New fighting feature (in Changelog)
December 12 2006 10:54 PM EST
Everyone go look!
December 12 2006 10:55 PM EST
I like the bonuses display, Jon! Beautiful! Brings a tear to my eye!
December 12 2006 10:56 PM EST
December 12 2006 10:57 PM EST
Jeez....OBBQ <3 Challenge Bonus. My fightlist will be dramatically changed for the better.
my score is 51407 and when i fight some one with a score of 158460 i get a negative bonous. Why?
December 12 2006 11:02 PM EST
bok - would it be because you lost the fight? thus you didnt get any bonus?
but the other fights i lost it still said i had a positive bonus
December 12 2006 11:03 PM EST
Would it be because of the reason in the "Why is this negative?" link right next to it ?
December 12 2006 11:11 PM EST
Maybe this will stop clanners who are way too high to be fighting me, to actually stop fighting me!
Or maybe it'll just make them cry a little inside, shrug, and keep on attacking you? ;(
December 12 2006 11:17 PM EST
Also possible. Either way, this change rocks.
Sweet change, I've really maximized my rewards now.
When I fight it say I get a new character bonus not NUB does that affect my money rewards or anything?
December 12 2006 11:32 PM EST
Interesting. I assume it only shows the bonuses that were already in place, right?
December 12 2006 11:36 PM EST
"When I fight it say I get a new character bonus not NUB"
text was backwards. fixed
"I assume it only shows the bonuses that were already in place, right?"
When I fight someone close to double my PR and the bonus is 75%...is that a 75% bonus on top of what old rewards were or 75% of what I was getting before? I can't really seem to tell, but at any rate I like the change alot :D
hehe never mind upon further investigation I got my answer :D
December 12 2006 11:40 PM EST
I think it IS the bonus you were getting before (it is just shown now).
It is kinda hard to tell for sure with bonus time, but my fight rewards seem relatively unchanged, so I think it is just showing your bonuses now.
December 12 2006 11:46 PM EST
I know there probably isn't room for it, but I think it would be nice to have it split so there are columns, one for exp and one for money.
For example, the NCB doesn't add to your money, so it wouldn't be listed in the money column, just the exp columb, then when we are on wacky time, there is a negative in the relevant column as well as the positive shown.
*Gets excited at the thought of a Amulet of Challenge(adds to bonuses in some way or form) supporter item*
Clip on for the new feature. ;)
December 12 2006 11:49 PM EST
"hehe never mind upon further investigation I got my answer :D
Just so you know, to get 0% is to fight someone who has the same Score as your PR.
so when its over, you get better fight rewards and when its under that you get less than average.
It's supposedly the average award, but there is too much randomness going on, so that would if your PR was the same as their score, when fighting. :)
December 12 2006 11:51 PM EST
Daz, I really don't think that is necessary, if you have a NUB, you know you get a bonus to both exp and money, and if you have NCB you know it is only for exp.
December 12 2006 11:52 PM EST
The NUB part of the bonus just disappeared.
Jon, can you add an option for supporters to turn the viewable bonuses off or on? Could just as well get use to the change and not trouble your fingers any further, but felt that would be nice addition as well.
December 13 2006 12:13 AM EST
"can you add an option for supporters to turn the viewable bonuses off or on?"
(all but the Challenge bonus were already displayed; they're just grouped together now)
December 13 2006 1:06 AM EST
Showing the challenge bonus is really awesome. Thanks Jon!
Now that I have it, I want it on the edit fightlist page as well... Given an inch...
December 13 2006 1:44 AM EST
Jon, my GF, EbonySapphire, created her account yesterday. She is supposed to have her NUB until April but yet in her Fight Rewards box, the NUB Bonus is not displayed. Was this just removed from her Bonus Box or removed from her character Bonuses?
December 13 2006 2:15 AM EST
Sorry to be negative but...
There used to be some kind of effort needed to maximise rewards - why not have a popup every time you logon announcing that "The lower 56.8% of your fightlist give you rewards of less than 63.1%, and should be deleted from your list"?
Or even just do it for you?
December 13 2006 2:15 AM EST
wow! nice :)
One question. I've got people on my fightlist that go into negative challenge bonus. This I get. ;) But, there are people on my list of lower score than the first to give a negative bonus, who give a positive bonus.
How and why do they do that?
December 13 2006 3:15 AM EST
Perhaps it is due to the other factors that are involved. Jon has said that score vs pr is most important, but I am sure there are other things that play a part.
this new too?
In training page, at the VERY bottom:
"Total XP:26,550,064 Weapon Allowance:45,002,358"
That must be the script thingy.
The new change is good! I've now optimised my fight list and am getting better rewards for it. Excellent change : )
December 13 2006 3:49 AM EST
small, that's been there for ages, with Fexy's script.
this change is good for the people who are in the dead zones, i have to attack people with lower score then me else i have noone in my list
guess i have to change score to pr :/
December 13 2006 4:14 AM EST
Challenge bonus 100%"
Nice to be able to see it! Has anyone seen theirs go above 100% yet? Be nice to know before I start looking for people to beat, incase it doesn't go above that!
December 13 2006 4:18 AM EST
Mmm, been hitting a few people higher, beaten a couple - only seen 100%, so I guess that's all it hits.
December 13 2006 4:38 AM EST
100% is the max indeed.
At around 500k PR, fighting a score of ~1 mil gets me 100% bonus, and fighting 700k score gets me 50% to 40% bonus
December 13 2006 4:39 AM EST
Inspect the char that gives you the lower bonus. Adjust their page, their score might have dropped - that happened on one of mine.
December 13 2006 5:54 AM EST
Could you please move the Bonuses box to the middle of screen just under the "Play-by-play:" and above the "Post-battle stats".
I operate at a resolution setting of 1024x768 on a CRT monitor and with the bonuses box added to the side of the post-battle stats I get my text separated into two different lines on many occasions, both in the bonuses and post-battle boxes.
Just a little cosmetic tweak please :)
December 13 2006 6:27 AM EST
negative bonus or not, AoD, you're still on my list!
I know I might just be talking out the wrong end as per normal, but i feel a disturbance is the force...err my xp rewards, the doohikey is great and all, but did xp also take a chop somehow?
December 13 2006 6:38 AM EST
Lol, maybe I'm getting yours because mine have risen in the past couple of days. Last week I added 50k to my MPR in a week. I've done it in 2/3 the time this week.
I was seeing an average of around 40-45, now it's more like 30-35...just today
its not a fair change for people with no nub or ncb, i started a char with neither of those 2 and im in a dead zone with no one near my pr and now i get punished for it :(
i didnt expect you too hatchet
December 13 2006 6:56 AM EST
I'm in that 1.4-1.7million deadzone... I've used the change to tweak my opponents. It's helpful. Now I must think of a niche to adopt in order to get out of the dead zone : /
December 13 2006 7:15 AM EST
Dunno if anybody has already mentioned this, but it doesn't display the NUB bonus even though I'm still getting it.
December 13 2006 7:41 AM EST
Indeed what G_Beee said, please move it to the region where the bonus used to be, it is misplaced on the right imo.
December 13 2006 7:43 AM EST
whats the best reward percent and whats a good one?
December 13 2006 7:44 AM EST
And, while you're at it, change the "new character bonus" (and new user bonus) to NCB (xp only) to make it shorter :)
could look better i think.
December 13 2006 8:25 AM EST
Is no one recongnizing the fact that fight rewards haven't been changed?!!?!? Their is just display now showing the "bonuses" you have always received for your existing fightlist. You have always gained greater rewards for fighting characters with a score higher than your PR.
velvet, rewards are lower then before, i get 30$ less then normal donno about exp because i never look at that
Yes velvet. Fight rewards haven't changed. BUT it has changed who some people fight, thus enabling one to get the best rewards from their BA. So therefore, it has somehow indirectly affected the fight rewards... indirectly...
December 13 2006 9:56 AM EST
excellent change jon,
/me cant wait for x-mas
more changes to come?
December 13 2006 10:04 AM EST
"rewards are lower then before"
not so, nothing changed except displaying what was already there
well jon i still see lower rewards then yesterday but thats just me
Hehehehehe. You don't get clan bonuses on loses. ;)
December 13 2006 10:58 AM EST
Fighting the lower half of my list yields high rewards when I unequip my "Mucho-PR-increasing" tattoo. Will we all be fighting naked now?
/me sees the Tattoos being used for defense only...kinda' like seekers :o)
December 13 2006 11:02 AM EST
fixed displaying NUB
December 13 2006 11:23 AM EST
AoD there is an EXTREME ammount of randomness to fight rewards. Even fighting the exact same character with the exact same score 10 times in a row (although a theoritical impossiblility) you could see as much as a 220% fluctuation to rewards gained. Take into account that everyone's score changes minute to minute and it would take averaging your fight rewards over days or most likely weeks to prove a statement such as my fight rewards are more or less (unless you are talking a 20 or 30% change, with the same EXACT fightlist of characters, who have made no equipment and relativlily little score change)
December 13 2006 12:13 PM EST
Case in point:
-3% Challenge Bonus
You are awarded $253 and your Minions receive 48 exp each.
You have $313,324. Battle allocation: 45.
-2% Challenge Bonus
You are awarded $327 and your Minions receive 31 exp each.
You have $315,513. Battle allocation: 36.
+15% Challenge Bonus
You are awarded $175 and your Minions receive 46 exp each.
You have $317,524. Battle allocation: 28.
Obviously these results were selectivly chosen, but they do demonstrate the "random" factor to fight rewards. Fighting a character with better bonus % would yield better rewards over the course of a week FOR SURE, but I just wanted to demonstrate the random factor of fight rewards.
if I was a diligent man, I'd have daily averages for my crappy fightlist, but I don't so what I do have is that I haven't seen a single 50 or 60 yet this morning, and that was the norm for about half my fights previously. I don't think clan bonus was previously added in and now it gone, because that seems like it still wouldn't be enough.
I understand nothing changed with that code, just saying that my xp rewards have.
I never hit 50 in 60 BA, most of my fights are now worth 25-30 xp a minion, that's a reduction of a third if not half. I know I'm not making this up.
December 13 2006 4:05 PM EST
Rewards are now shown differently
December 13 2006 4:06 PM EST
i get around 50-70
December 13 2006 4:08 PM EST
nice changes this month jon :-)
wow even more shiney now...
December 13 2006 4:28 PM EST
not bad jon :D
December 13 2006 4:46 PM EST
Can you lower the PR give buy Tats a bit perhaps?
Now that looks pretty spiffy :D
seconded, it's a little harsh to use a specialized tattoo in this PR filled world...
December 13 2006 5:35 PM EST
Eww, I don't like the 2 small tables, I'd rather have 1 table containing it all... (yes I'm being picky)
December 13 2006 5:49 PM EST
I agree Shade.
December 13 2006 5:52 PM EST
hmm... just a thought, but would it be possible to have a third table showing how the battle affected your clan points? i know you can just go to clans -> my stats to see, but i have dial-up... and it really is time consuming =)
December 13 2006 6:39 PM EST
Or you can just use the information here
to see how it affected your CPs. You don't even have to look. =)
(I have dialup too. I can sympathize with ya there.)
December 13 2006 9:02 PM EST
Question: Dunno if this has already been asked, but I read that fighting clan members while you are in a clan yourself generates a small bonus... is that part of the 'challenge bonus'? I'm not smart enough to figure out for myself..
December 13 2006 11:32 PM EST
Uhh, but seriously...Can you lower the PR given by Tattoos a bit perhaps?
December 13 2006 11:37 PM EST
noneedforthese is referring to this quote from cbstuff.nl:
"All fights vs other clan Character earn slightly larger rewards, both of money and experience."
I have long wondered if this is in fact true. I suppose it would be easy to test now. Just fight a 1 score character who is in a clan and compare the bonus to a 1 score character who isn't in a clan (best done with a 1 pr character).
December 13 2006 11:39 PM EST
"I have long wondered if this is in fact true. I suppose it would be easy to test now. Just fight a 1 score character who is in a clan and compare the bonus to a 1 score character who isn't in a clan (best done with a 1 pr character)."
Actually you would need to use two different 1 pr characters to do this.
December 13 2006 11:41 PM EST
wouldnt the XP gained by attacking the 1 score player in the clan raise the vpr of the minion enough to offset the next set of rewards against the non-clan character? Unless you used two 1 pr chars. But then that could be offset by the "flex" in rewards...
December 13 2006 11:49 PM EST
oops, allow me to retract that... Mian posted while i was typing
December 14 2006 6:52 AM EST
*Still waiting for an armor allowance*
December 14 2006 10:25 AM EST
hold your breath Tezmac.... It will be much easier to beat you if you are unconcious and blue :)
December 20 2006 7:47 PM EST
So I guess there are no changes this month to negative clan points in 'hot zones', (Since I would really like a few characters at about 600 - to 1 mill MPR who can survive in a clan) no change or nerf to Evasion, or Axbow being able to hit when a larger ELB misses, or -- hmm what was that other thing -- mistletoe by the fireplace? Oh and a girl to kiss at that location.. Well, guess we can't get everything we want for Christmas. :) Can we?
Still wishing for Santa (AKA Jon) to come to with his bag of goodies). If not, it has still been fun -- Thanks.
We still have 10 days to go Raptor, Jon is obviously going to be really busy around now, with having both work and a son's Christmas to think about but if any really big changes are going to be introduced then you'll see them before the end of the year.
December 20 2006 9:04 PM EST
Jon has a life? That is unimaginable.
December 20 2006 9:31 PM EST
I thought Jon just retired and does CB for a living. :) I'd make another 10 dollar Christmas donation to naming items if he does nerf evasion. NOT a bribe - I dare say - just to help pay for his programming time :) Anyone else want to contribute? Maybe mages will pay to keep it, it'll go up for auction - and Jon will be rich rich rich! :) Whew --- I think I may have had too much eggnog...
Jon works for Mozy, an online back-up storage device.
December 22 2006 6:29 PM EST
Another cool side effect of this change is that the copy and pasting of battle rewards is now twice the work :)
December 22 2006 11:04 PM EST
Mozy has been super busy since the Walt review, but I will still get some more changes in. Before the end of the year if I can, in early January otherwise.
A Katana [74x9] (+3) for sale by Talion ends in 2 days with 3 buy nows. Bug or not it's bugging someone.
December 26 2006 12:43 AM EST
buy now should be fixed again.
Will this change cause the display of the bonus for fighting a clan member while in a clan that's depicted on the clan join page?
