I'm interested Ranger, in how the voting sits with you? You're for smaller government yes? Less interference from government? And yet the majority of the people who passed this are from your side of the fence?
(Not an attack by the way, I'm genuinely interested in how it makes you feel)
I would think that given the vote spread on the bill, that the Senate is a strong hope. In the house, 206 R's and 42 D's voted yes, while 28 R's and 140 D's voted no. It seems to me like the Democrats have our best interest in this one, Ranger.
I really don't get why.

JW,
I do not take offense at your question in the least.
I guess I do not follow the line on everything Republicans in Congress desire.
Yes, I understand the security issues, but that is a pathetic excuse to be able to virtually look at anything anyone does online.
This crossed the Big Brother line IMO, and it is not even a close call.

Ok, my big question on this is how can this be constitutional even if they pass it? I have read a bit and it just doesn't seem constitutional at all. So even if this passes won't it be challenged in some way?

I think it will be deemed constitutional in the same manner the Patriot Act was.
This is not an endorsement of it, however I do believe it will be proven to be constitutional. Under some wartime powers act or such similar prior legislation.
Everything's constitutional until someone brings it before the Supreme Court, and they kick it out.

Yeah pretty much...
The one thing I don't like about the current SCOTUS is that they seem to be ok with taking away rights for "safety."
