As some of you have noticed, a new score system was introduced on Sunday.

(Well, it's really just an adjustment of the weights in the existing score system -- it works the same way, and no factors were added to the formula.)

Is the new system producing better scores than the old? (And yes, I'm deliberately leaving "better" open to interpretation for this poll.)

I voted better...

...although it's probably too soon to say for sure. One thing that is improved is challenge bonus. I know a lot of us sitting around the top 50 - 75, the front page of scores if you like, are seeing the first positive challenge bonuses in quite some time.

the old system was fixed!

now tis "fixed better!"

-- Admindudemus

Just get rid of the double tapping sucking a lot of score please. Have it take a bit of score, but it really is not a true indication of beating someone, fair and square so to say.

-- QBRanger

doubletap loss score penalty is already a lot lower than a "real" loss would be... I think it's okay the way it is.

-- AdminJonathan

It's too soon for me

I'm too small (and haven't really been large enough in the past to have a strong view) for the change to really have an effect on me.

-- AdminQBGentlemanLoser

Positive!

Just got my first positive challenge bonus in maybe a month. I love it.

-- BootyGod

My Challenge Bonus shot way up

And going with the "what's good for Bob is good for CB" line of reasoning, I applaud the new system.

No Opinion

I don't really have a strong opinion, as long as things stay leveled out and Hubbell stays around where I "think" it should be in score. I do think the change will allow people to take short, quick shots at higher spots, but I don't suppose that is really a problem.

I will be curious to see how non-clan teams do, as they are often left alone and would generally be higher in score than they would as a clanner (even in the previous scheme). Time will tell!

-- QBsutekh137

tempted

Was tempted to go non clan earlier just to see how high I could get scorewise!

-- QBJohnnywas

I lost a few people due to -%, gained a few people. Honestly though, I think I'm too low in the score system to give you a valid opinion since I've been stable all through change month, free retrain week and now the new score system.

Huh?

My score doesn't seem to be inflating like some others, I've been in the dead zone for some time now and it just seems to be staying the same. My challenge bonus is higher, my rewards therefore are a little higher but overall the results seem to have equaled out.

6 BA has been saved

I think this will make the 6 BA ranged much more interested, especially when PR is actually in the equation, and a challenge bonus is possible

-- three4thsforsaken

Too soon to tell

While I'm finally able to get positive challenge bonuses and have been able to add some people who in the past would have given me some big negative bonuses I think it's too early to say. If score begin to balance out then good but if they just keep inflating then what is the point of challenge bonuses because soon everyone would probably see 100%. I don't think it will get that far but you can see what I'm getting about.

Better! For now...

This double-digit challenge bonus in 7/20 is awesome... now it's in the thirties though, and scores are still rising. If we've got LA and/or Koy getting challenge bonus one of these days, it's gone a bit too high :P But as is, it's awesome :D

-- TheHatchetman

With a mere 3.5% in favour of the old system being better and almost 40% of the active membership having already voted - I'd regard this change to the score system as an utter and complete success :)

-- Sickone

Even near the top, rewards are less with a lower opponents score.

This new system allows me, and I am sure others, to keep a fightlist longer then 7-10 characters.

Now going through BA is less of a chore since I used to have to wait till my opponents heal.

This new change is great.

-- QBRanger

Power?

My list has always been 20+. If you don't have negatives, and plus only matters if opponent score is above your PR, why does it matter? Your Power is north of 6 million, so no one has reached that level yet. I assume you aren't getting positive challenge on anyone, Ranger?

-- QBsutekh137

sut, i would assume that ranger is referring then to that hidden bonus that he and i found through testing scores one sunday. iirc, he was getting 16 or so percent higher xp gains on his list than i was on mine, but when we fought the same exact opponents our rewards were exactly the same.

this was with both of us in the same ba refresh rate and on sunday with no clan bonuses. we also neither had an challenge bonuses at the time. the only conclusion we were left with was a hidden bonus that came from him being able to fight higher opponents than i could.

i am not sure that is what he means, but that is what i thought of when i read his recent comment.

-- Admindudemus

Dude is 100% correct. The higher I fight, even without a CB, I get slightly better rewards.

Dude and I proved that as he typed above.

-- QBRanger

Sure I like getting a higher CB, but I don't know how this will affect things in the long run. Also, why lower cash rewards by 5% and then give most people a higher CB in which they're getting more cash anyways? Unless Jon knew he was going to increase the CB before he touched cash rewards.

-- [RX3]Cotillion

> a hidden bonus that came from him being able to fight higher opponents than i could

that was "hidden?"

i thought i'd always been clear that the base reward is higher for higher-score opponents.

but apparently not. :)

-- AdminJonathan

i think in cb1 it was understood and accepted. however, when we changed over to cb2 and we were able to see things like challenge bonus and even clan bonus more readily i think we all got the impression that all bonuses were shown.

i also think there was an assumption that in the same ba regen rate, all things were equal. ranger and i have been stating what we found for a while now and i am still not sure everyone believed it was true! i refer to it only as a hidden bonus though as it is not one that is shown to us in any manner on our battle results screen.

-- Admindudemus

> we all got the impression that all bonuses were shown

well, they are; i just don't consider fighting higher a "bonus." :)

-- AdminJonathan

(to me, a bonus is something that is specific to you: the base reward for beating 1M score is higher than for beating 1k score, but it's still the same for everyone. not so challenge bonus, clan bonus, etc.)

-- AdminJonathan

So base rewards are in fact NOT based on PR?
I really though Synge had it figured out in that thread...

-- AdminQBnovice

You Know What?

I miss having "Mushu" as an option on every poll.

-- BadFish

> So base rewards are in fact NOT based on PR?

the base reward is based on PR, not score. sorry for the slip.
