The current client works well enough for me 35.6

On the fence...
To be honest, I prefer the java chat. But that's only because I am terrible at all things computer.
I only like java because it's simple. I come in, I chat. Nothing to it.
Now if you can provide an equally simple, or at least something that isn't super hard to learn, I'm all for it, Jon. ^_^

Get Rid of It/Features.
Possible Features:
- Changing the size of chat windows.
- An easily accessible full-window chat. This would simply be good for people who spend more time in chat and WILL be necessary when/if CB gets a larger player base (the current chat system would be completely and totally useless with 75+ players in chat, even assuming only 15 of them speaking)
- Password protected rooms of some sort. Would be nice for clans/trivia/games/business deals with 3 or more people to give people here privacy.
- A more effective system for op's would be nice. /kick, /kill, /mute, and a function to remove players from chat for 5 minutes. Kicks in alot of cases seem only to anger players, and kills (because it removes a players ability to chat) can be overly harsh, especially for newer players. A 5 minute kick would give ops a middle ground between a warning and a full on ban.
- On the same level of changes to ops, add an admin function to chat for admins. Allowing players to be banned from chat for day/week/month/ever may be easier to internalize into chat than making it a part of the naming structure (especially once CB gets larger)
This would also allow more people in chat to handle problems there without giving that player full run of the site (basically, give a player the ability to ban someone from chat for a day, but not the power to reset a player's characters, something not currently possible)
Those are changes that are obviously not a big deal, but will be as the game grows.

I hate the current chat...
It won't even work for me I've tried everything in the FAQ but still not chat for me. So I'm hoping if you do replace the current one that I am able to use the new one, thanks Jon.

I like chat as it is, but if it can be made so chat works on an iphone, I'm all for it.
The only concern I would have is keeping the nice flow that CB has between game and chat - the current client fits very well on the page, in my opinion.

well..
i cant say much due to my finicky net speeds...if you are able to obtain a more simple client would be good. although i don't know much about getting into how to configure these clients a client(if ever possible) that's friendly to my net(i know not much are and tends to be my service) would be good.

Progress isn't usually bad :)
Chat client at this moment works fine for me. However if there are more modern (read: and better) solutions, by all means.
-- AdminShade
Either way
Off is best for me, don't matter what type chat as long as we have the option to disable it.

Chat currently off
Since the change to chat mine has been switched off. It will remain until it's changed again. It's currently bulky and unattractive. Please change!!!
-- Wasp
Simple
We all know I'm comp inept, but if we get something more up to date than our current client and still as user friendly then I'm all for it. Forward progress is never bad.

java very bad
i hate java is very heavy takes a lil time to load and allways need to reload page to renew.
bring us to 21 century dude!
-- Guardian
One of the reasons..
...I don't go into chat is that it hasn't worked very well on the machines I log on with. Not a problem at home now, thanks to an upgrade in machines, but elsewhere still a problem. Upgrade chat and you might see me getting annoying in there....

Fast and Simple
I would love to see a new client for chat, but it should be able to run smoothly on very poor and slow connections. (Such as mine :)
-- Newlin
I was talking about this the other day!
Would we be keeping the NFC server or moving to another platform entirely?
-- AdminQBnovice
Well, I don't _hate_ the current chat. But I feel like it's somewhat not up to date.
-- BluBBen
This.

forums first!
i would rather see forums updated with more user-friendly buttons to allow pics, html links, etc. as well as an edit post option.
-- Admindudemus
Only if we retain all current features
I don't want to down-grade to a new client. I would like something similar to IRC with color codes and all that. Maybe a flash chat client. I think one of my favorite features of CB is chat, so lets make it really the killer feature. :)

Verifex
What he said. Forums and chat are what keep so many players here. They need to be as awesome as is possible.
-- BootyGod
(and the ability to turn off color codes for those of us who will /kick based on reflex for color codes)
-- AdminQBnovice
> Would we be keeping the NFC server or moving to another platform entirely?
all the reasons to use NFC as the server still apply.
-- AdminJonathan
So then it's just a matter of creating an iPhone capable NFC client...
-- AdminQBnovice
I've Changed my Mind
I said it works well enough for me, but I would rather it didn't time out on me and make me miss stuff that's going on when I'm trying to have a conversation.
-- Colonel Custard
Can I revote?
In the past few days the client has timed out in like 5 minutes. Grrrrr... It's a annoying.
