Apple, but wait for 3G

My Apple vote would be waiting for the 3G obviously. Without that, I think it is a dead heat with all the great offerings out there. But the new iPhone will eke out into the lead in just about all ways except battery life, IMO...

Not Blackjack

I picked up a blackjack due to rebates and incentives... not the best choice. I'm definitely not excited about it's "inability" to effectively cruise the internet, and it's internal calendar (and other features) are not user friendly in my opinion.

I would probably choose the iPhone next or the Palm (if you're looking for a more classic PDA style device). The Palm is also cheaper than the iPhone (if my memory serves me correctly).

iPhone

Well, it's totally awesome. Basicly, it's a mini-PC + MP3 player + phone. I mean, come on... who doesn't want one of those? The third generation (3G) is coming out very soon and it's supposed to be about half the price of the currently avalable iPhones, and it's generally better. The battery is unfortunately a little worse, but unless you're a survivalist who goes out on trips with nothing but a phone in hand for months on end, that won't matter too much.

Hate to do it

But I also choose the 3G.

HTC or Apple

I have the ATT Tilt (HTC) and have access to the "old" iPhone. I love the Tilt and all the things it can do but it may not be for everyone. If you ever need to compose a Word project on the fly, it's your phone. I have lots of stuff on it with the addition of a 2 gig micro SD card (17 dollars at best buy). the nice thing about those lil cards is you can have several of them and store what ever you want and not worry about memory problems, just switch between cards if you need to. I've used the built in GPS with the free windows live search over and over and its great (if not a bit slow on acquiring your initial location at times). The keyboard is small but very very easy to use. And most importantly, with the exception of not being able to switch between my characters, I love playing CB on it!
<br> The iPhone is a splendid device though. It's sexy and streamlined and smoooooth. If you ever need to text anything and have slightly larger than normal fingers I would play with one at a store before you buy. That is the one part I HATE on the iPhone, the touch keyboard as the only means of entry. And unless they change it on the new phone, you CAN NOT even use a stylus if you wanted to. It doesn't work.
Hope that helps a little.
Oh and yes, the Tilt (3G) is very noticeably faster than the CURRENT iPhone.

iPhone

I'm actually posting this from my iPhone ;)

For me the iPhone looks the coolest and it's probably the one I'd go for myself due to vanity.
That said, I think there's many "others" out there that perform faster, offer more functionality, have a better interface and come cheaper :)

My Sony Ericsson hasn't let me down, and I've been playing CB on it for 20 months now. I really should upgrade....

iPhone

No brainer... been playing CB for months on my iPhone - particularly with the upgraded interfaced (CB) is easy and fun. All other features are fantastic plus iTunes mp3 compatibility. If you're collection is strictly iTunes then the iPhone is a must. Also the large screen is great for movies. Watched "Ratatouille" on the flight the other day and was mesmerized. Wait for 3g though.

Only negative is battery life which is supposed to be much improved in the next version. Life is great but having to send it to the shop to get it replaced stinks!

Love it so much that my wife had to have one too so now we have two. That says a lot considering she's not a tech head like me... if she wanted one because of what she saw me doing with it, then it must be pretty darn good. Neither of us would go back to any other phone.
