Hacker's Diet challenge - March (in Off-topic)

Sukotto [lookingglas] March 10 2006 2:47 AM EST

Welcome to the March Hacker's Diet Challenge ! Everyone welcome to join.  You can join at any time.

This thread helps keep each of us "on the wagon" of our diet and/or exercise program. Many of us find it so easy to skip days or give up when we're by ourselves.  This thread gives a larger support structure (or maybe just a feeling of guilt... I don't know) by making our effort semi-public.

Joining is easy.  Make a commitment to post daily for a month.  Post what you need to in order to prove to yourself that you've met your commitment for the day (many of us post our weight and what sort of exercise we've done).  However, please keep in mind that this thread is just a record of staying honest.  If you want to track a lot of detail you should use a private logbook. If you don't exercise then just post that you followed your diet for the day (including what level you are in your program if appropriate) and your weight if you want.

You are not obligated to post your weight if you feel uncomfortable doing so.

The important thing here is to make a commitment, then follow through (posting to verify that you're keeping up).  This is not a contest and negative comments about any participants or comparisons of participant progress are strictly not allowed. (This includes "backhanded compliments" and weight jokes). This is an effort to positively reinforce some good habits. Words of encouragement are always welcome though, of course.

Please don't post about how you'd like to join us.  Just join us. We care about the doing, not the talking. :-)

Since you only compare your progress to yourself, you can join anytime and at any level.  I hope you'll jump on board with us!

(Get a free copy of John Walker's eBook "The Hacker's Diet" here. It includes the Excel-based tracking/graphing tools).

I've been way to busy at work to post until today (yay for Friday!!!). While being really busy, I have managed to cut down to one coffee/day and drink at least 1.5L of water and I feel so much better for it.

My 259lbs on Saturday morning meant a change to the scale on my graph, however a lovely Chinese meal that evening meant I really needn't have bothered.

Smartmuck March 20 2006 10:15 PM EST

Wow this is great...well my plan (starting tonight :)

Age: 13
Weight 150 :( :(
Height 5'5 or so :)

Well haha don't need to lose weight terribly bad at my age, but I don't like the flab, it's gotten bad enough that I won't swim anymore...oh well...anyway, I got this RCAF exercise plan, it actually works well, I'll try to get back into that...yes diet will help, any brainstorms? And I'm also going to try to do as many sit-ups and push-ups as I can each night...tonight my goals are 25 sit-ups and 5 real push-ups...starting easy so I can work up.

Damn football, haha, I play O-Line, and my coach wants me to get bigger, but in the last year, I've lost 20 pounds from it, haha, he's getting mad at me :p
I wish I could do this, but 1. football practise hurts too much, and 2. I want to lose weight, but I want to play football... :(

Sorry for the long absence. Friend had a heart problem (he's ok), Grandfather got run over by a 18 wheeler (he's ok), immigration woes (resolved)... it's been interesting lately.

I'm glad to see you guys have been sticking with it while I was gone. I missed quite a few days of exercise I'm sorry to say. But I'm back on the wagon again :-)
