Colonel, it was kinda complicated. But, to put it simple for you, it wasn't consumed at all. Or very, very slowly.

Glad to see I had an impact. J you caved quick! Gotta be a record ;)
Hmmmm... Yes, now that I think about it, 1 month is much too long for that 1.5k +21 ex shots to have lasted...

Get ready for the fresh new wave of RoBF hating. Stopping someone like YOU from farming you into the ground has just gotten more expensive.

Hmm, great on the surface of it, but now some poor archer who gets farmed for 4500CP/day is paying for the privilege
(4500/6 fights)*3(rounds)*.5(per arrow)=1125 per archer
Or more of course, if they fire more than once per round
or if they use a crossbow (.6 per shot) or ex-shot (even more)
Or someone like G-Beee = arrows + bolts.
Jon, would it be unreasonable to only use up upgraded ammo ?
Just buy more, it's unlimited.

February 11 2008 9:17 PM EST
the issue isn't so much about running out as it is about nearly doubling the cost of running a tank that doesn't own the top levels...
QBRanger
February 11 2008 9:17 PM EST
1125 CB2 a day?
If so, that is a small price to pay. Specifically to change what had been an obvious bug in the game.

I still think it was effective. It stopped teams 2x to 3x bigger than you (apparently that's fair)from farming you. All you whiners out there I will grin when I see you on my battle log and know you for what you truly are. No offense ladies but I didn't know I was playing with a bunch of girls. The guys I beat were attacking me and LOSING. Solution- quit [Admin Edit]: non pg !! Don't cry about it.
QBOddBird
February 11 2008 10:15 PM EST
Wow, sexism and non-PG all in one post! Effective, Windwalker.
I think this is a great change. :) Especially with the raised ammo cap. Ranger's right, btw. Even if it will be costing you 1k a day in arrows due to farming, that's still 3+ years before 1M is spent on defensive ammo...

February 11 2008 10:24 PM EST
It's upsetting windwalker that you are getting this upset because something was changed that was an obvious thing jon didn't like. From his own posts. I used upgraded ammo to stop a person way lower than me from farming me. You were using it to stop people higher than you from farming you while you were offline. That is just a part of the game. I understand you spent a ton of money to make that stop, but to get so upset because the upgraded ammo will be spent as normal and will basically make it un-economical to keep trying to use defensive ammo is actually pretty sad.
QBOddBird
February 11 2008 10:26 PM EST
Windwalker: Regardless of whether the panties fit or not, you don't have to throw a fit. No need to call others effeminate when you're the one whining, no?
Btw, if your panties comment was directed towards me:
1) I don't even use ranged rounds
2) I prefer thongs

Windwalker
February 11 2008 10:34 PM EST
I'm not upset or mad. I just think its funny that its okay for these guys to farm so FAR below them and someone does something about it and its BAD for the game?
Yep, defeating someone 2 or 3 times larger than you with what was effectively a minimal one time expense is plenty fair. :)
BootyGod
February 11 2008 10:39 PM EST
Dude, Windwalker... I thing I keep a special tiny violin around here somewhere for JUST such a thing... Why is it special? It's imbued with spoiled children's tears.
*starts playing*
On a serious note, come on. This is ONLY a good change. Of COURSE they can beat you, Windwalker. They're STRONGER than you. THAT makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when you can't farm someone a million MPR below you because each one of their shots is worth a million NW. Exaggeration, but still.
QBOddBird
February 11 2008 11:03 PM EST
Windwalker: I, too, find it funny when at 2x-3x someone's MPR I am capable of beating them. I laugh every time. :)
What do you mean, bad for the game? The only objection I've seen was due to expense - noted, but it's not that expensive, so that's not even really a valid objection. And they weren't even talking about defensive ammunition.
You implication that it is wrong to be able to farm someone with a much lower MPR makes me wonder...should people with much lower MPR be farming those with much higher? Should people only farm those of an equivalent MPR? What restriction are you suggesting?

February 11 2008 11:28 PM EST
WW, rewards are based on score. If you get over 2 million, we aren't bottom feeding. You're a big fish -- maybe you should realize that? *smile*
If you want true bottom-feeding, go try Warbook where you can invest all 50 levels in DEF, have max forts, ane have your entire revenue stream invested in a massive Pikeman force -- and then still wake up to 20% acreage loss _every_ morning. Talk about a problem!
Windwalker
February 11 2008 11:41 PM EST
QBsutekh137- You and I have talked about this at some length before and if I offended anyone I am sorry Brother.Your not the first one today to tell me that, so I will try and earn that status as you have. Didn't mean to come off as abrasive.
QBRanger
February 11 2008 11:50 PM EST
Typically anyone over 2M score has been farmable by any of the top characters.
Be happy your in the top areas of the game at only 1.1M MPR. Good job getting a character up that high.
Be happy with what you have done, do not be upset with what others can or cannot do.
The ammo, especially upgraded, NOT being used on defense (most times) was a true bug in the game.
Nothing is stopping you from using said ammo for defense, however to balance things (expense vs instaPR), all ammo is now being used.
Did you really think it was fair for you to have massive exshots, and
This changes nothing but adds a balancing expense to consider when using uber ammo.
QBRanger
February 11 2008 11:59 PM EST
And yes YOU,
I would think this change is completely and undeniably "awesome" for yourself.
Considering defensive ammo was the tanks only cost effective way of defending against a known exploitative strategy.
Unfortunately, of all the ways to fix the upgradeable ammo problem, this was the least restrictive to tanks.
Windwalker
February 12 2008 12:07 AM EST
Ranger- I will adapt to the change. Keep you eye out cuz I'm coming. LOL
"against a known exploitative strategy"
Hold on Ranger, if you're talking about the RoBF, that's a bit strong.
The same could be done with an Evasion minion (with Elven Gear and a AoF), regardless of the presence of a RoBF.
Unless everyone who trains a large Evasion is using a known exploitative strategy...

GL,
I am typing about using the RBF with a full evasion minion.
Please do not tell me that it is a not a very exploitative strategy.
Evasion is way to powerful to be able to devote 100% or near to that xp in that skill and then use the RBF for offense.
QBRanger
February 12 2008 8:17 AM EST
And now it has gotten to a point where I cannot hit:
Score / PR / MPR: 1,990,807 / 1,093,610 / 812,070
until the 4th round of missile. Even with my +220 MsB, 1.0 archery, 6.15M Ethereal Chains, +5 arrows and +11 Amulet of Leadership.
The mageseeker, arrows and AoL are named of course.
This is total garbage.
PS: can an admin add AoL to the dictionary?
I'd like to make another recommendation or two:
Let missile weapons work without ammo by assuming a minion has unlimited quantities of base ammo. Then have the store sell upgraded and specialty ammo. It's annoying to have to watch your ammo levels anyway and the cost for base ammo is so negligible it really has no purpose other than to be an annoyance factor.
Even better would be to do away with ammo and introduce a quiver (shot pouch?) item. The idea would be that a minion always enters a new battle with a full quiver. To replenish the quiver after every battle would cost an amount of money based on the enchantment level of the quiver and would work along the same lines as healing after a battle except that it is not free if on defense.
I mean, really! Some of these guys are hauling 1,000,000 arrows or shots into a battle! I want to see the size of THAT quiver.

TheOne defeated Yanki (Battle Royale II) after 10 rounds of combat
Very nice :P
I love that you complain about the effectiveness of your to hit chances after bringing an enchantment to a dex war...
Lumpy Koala
February 12 2008 10:24 AM EST
Nice change :)
On a side note, I still think evasion shouldn't grant defensive dex or should not grant THAT much of defensive dex. I brought this up before, not sure if anyone ever reads it... oh well no one ever listens to me when I say some thing's going to be ZOMG IT'S OVERPOWERED!!

I don't know if I really want to consume defensive ammo normally today...
Arrows get stuck in my teeth, and ex shots give me heartburn...
hmmm..... this is problematic because i'm forging right now and will start fighting in a while and i don't know..... i have this CRAZY idea my char will get retired if his score becomes 0
