That's me off the booze for the next 6 weeks. It's killing the weight loss every weekend :(
Also, I'm not doing the Hacker's Diet fitness plan as it's not compatible with my bad back and leg, however I have increased my calorie burning by doing other low impact exercise.

Hey, while I am not over weight*, I now travel 30 kilometers by bike per day.
On average I cycle with 20 km / hour to my intern job, and around 22 km / hour back home.
Don't know if I can keep up weighing myself but I should be doing that once a week perhaps, trying to think about it tomorrow or at least this week.

Measure whatever means something to you Shade. Feel free to post your daily bike workout if you want. We'd love to have you join us :-)
Weighing ourselves daily (not that you have to do so) helps give a better picture of our real weights since it's easier to take into account differences due to having food working it's way through our systems or problems with the scale (humidity or temp can effect some scales).

In the UK we measure using St. and lbs. (14lbs in a St.) so normally I'm 19st something... This weekend saw me dip to 18st 12lbs which is the first time I've been on the 18st anything mark for what seems like ages now. Next target is 17st something.... :)

That's great G Beee, all it takes is some motivation and persistence, to change your diet (not drastically) and exercise (regularly, rather than never). And why wouldn't you? I mean to get yourself feeling better on the inside and outside, it's worth it. Good work guys! :)
I don't know what this Hacker's Diet is, but I had always been a bit chubby ever since I was a kid. But finally decided to get myself in order, more healthier diet and being much more physically active. And I'm better off for it. :)

Anyone know of any good low calorie high alcohol content beer ? I even stooped to asking for diet lemonade in my brandy this weekend - the indignation !!

I feel your weekend pain GBeee, this is the first weekend in a long time that I've weighed less on Monday than I did on Friday. Sukotto, you're such a stud. Keep up the good work!
I'm feeling good, and my wife's told me (a few times now) that she's pleased.
I think the exercise has helped me lose the weight (I was 210 when I started in mid-December) as I've boosted my metabolism. But I think it's mostly come off to simply cutting out some of the junk I used to eat. I used to have a morning bagle with inch-thick cream cheese, burger-n-fries for lunch, a 3pm doughnut, a 4pm coffee with cookies, multiple-per-day vending machine snacks, and regularly ate an entire (big) bag of Doritos in an evening. I also drank way too much pop.
I stopped eating all of that (getting laid off helped as I didn't have co-workers inviting me for coffee and doughnuts 3 times a day. I also started drinking flavored seltzer instead of pop). But I still enjoy my morning bowl of sugar cereal, my cups of coffee, and sometimes ice cream after dinner.
My original idea was to ignore diet and just focus on the exercise. I've tried to lose weight before and found it so hard. I also had a pretty negative way of thinking about dieting. I would treat it like I was punishing myself... no wonder I kept missing days until I was completely off.
But I thought I could at least do 15 minutes of exercise per day. I treat it like a fun thing. My daughter and wife demand so much attention that my little 15 minutes is sometimes the only time I feel is my own in a day. Thinking about it as a special little thing I get to do... something that's only about *me*... makes it so much easier. It's also pretty easy to keep track of what I'm doing so I can spare brain power to think about an interesting programming problem
That sense of "me time", coupled with my public commitment to stick with it "no excuses" and Tezmac's idea of daily posting has really helped me keep at it. For the first time in my life I'm sticking to a resolution to improve my health... even if it's just 15 lousy minutes per day :-)
Anyway, sorry to ramble on. This has turned into such a wonderful experience for me I kind of started gushing there. I just feel really happy that I'm doing something right for once and glad that Tezmac and G Beee have stuck with me. It's also great to see other people giving it an effort. I just wish more people would try.
Thanks for the words of encouragement SNK3R.

I guess I still have a problem with the exercise thing and the vast majority of my weight loss (14lbs since Jan 7th) has come as a result of "thinking" about what I'm eating. Lifestyle change is what you are always told and you know what - I think I've finally caught on.
Now if I could just find that low calorie beer...
Well done Sukotto for your improvements - and well done Sukotto for mine too :D

Sukotto: I know that. But since this thread has an obsession with weight, I was thrown off by a distance being used. But then, if Shade really meant 150 kilometers and not kilograms, what the hell was he talking about? :P
Shade is measuring his bike workouts and, sometimes, his weight.

I have this bit I tell whenever I hear girls use weight as an indication of health and diets as a means of achieving it. I try to tell them that weight itself doesn't matter. I try to tell them that food alone isn't the answer to feeling good. I sometimes go so far as to tell them to throw away the scale. Now this isn't a way for me to criticize you guys at all. I say this so that you'll understand why I don't have a scale myself.
Since you guys are using other factors aside from weight to measure your progress, and since exercise is a part of your plan to get healthy (not just dieting), I'd say you guys are on the right track. Good work to you all and I wish you all the best of luck. (Even to G Beee and his search for a better lighter beer.)
I'd also like to join up with you guys and start posting my daily exercise and stretching routines. Like I said, I don't have a scale and so I won't include my weight, but I'll certainly try to give as many details as I can. Err... tomorrow that is. This day is spent.

*Congrats to Sukotto for reaching rung 12.
Thanks Tezmac.
You're a success simply because you've been putting in the time and making the effort. Sticking with it every day is a major accomplishment and something you should be proud about.
I'm sorry to hear about your plateau and I hope you can get past it soon. You know that G Bee and I are cheering for you right? (which I know sounds kind of stupid, but it's true.) Stick with it! If you still feel that you're just not making any progress maybe you can try some kind of variation or tweek to mix it up a little.
And *please* don't compare your progress to anyone elses. Everyone has their own pace and their own challenges. It's not a contest about who gets to what point the quickest.

Everyone is welcome. To join, all you need to do is start posting. I suggest you start with something simple since it's easier to do a simple thing daily.
I am only doing exercise and my weight is there simply for my own interest. Other people are actively dieting and may or may not be doing exercise. What you do and how you do it is your own business. This thread is just here as an incentive to keep going.
Proof is in the pudding though. It's no use saying you're *going* to do it. Do it first, then tell us :-)
