST

Diablo 3
Borderlands 2
Mass Effect 3

But neither of my computers can handle Diablo 3, so I'm stuck waiting for the inevitable 360 port.

Gandalf January 13 2012 9:46 AM EST

Good call Bast, I shall be watching most of it!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 13 2012 9:49 AM EST

Halo 4
Diablo 3
Mass Effect 3

In that order.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 9:56 AM EST

Err...

Well, supposidly, Square-Enix have fixed all the complaints that FF13 bought. Like the linear 'tunnel crawl' gameplay.

So they're innovating on their past design.

D3.

It's even the same 5 classes, just repackaged. /bleh

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 9:57 AM EST

Tekken x SF
SF x Tekken

;)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 9:59 AM EST

The English Olympics.

/meh

We're gonna win a handful of medals. The same events as we do every year.

Everyone else will win the same events they do every year.

TV coverage will be primarily of the beach vollyball.

But highlights will be gymnastics 'fails'. ;)

But the downside is for about 6 months I'm going to be unable to get to work, yet still be expected to make it in on time.

:'(

Olympics. You can have them.

Please?

Lochnivar January 13 2012 10:18 AM EST

Hey, the Olympics can do phenomenal things for a city.

For example:
Vancouver 2012: Lots of people downtown, no riots.

AdminShade January 13 2012 10:50 AM EST

Diablo III or so it was until it became known that it is pay to play and does not contain a single player.

Demigod January 13 2012 10:55 AM EST

and does not contain a single player.

Do what now? The last I checked, it does -- just with DRM that required an internet connection to start.

QBRanger January 13 2012 11:18 AM EST

CB3?

Or at least some real changes to CB2!

Gohan [Ka-Tet of the Serene] January 13 2012 11:32 AM EST

When did they announce D3 was pay to play?

Lord Bob January 13 2012 11:49 AM EST

Bioshock Infinite.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 13 2012 11:53 AM EST

When did they announce D3 was pay to play?

Indeed, everything I've read has said it is free to play. You can sign up for 1 year of WoW to get the game free itself I think though.

Lochnivar January 13 2012 11:58 AM EST

I'm looking forward to:
Survivor: Apocalypse

It isn't coming until December though.

Demigod January 13 2012 12:00 PM EST

Shade may have just invented "accidental trolling." :D

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 13 2012 12:05 PM EST

I haven't been able to find anything official stating its going to have monthly fees. Between SC2 still being free and the Auction Houses for real money (I think blizz takes a cut) it had better be free to play. If not, as much as I loved and played d2, I would pass on it.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 13 2012 12:57 PM EST

D3 definitely has Single Player, and blizzard hasn't even hinted at pay to play... at all. However, since Activision-Blizzard, I see where you are coming from Pit.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 1:24 PM EST

Just wait till Blizzard merges thier Battle-net accounts, and makes you have aone to play any of their games.

Oh and charge you that monthly fee they do for wow for the priveldge. ;)

AdminQBVerifex January 13 2012 2:34 PM EST

The Most Deadly Game.

That's right, hunting people for sport!

But seriously, I dunno, I can't buy new games right now as it interferes with my school. :( That's why I haven't bought Skyrim.

Jecht January 13 2012 2:43 PM EST

The Last of us.

AdminShade January 13 2012 3:20 PM EST

Indeed, everything I've read has said it is free to play. You can sign up for 1 year of WoW to get the game free itself I think though.

afaik the signing up with WoW only gives you free availability to play it for 1 year, after that it's back to pay to play online...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 13 2012 3:24 PM EST

Nah mate, the yearly subs for WoW lets you DL the game form Blizzard for free. ;)

There's no monthly subs.

Yet.

Lord Bob January 13 2012 3:48 PM EST

Nobody else for Bioshock?

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 13 2012 4:18 PM EST

Also I am Alive
and SSX deadly descents

Gohan [Ka-Tet of the Serene] January 13 2012 5:14 PM EST

Yeah, purchasing an annual pass from WoW gives you a few things, a mount in wow(Tyrael's Charger), guaranteed beta access to the new expansion(MoP) and then also the game client for D3, which is as most people have stated "supposedly" F2P. I'm pretty sure with their USD AH they will take a small cut, which will even out their lust for making it a pay to play game.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] January 14 2012 7:31 AM EST

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is my number 1
Diable 3 is my number 2

I already have Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning held for me at my local Gamestop ^^ Can't beat the fact that R. A. Salvatore and Curt Schilling worked together on this game ^^

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 14 2012 9:00 AM EST

Not to mention Ken Rolston and Todd MacFarlane in addition to those two :)

[Where Shirt]Freekie [Lower My Fees] January 14 2012 5:25 PM EST

Anyone else wanna see South Park: The Game?

Lord Bob January 14 2012 5:25 PM EST

YES!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 14 2012 5:35 PM EST

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I forgot about this, I too am very very excited for this.

Gandalf January 14 2012 5:42 PM EST

Not heard of it, sounds like a PC title?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 14 2012 6:10 PM EST

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdoms_of_Amalur:_Reckoning

I'm excited b/c it's an RPG and Ken Rolston the lead designer of Morrowind and Oblivion is working on it.

Gandalf January 14 2012 6:13 PM EST

Ooo, cheers for that!!

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] January 14 2012 6:50 PM EST

For those so interested, Kingdoms of Amalur currently has a 2/7 shipping date

AdminShade January 14 2012 7:21 PM EST

D3 definitely has Single Player
That'd be very good!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 14 2012 7:41 PM EST

But the Single player requires on line play.

There's no off line single player in D3, unlike the previous.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 14 2012 8:22 PM EST

It's not online requirement, it's probably going to be something very similar to Starcraft 2. You have to just log online once every month to play single player offline. Yes it's a little stupid; but it could be worse.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] January 19 2012 8:12 AM EST

So i just tested out Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on the playable demo for Xbox 360 and OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Love the gameplay and the graphics are phenomenal!

Gandalf January 19 2012 8:18 AM EST

Draco, what type of RPG is it? Or is it a mixture? Is it open world or more like a dungeon hack n slash?

I could obviously go watch tons of videos about it, but i thought asking you would be quicker!

The Pope [Serenity In Chaos] January 19 2012 8:19 AM EST

I have heard you always have to be online with D3 so that they can monitor in game errors and cheats, so players can't take advantage of the real money AH... Those kinds of things...

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] January 19 2012 8:22 AM EST

AH is only available with multiplayer.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 19 2012 8:27 AM EST

As far as i'm aware mate, you still have access to AH in single player, but single player is online, just like multi player is.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] January 19 2012 8:53 AM EST

Draco, what type of RPG is it? Or is it a mixture? Is it open world or more like a dungeon hack n slash?

Reminds me of Fable type of gameplay and map usage... but i have only hit level one thus far so don't have alot of experience in the game yet ^^

Gandalf January 19 2012 8:55 AM EST

Fable. *sad eyes*

Fable 2 was poor, never tried 3 due to how poor 2 was. I'll check reviews etc out soon though.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] January 19 2012 9:00 AM EST

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning also has some sort of link to Mass Effect 3... a special unlock when you buy the game or something... I received it when i played the demo... but don't remember what it said exactly

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 19 2012 9:16 AM EST

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning also has some sort of link to Mass Effect 3... a special unlock when you buy the game or something... I received it when i played the demo... but don't remember what it said exactly

You should find out, b/c I'll be buying both!

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 19 2012 12:38 PM EST

Holy hell, Kingdom of Amalur is amazing, it's not my style of graphics, but the game play is awesome even in the demo. The fighting system seems pretty cool, and the plot looks like it's going to be pretty awesome.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] January 19 2012 1:35 PM EST

Isn't it sweet? I am falling more and more in love with it by the minute!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 19 2012 1:51 PM EST

/flabergasted

Damn me that game looks good...

Gohan [Ka-Tet of the Serene] January 19 2012 1:56 PM EST

Titan, with those 2 games you get an exclusive in game bonus( i dont believe its been fully disclosed exactly what it is though) for purchasing the other. So buying 1 grants you something in the other in both.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] January 19 2012 1:59 PM EST

Yeah, playing through the demo it said I got an exclusive weapon and some skin. I'd assume that's what comes with ME3 when you buy KoA:R.
