What Anti-Virus do you use? (in Off-topic)

Dudster4 April 25 2013 8:15 AM EDT

Just got rid of the nasty White Screen Virus on my buddies machine. Noticed he had no active protection so I put my Bitdefender 2013 Toal Security on it because I had an extra key. So I figured I'd ask everyone what they use and if they like it? I use Bitdefender 2013 Total Security because they sent me and email after my old one expired. 20 bucks I believe for 3 PC's for a year. It works really great and though I don't visit any questionable sites really on this PC i've never had any problems with a Virus.

Basically AVG free with malwarebytes. In general there is no best Antivirus, just ones that cover more signatures than others.

Unappreciated Misnomer April 25 2013 9:12 AM EDT

None..I'm using ubuntu os. Who the hell makes malicious anything for that.

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] April 25 2013 12:13 PM EDT

Microsoft Security Essentials.. I see no real reason to use anything else if you are running windows.

MSE as well. I know people like to jab at MS products, but it's actually very good, and I've switched all of my computers over to it. It uses little RAM, is very user friendly, and it never pesters me with occasional pop-ups like other free ones do.

I've caved into an MSEnthusist as well.

Stopzilla(I bought the lifetime Key years ago) and System Mechanic Pro( Got a 5 yr subscription) for me this has been the best combination. Stopzilla is a one stop Anti-Spyware/Malware killer and SMP is an all in one take care of your computer program. SMP can be a bit intimidating and suck up your RAM if you dont pay attention. All in all everything can be settled with a bit of tinkering and learning hiw things work. I use MSE for the kids mini laptops it's good for something so streamlined but this is because it is made specifically for windows by the people who made windows so you get updates very quickly. If I did not have Stopzilla and SMP I would lean on this for the lower comps in my house and probably Computer Associates(Corporate Level Antivirus) for my best comp.

I use avast, forgot I even had it lol

Stopzilla sounds, and googled, to be junkware. What type of browsing behavior warrants a benji worth of condoms? Ewe. Seriously now, Best Buy is satan's help desk, and don't ever pay for anti-stuff programs when free is better. Especially when one said wild cat can pee Alien murder-blood into the face of pricey confidence bundles after they fail.

Gun: You have issues and are yet another reason for me leaving. Everything has good and bad press. In the past 10 years of me having Stopzilla I have had ZERO problems. As a matter of a fact I have slaved other peoples hdd to my computer and fixed thiers with it. So well with all due respect to your rather ignorant post have some neutral press that weighs the good and bad. Who knows maybe, just maybe you'll learn something worthwhile.

I'll play your troll games, Zenbeck. :) Hit your head on this wall.
Kay! Let's start with education. I've learned my presence is so powerful could've left for nearly two more years and still be another ultimate cause for your purge. That anything I say within earshot is a terror attack. That you were a devote money sock of said devil back in '03 and will forever be to this one name since a lifetime key emotionally locks you in. So much that you missed the review degrading what you bought to be about what I said it is. Let me help with that.
the world-famous STOPzilla with Antivirus which was commonly associated with a slightly awkward mix of decent efficiency and the somewhat cartoonish graphics of the User Interface. The product was good enough for basic antimalware protection, though never really ranked to be in the top of the industry ratings, mainly due to usability issues such as long scan times and lack of features that are normally supplied by competitors.
Problems it still has. Oh and they've been doing this job for a decade but had false positives and uninstall issues with the '13 edition test phase still. Then I rolled down further to read "Some competitors offer more features." then two clicks on that site later to find they only took their gold in mal & spy. Which you can claim a victory towards, but you trumpeted those two so readily already, so I'm guessing you've had to google recently for the good in your product so you could con others into buying what you got. Which is more or less a common practise for someone with...issues. Case or not, I was repeating the general techie statement for the past decade with a hidden message. One you missed thus proving you are actually more ignorant than I in this matter. Won't tell you what I'm talking about either since you might use it on someone else, if you ever did such things mentioned, only to erase too much. Will leave you and Britney alone, kaybra.
Wait...I can't end like that. I have a foot to earn! (Which was meant to show I put my foot in my mouth? Which has been the exact opposite in all those hate parties we've held. Which is also what you just did for the fourth(?)time this week. Which leads me to believe you're toeing for a trolling, but the good news is this is probably the closest you seen my foot near my mouth as you've proved a proclaimed junky-anti is just a buggy below par anti. Revel in your time.)
Here's the reasonable thing I probably should stuck to instead of baking that biscuit above, but I know you love biscuits. *cough* Your provoking argument invalidates itself by refusing to accept 3/4ths of the post into it's context and my shot at bad naming should not have been taken to such heart. The articles did little to thwart what profound opinion you believe to be at play. Standing up for one ashamed company did not deny my overarching statement for other venues. Have come under the impression the issue at hand isn't your actual agenda. If you truly wanted to lash out at me for other ongoings I'm sure there are other avenues available. When you do present your next attack. Don't make a strawman out of feathers. Also, I know "with all due respect" means the same as both middle fingers. Did you? ;)

Gun you are just plain out sad. You are so busy focusing on me that you have not had an unbiased view what-so-ever. Bad move as this defeats your supposed real review. IF you had done this for EVERYONE'S suggestion then it may have worked. So all you have really done from the get go is prove you are doing nothing but trolling. Good job, well done and all that.

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] April 26 2013 6:03 AM EDT

But my "real" review was reviewing the review you didn't review and if I was only focused on you there wouldn't be a review of that review then there would only be you. If all I was doing was nothing but trolling then there wouldn't be my review of your review which you failed to denied as trolling. Thus you need to go back and review the review! Which may sound like trolling, but you weren't paying attention the second time either. Meaning you're still trolling and I'm still reviewing. Go, go spybot.
Good job, well done and all that.
De nada.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 26 2013 8:14 AM EDT

Where's an Admin when you need one?

A Lesser AR of 15 [Red Permanent Assurance] April 26 2013 4:25 PM EDT

To have you of all people say that...beautiful.
Oh but I'm not letting you off that easy. Because I bothered to read.
Stopzilla sounds, and googled, to be junkware.
See that? I said the name sounds bad. A google said it was. My opinion of stopzilla stopped at the name right there in simple text. Meaning you had nothing to say to me what so ever. Yet here we are. You went out of your way to get my goat so if anyone should be asking for an admin it's me. Because I actually read into this and didn't start a pointless fight out of "I'll make them remember me" egotism. Only continued out of it. Funnily am more offended seeing you act the victim than I was at any other day this week with your crud and I know that must make you happy.
Since only one of us still remembers the topic at hand I'll top us all off.

For anyone that is reading for a glimmer of computer hope. Go to cracked.com and search "5 Common Misconceptions That Destroy Computers" because that article will be far more helpful than anything else read here. Be well.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 26 2013 4:30 PM EDT

TL;DR I just do not have time for this anymore.

Gun take care of yourself Good Bye.
