Why does DB do this? (in General)

He artificially increases the items prices in the auction house, for no reason other than to grief. This guy kept raising my bid on the morgul hammer to my max bid. Game is already near death and you have community members like this who troll still.

I put the bid like 3 hours before it expired and this guy just trolls. He does this to every auction too. Makes me less inclined to play.

Hmm I was just about to give a list of a few valid reasons for this and you come on like a jerk with an attitude. No wonder people don't really want to continue playing. The community we used to have is very dead and is now replaced with stupidity and arrogance.

Yes because I can, because if I want the item more than you I am willing to pay for it. Perhaps I have the same max price ceiling as you or other s in mind. Maybe I dont want to see items go for cheap with all that disposable battle rewards afloat. There is nothing I am doing that is wrong.

Im glad you feel validated from what I said, but you have yet to prove anything other than I have a track record for bidding, buying and reselling. All which are within the terms and service agreement of this game. So all the whining means I should try harder because you think I am being unfair.

Ye well, seems like you miss the entire point. This game is dying, you've been around here for a very long time. Cut the new players some slack so they stick around. Remember a year ago? You barely sold anything cuz there were no players that needed something. You're killing them of right from the start. And you say "scared of competition"? You're just making sure you dont have competition because you already have the coin to outbid them. Let the game florish again, and then continue with your actions.

This game will not flourish again unless Jon Elliot, the powers that be make it otherwise. The moment he officially announced his leave was the catalyst, and we the players are only living in the decay of that beautiful time.

It's an open auction house and we can all place a bid up to an amount we are prepared to pay.

Eh...complaining about this seems kinda silly. Money is really easy to get in this game and there are tons of items floating around. If you want something, just making a WTB thread and offer the amount you want to pay. You will probably get several offers in a reasonable amount of time (assuming you are buying at a reasonable price). Shoot, people might even just give you the item for free...

To turn a profit, corner the market, manipulate prices etc.

If he wants to go through a LOT of work for tiny profits then he is completely allowed too.

Whether or not you could read the terms of use were not in question. Hindering new players in an already struggling game however, was. I didn't feel validated by you proving my statements, quite the contrary in fact. I find it even more sad that this game has players like you with your attitude still around, especially when there is an effort to revitalize. So, you go ahead, quote what you want to quote and do what you want to do, but, as new players leave just remember that there are things that could be done to keep them here and poking at them for no reason isn't it. Eventually you will run out of auctions to snipe and people to sell to. When that day comes maybe you'll have some ** respect for the people that are still here and were actually trying to do something positive.

John leaving wasn't an end-all so stop trying to pin everything failing on one moment. At one time there were droves of people here, admins, and events, and community. The gradual decline in activity would indicate a gradual change, not a momentous one.

To any new players reading this, there are people out here that will help you out. Post in FS/WTB like stated above and one of us will make sure you get what you need. Underage doesn't own all the rares in the game :)

I fully support db's desire to further strengthen the CB economy by encouraging individuals to pay the absolute maximum amount that either of them are willing to part with.
I'm sure all know that middlemen are the vital lubricant that keeps the means of production sliding smoothly beneath the consumer, without regular greasing of this sort the economy as we know it would cease to exist. The ease of acquiring money and particularly the invidious NUB bonus for new accounts would certainly lead to utter chaos or even communism without CONSTANT VIGILANCE. I saw two new accounts this month alone, in a couple of weeks they'll have billions of cb and then where will we be, I ask you?

That said, it does seem inconsistent with this noble goal to do it on player auctions in addition to central bank auctions. That only transfers money between existing players and doesn't support the economy as much as it implies that there is some unstated arbitrary minimum price for any given item.

There is no Min/Max pricing on any flicking this that sticks with the exception of transfer costs. Prices are on a damned sliding scale in accordance with Xfers, supply and demand. Start doing that absolute max B'S and we might as well say: "Hey NUBs sell your CB at $10-1 5 a Mil!" Seriously this is the round - a - bout logic I am seeing. DB quit being a Fricken jerk.
