How am I casting EC? (in General)

"Aegis cast Ethereal Chains on all enemy Minions (20)"

I'm usng a base EC: 0/50 (20) with a MgS, which casts at 20. All's good there, but I'm using base DM 800 (640). For a while my DM was fizzling my own EC (which I expected).

I'm also using a RoS and have been watching my max tattoo level for when my RoS protection would let my base EC cast.

My Max Tattoo is 2,576.

With recent changes, the RoS was reduced to providing aobut 1/5 it's level as DM protection. This gives me about 515.

Even if this reduces the effect (640) and not the level (800) shouldn't my DM have enough oopmh to still fizzle my 0/50 EC?

I didn't think your own DM fizzled your own ED.. I thought it only fizzled your own AMF if you had that trained. EC is a spell that still casts at zero level, like protection.

It was my own DM. The RoS was changed to 1/4 not 1/5 so I owuld only need a Max Tattoo of 2,560 to be able to use my own EC again! ;)

At least I know what to train my DM to now! :P

Your own DM will nuke your own EC as it will your own AMF.

The ROS protects 1/4 its level vs DM.

Yeah, EC and Prot are the only two spells that work with MgS

What use is base EC though?

Mages and Enchanters get reduced to Zero Dex. ;)

Great if you're a tank and have been reduced to Zero dex as well! :D

Base EC helps my chanter get double hits in ranged even when his haste based dex is nuked by dm?

Decay :)

I wasn't so sure about decay so I just left it out :P

The other reason for a base EC is to drive those pecky PL minions dex or str below 0 so your leech starts on the first blow.
