Does the AOI do nothing against the SoD? (in General)

Fatil1ty April 22 2009 1:45 PM EDT

so I fought against freeds char and found this..

Cockas explosive shot hit Hello [175253], detonator [63088], shmeee familiar [68324], shmeeee [68590] Cockas explosive shot hit Hello [198879], shmeee familiar [78051], shmeee [78208] Cockas explosive shot hit Hello [181473], shmeee familiar [70932], shmeee [70344]

my first minion detonator has an AOI equipped however it still gets hit by the SoD.

Is it supposed to work like that. I thought it hit the first minion and then moved backwards. In my case it is hitting the second and moving up a minion to hit my first as well.
Any thoughts?

Hello still gets hit with the primary shot, and the splash damage hits detonator.

It's hitting your second minion because of the AoI.

so an aoi is virtually useless in protecting enchanters? wow...seems a little OP'd to me.

It would seem to make sense if you consider the explosive shot like a Fireball (area of effect spell)?

I don't have an AoI, but does it render a minion immune from Fireball or Coc? If not, then the SoD hitting an invisible minion would make sense to me since those spells are 'untargeted'.

haha! This is OP too?!

C'mon I think we're starting to raise the OP flag on almost anything.....

an AoI is useless for protecting your enchanters unless the minion not wearing an AoI is using PL ;)

Fatil1ty April 22 2009 2:03 PM EDT

I don't mean it's overpowered necessarily just that it kind of goes against the trend of the AoI protecting against physical blows. To me it makes sense that the SoD should hit the minion and then continue through to hit all minions BEHIND but not the AoI minion up front.

It does the same thing against the SoD as it does against the ExBow and the ELBow and the MoD: shifts target to the second minion. In this case, the front minion gets hit with 60k instead of 175k. If you want him to be hit with 0 dmg, you need to get actual Evasion. And, in this case, you would want the Evasion on the second minion in line, since the AoI shifts the target to that one.

AdminShade April 22 2009 2:05 PM EDT

so you say the explosion from an explosive shot should only go 1 way instead of 2 ways?
doesn't sound logical to me...

QBRanger April 22 2009 2:06 PM EDT

The AoI also does not protect mages from a mageseeker.

Nor a tank from an exbow or axbow.

Explosive shot - being invisible doesn't really help.
