I am done (in Off-topic)

Talion June 18 2008 9:22 AM EDT

I am leaving. Why? Here are the reasons...

I loved the game initially because:

(1) You could be competitive without spending too much $
(2) Users that stuck with the game for a long time have an advantage.
(3) Supporter items and tattoos limited and diversified strategy choices because they were not easily attainable just by coughing up cash.

I am quitting because items 1 and 2 do not apply anymore. As for item 3, tattoos are still a trump card only attainable with hard work and dedication.

Since Jon just caved in to the supporter items availability winers, it is simply a question of time before tattoo leveling becomes their new wining focus: "Why can't my tattoo be the biggest tattoo in the game NOW!!!!! Whaaaaa! Whaaaaa! Whaaaa!".

USD for tattoo leveling is just around the corner.

Those who enjoy it... have fun. However, I absolutely hate instant gratification games: "Give me $$$ and I will give you all the power you want now. Oh yeah! SHOW ME THE MONEY!".

So it is with a heavy hearth and a bit of disgust that I write: "Goodbye for now".

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] June 18 2008 9:24 AM EDT

Can I have your stuff?

*hides*

Seriously though, later Talion.

QBRanger June 18 2008 9:25 AM EDT

I would hope you stick around for about 1 month to see how things actually play out.

There have been a lot of changes, some good, some bad.

However, there is still more time left in changemonth and you have a spectacular character.

Pretty please, stay for 1 month more to see how things go. BR really does need ya!!!!!

TheHatchetman June 18 2008 9:26 AM EDT

You'll be missed until ya get back, dude.

Talion June 18 2008 9:30 AM EDT

I will log in now and then. But unless this supporter item change gets sacked, this is not the kind of game I like to play.

QBJohnnywas June 18 2008 10:50 AM EDT

ah Tal, if you go your presence will be missed.

If you don't then see you around and about!

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] June 24 2008 8:01 PM EDT

I, let alone many others in the community, will miss you.... Stay and play, enjoy your time here.... and have fun ^_^ We will miss you!

I highly doubt that.

Oh really? We all said it was a dumb idea to re-introduce supporter items a second time around for a "New" supporter item, and look what happened 2-3 months later? Now everyone can buy EVERY item at once.

Unappreciated Misnomer June 24 2008 8:32 PM EDT

there was a poll in regards to tattoo leveling, i dont recall the outcome but i believe it was certain not to happen. in the end we are all subjects to what ever whim jon conjures up.

later Talion, im certain you have make plenty of contributions. dont worry your name will be on the list.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Talion, but numbers 1 and 3 aren't exactly true. You can't get to the top ranks unless you have the top items, and supporter items have ALWAYS been easily attainable by coughing up cash.

The only difference now is that people don't have to spend tens of millions of CB$ (or hundreds of USD) to attain those items. Don't lie to yourself, you know very well that the only way to get the top end gear pieces (AoF, TSA, MGS) was to drop insane amounts of cash.

00 June 24 2008 9:09 PM EDT

So save up CB$ for these "insane" items?

Greyfeld June 24 2008 9:13 PM EDT

----So save up CB$ for these "insane" items?----

You notice that the only people that are upset by the change are the ones that have horded this gear for ages? I have no sympathy.

lostling June 24 2008 10:04 PM EDT

:) i have hoarded it for ages and i dont really care so the point is moot =x at least for me

i will say again, O RLY? Take a look at my char's, not a single supporter item on them, nor are any unequipped. This supporter item change upset me as well, even more than the NUB did when it first came out.

three4thsforsaken June 24 2008 10:15 PM EDT

I've always respected your knack for strategy T-T

Cya man

three4thsforsaken June 24 2008 10:29 PM EDT

oh yes and for the record I completely agree with you

I'm one of the newer users around and I have invest much time and money getting my hands on supporter items. It was worth it though and create a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in investing in these items.

Now that any USD person can buy them does annoy me. Not as much as it is bad, but more in a way that I liked the previous system much much better. A sense of rarity in these items and scarcity really added to the game, and how it benefited older users was a bonus.

AdminNightStrike June 24 2008 10:29 PM EDT

Your item 1 is the complete opposite of reality. USD no longer reigns as king, and Jon keeps making changes to make sure that continues.

QBRanger June 24 2008 11:18 PM EDT

Well look at things this way.
Old supporter items are 11 bucks each.

At the standard Cb2 to USd rate of 3 to 1 (at least I see it that way now or very soon) it is about 3M CB2 to get one of those rares.

Appropriate price if they were available on the "open market" like every other rare.

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] June 24 2008 11:33 PM EDT

Sorry to see you go! I never really got to know you, but always feel free to come back once your negative feelings subside!

I can see your points, and your worries, but I think right now they are only that, worries. Yes, the potential is there for someone to take advantage of $ to get ahead, but even that would still require quite a commitment on the part of said person. You can have 10 of every rare in the game and still be passed by a person with a better strategy and more dedication. Money has always made the world go round, and the latest change only lowers the CB$ cost of certain supporter items.

When the playing field is even, and all rares are available to all (via US$ or CB$), then truly great players and strategies will shine. I think that's what we have now gone to.

Anyways, sorry to argue on your leaving post. Best of luck out there!

j'bob June 24 2008 11:50 PM EDT

I'm not going to say goodbye.
(cause if I don't say goodbye, you're not really gone!)
:D

Talion, I'll miss ya dude, it was great having ya around. Sorry I missed the thread until now =/

TheHatchetman June 25 2008 1:08 AM EDT

Guess I didn't miss it... I'm just oblivious... Time for sleep >.<

AdminShade June 25 2008 1:19 AM EDT

Talion, you take care in the cold world outside! :)

QBOddBird June 25 2008 1:22 AM EDT

We'll miss you, Talion.

I feel the same way as you do. But hey, I'm still going to stick with the game. I've got a debt to repay, and after that, I have a feeling I'll still be addicted, despite changes that I feel are unnecessary and gameplay-harming...

I hope to see you back one day.

[LittleRed]Calynne June 25 2008 6:40 AM EDT

See you around, talion... maybe you'll come to realize that the game should never have been about scrimping and saving every penny to buy one piece of armor or one weapon that you have to continually upgrade ANYWAYS for it to be of any use to you...

I think saving up to buy second and third minions takes enough of my time. I won't cry about someone being able to get a few pieces of armor for a reasonable price...

*shrug* Everyone has their own opinion... hope to see you around.

Flamey June 25 2008 6:54 AM EDT

Tal! Goodbye.

[P]Mitt June 25 2008 9:05 AM EDT

I agree with Talion on all 3 points. We'll miss you!
