Question about Tattoos and Cloaks (in General)

QBRanger June 13 2005 4:23 PM EDT

Hi all,

Just throwing an question out there.

How come a tattoo still uses the cloak spot also on a minion? I can see why when CBF's were about since a TOA tank with a CBF would be unstoppable. But now that corns only add to enchantments, why cannot a single mage use both a tattoo and a COI, as it is the only item that now boost direct damage spell levels.

The other cloaks out there-The EC and SC, will not change the games dynamic.

Just a thought to see if others agree.

so are you saying only CoI should be allowed along with tattoos? Or all cloaks to be used with tattoos?

I'd love to have a ToE, Corn and CoI on my mage :)

I don't think Jon was just thinking game dynamics. Tattoo's don't do much when they're covered up by a cloak.

Granted, we don't really know what tattoos "do" anyway, but I always assumed seeing them, or at least allowing a familiar to jump from the tat, was important.

There's no minion to "jump" out of the tattoo on a ToA or ToE tho...=/

I honesly dont see why we cant put a cloak and armor on those two tattoos...lol...=P

I think because those tattoos are all ready strong enough. Making a ToA SC and Adam ready and making a ToE use a COI will only limit the options to characters. I didn't really think ToE mages needed a boost. Are they having that much trouble?

Completely agree, Ranger. I always thought it was there to stop tat/CBF coexistence too, but now it seems a bit unnecessary...

Actually, I take that back. EC would "change the games dynamic". ToA plus EC would help make up for the reduced dexterity trained on the ToA now. You trying to slide that one in under the radar, Mr. Biggest ToA? *smile*

Im saying any cloak should be useable with a tattoo.

Its just that before last month, a SMTOE could use a corn or EG's to boost his DD spell levels.

However, since the EG's now add to dex, and the corn only adds to enchantment spells, mages now have no items they can use to boost their DD levels if they use a tattoo. That, IMO, gives them a disadvantage over tanks which can use str/dex boosting items.

And as a tank based character, I would like to see an even playing field for all comers.

Have to agree with Ranger on this one. Would be nice to be able to wear a cloak on meh tank ; ). But it would help mages out a bit more since egs got nerfed a bit. Tanks have armour to boosts their stats, strength, dex. Tanks can also upgrade their weapons. Mages, even though i hate them, have to have something :P

Why?

If you would reason that the tattoo would be placed on the back part of the upper body, the place where body armor would be, and that it would be needed for the tattoo to be visible for it to have effect, then you'd agree that it would also take up the Cloak part of armor.

BUT: indeed having the tattoo be used as a body armor instead of, as it is now, body + cloak, would be a nice change.

Though some side effects:

Tattoo + SC => more AC => more damage blocking
Tattoo + EC => little more AC but also more DX => more damage blocking + (chance at) less hits taken + (chance at) more hits dealt
Tattoo + CoI => more DD Magic & AC => more damage blocking + more damage dealt (for mages)

no tattoo + any Cloak type armor => nothing.

Ill add something to shade math

EC+ToA extra AC dex and ARCHERY/BLOODLUST

AdminShade June 14 2005 4:19 AM EDT

D'oh, indeed the EC then also adds to the skills you use.

I thought the armor changes (the EG, COI and Corn changes anyway) were part of the SMToE nerf... so that they could not boost their DD spells in any way. I would like to be able to put a COI on my mage, but I don't expect this change to happen.
