Wild Shot in the Dark here with Assumptions of course.
The Pictures shows a fully enclosed area, or an idea thereof, with Measurements. Now knowing you are not an instructor doesn't say much in the way of hints. If I am to be different than others in saying what your job is with math involved. Then I will go with these guesses.
The shape assists (via Azimuths) in finding Angular Distance inside a Polygon.
To fit you in a job that uses this you are a Surveyor.

Its probably relevant in that you use Pythagorean triple values specifically from 37-53-90 degree triangles.
You are either building something or programming something.
Tha Natural is correct! I use pythagorean theorem to square up walls and square room layouts. I also can use pythagorean theorem to determine the lengths of any of rafter from a hip roof :http://renaissanceronin.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/hiproof.gif
