Mithril Cuirass... Needs help? (in General)

Was just having a look round, as you do, and noticed that the MC really doesn't have much going for it all. I quote from the wiki,

"The MC has basically lost lots of it's use with the introduction of the Trollskin Armor (TSA) as the TSA has decent AC and provides ST."

How about lowering some of the penalties it has? It is made of mithril right, so why not make the penalties slightly lighter then usual. If all the penalties were halved then this would probably become a more viable option to mages. I think it would add a slight bit more variation to what a mage could wear, currently it's either MCM or EH. Hmmm. Decisions. If the MC was slightly better then a player with a mage could think, you know, this could be worth the, say 4%, DD penalty for the extra 25 AC I can get without spending USD. Just a quick thought. Flame away!

MC, I believe still has its slot for a heavy AC Mage. You'd be insane to use an AC/

MC needs some love, and EH too.

With the 5 ranged rounds, EH now does nothing....

MC has it's niche for mages and enchanters. It's a small penalty in exchange for relatively large AC. Lowering it's penalties kills the MCM, and raising it's AC kills the AC. :P It is an under-loved, under-appreciated item, but to make it any better/worse than it currently is would knock something else out of it's current spot...

The EH is okay for a single mage with Evasion, as it will allow them to go for the quick kill. With other mages heavily hampered and tanks unable to hit, the mage can get by a few rounds with relatively low HP, allowing them to concentrate heavily on their DD spell.

Another great use for the EH is on a CoC mage. One of my favorite teams doing this currently is Nocturnal Spaghetti (partially cuz I'm biased, partially because it's an awesome team!). The elven Hauberk allows her CoC mage to stand stronger against FB mages who would otherwise fry her during ranged. It also helps keep spread DDs under her GA cap allowing enemies to blow themselves up before a CoC sweeps away the remaining pieces of the team...

Perhaps the EH could do for a little slower decay than .5 /round... But that would need to be countered lest it be considered overpowered. Say Cut it's decay from .5 to .25, but up it's penalties to that of the MC...

Change it to Elven Cuirass?

"and noticed that the MC really doesn't have much going for it all."

Neither do the vast majority of items out there. Look at the common Robe for example.

Of the "rare" items.

I believe BoTH is the least loved big-5 item, and it is just ... bad.
doesn't have the damage of morg, so your VA is less important. and the penalty is only marginally smaller.

ELS much? :P

"Of the "rare" items."

My point is that there are far, far too many "pointless" items in this game. The issue with the Mithril Cuirass isn't unique.

When Koy was a mage I tried the MC vs both the adam and the MCM.

For the 8% magic penalty, the MC was not worth the extra bit of AC.

If I wanted AC, I would suck it up and use the Adam.
