What do I have to do to use Chat? Must I actually delete my character and start a new one to be able to use chat? Any help is appreciated. :)

How do you know about chat if you haven't finished the tutorial?

This guy is having the same trouble.
Not to mention I read a thread about how the tutorial is bugged somehow making you have to train and fire minions, or something similar. Just looking for help. :)

I don't think the tutorial 'finishes', hence why I created this thread.

This seems to be the problem; I've been at this step for a week or more. I hired a minion but it didn't pass the step. Hope this helps!
I think you can create a new character (not account) and hire the minion on that one and it will count, not positive tho.

You are correct! I created a new character and made one minion. This progressed the tutorial and it now thinks my original char has two minions.
I now see this as a tutorial:
"Great! You won! Now pick another opponent, and click Fight again. (Or just hit Enter on your keyboard.)
When you've earned some more exp, we'll train your second Minion in a spell. Estimate: about 10 more victories. (Money and exp awards are randomized.)"
Haha yeah the tutorial needs some revising :)

After training a second minion on my newest character I seem to be stuck in the exact same place as before.. Anyone know what to do? This is very frustrating ><
I would suggest ignoring the tutorial for the time being. You can ask in forums for strat help and other things until the tutorial is finally taken away or the problem is fixed.

You mean you can't get in chat anymore, Froy?
Or you mean the tutorial won't progress? If it won't progress, ignore it. The tutorial sucks.

One thing you might want to do is trying to get me or any other admin to be online when you do it and then do the following:
Retire both characters
Perform all steps from the tutorial
Ask the admin to unretire the char you want to continue with
I'd even do it without a fee and other I think will also.

:( it's still a waste of BA just to get rid of the tutorial prompt.
Atleast you figured away around purchasing another minion. Had to dish out 600k for another minion I didn't want.

It seems as though new players do not have chat until they finish the tutorial. I do not even know what chat looks like, but I realize that the tutorial is keeping me from having it. Thus, I am looking for ways to progress the tutorial. I'm thinking the tutorial does not progress. So, anyone know how I get into chat?
I'm not following the tutorial any longer as all it says is recruit a new minion. I haven't been using it since the first day, but it bugs me all the same..
I guess I will live with the tutorial, and wait to use chat until the problem is fixed?
I can see the problem with player retention, now. It's good that the community is filled with some nice people to negate the terrible tutorial and ensuing problems. :P

I'm sorry you're stuck, Froy, but the only ways I know of to beat the Tutorial are to either do what it says (hire and fire) or wait until you hit about 5k battles and hope that it just goes away.
I'm also not sure if the 5k battles option is a fact or rumor.

From this thread, I'm thinking a decent solution to the Tutorial would be:
1) Kill the Tutorial
2) Keep the Goals
3) Bring back the Mentors program
4) Make New Players a standard chatroom for anyone in the mentors program; unable to remove it
5) Make Mentors available only after the NUB finishes (6 months)
6) Make Chat available immediately upon creating a CB account
IMO, this puts them into the game with goals and a chatroom devoted to helping them; if you ask me, the players can teach how to play far better than any tutorial can. This will also eliminate the Tutorial bugs that consistently pop up and cause difficulty for newbies.

Shade:
I think that may work, but the problem I was having was being stuck at the recruit a minion spot. After spending all money to recruit the first minion, you are prompted to recruit a second. After saving for a second and recruiting it.. well I didn't want to waste 700k on a minion that may or may not progress the tutorial and that I will only be firing.
If you think that your method will allow the tutorial to progress naturally after recruiting only *one* minion, then I am very interested. :)
I see where the problem lies, you're playing WoW, =P
j/k, Welcome to CB!

Froy,
I hope this does not discourage you from continuing to play CB.
Once this gets fixed and you get chat a new world opens up.
If I can be of assistance, please let me know via CM.
I look forward to seeing you in chat.

Well honestly, at the minimum time a minion would cost, it wouldn't at all cost you anywhere near 600k...
I perhaps will start a newb account myself to test some things over the weekend, provided I get clearance from Jon / NS.

It is more difficult to find problem with the tutorial as an experienced user, Shade, you subconsciously know what to look for :P

Froy,
I've used something like 30 BA on my test character on your account.
I've also used perhaps 15k to put you back into the clan you were in.
But the good thing is you are out of the tutorial!
What I did was fight a bit and get a second minion.
Then it told me to fight a number of battles, which I did.
Then it told me to train a MM spell on the second minion which I did.
This progressed you through it, after training a bit more and buying a dagger I got you out of it.
:)
