Notice to new players (in General)

We do not bump up our own FS post every 2 hours.

This is to let others have a place at the top.

Typically every 12 hours is good form.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 27 2009 8:34 PM EDT

i thought jon changed it to charge per bump and allowed as many as one wanted to pay for?

Haloki April 27 2009 8:35 PM EDT

bump lol

QBOddBird April 27 2009 8:35 PM EDT

That is correct.

QBRanger April 27 2009 8:35 PM EDT

While there is no hard and fast rule, at 2k per bump, we can have the whole forums section clogged up.

It is typically good form to bump your own posts every 12 or so hours. There were threads like this in the past. I am just too tired to find them now.

However, if the community as a whole thinks that bumping your own post every hour is OK, I hate to see the effects of that decision.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 27 2009 8:38 PM EDT

Depends, if you have an auction ending in 4 hours and no bids, every hour would be ok I think. I think it's best that each person just use their brain and bump at their discretion.

QBRanger April 27 2009 8:39 PM EDT

It was changed to 2k per bump when the FS threads were changed to seller only posting.

He stated nothing about time frames.

Recently the FS threads got a no expiration ability.

But about 6-8 months ago, people were bumping their own threads every couple hours. And it was very annoying to see the top threads cluttered with the same FS threads. There was a discussion and most came to a 12 hour bump as a standard decorum.

Ranger, I don't really have any problems with you, but I really feel like you're the pot calling the kettle black here.

Yes, I realize that there were no bumps made, but there were an obnoxious amount of ridiculously priced FS/WTB threads posted in a clear effort to ridicule another user and their CBD prices. And please do not insult me by trying to convince me those were legitimate threads. It's a waste of both our time.

So many so that the entire front page was filled with them. I don't think that's any better than posting an bump every few hours.
Besides that, frequent bumping is not usually a problem. I am not sure why you are bringing it up all of a sudden, since I am looking at the front page and I only see your FS/WTB thread asking for double taps, and one asking for an insta on a FF...

Perhaps he is just trying to guide new users into the community of CB? And save them money?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] April 28 2009 12:19 AM EDT

I think he was referring too this thread. OB"s far from a nub o.O

Hakai [Aye Phelta Thi] April 28 2009 1:03 AM EDT

Actually, Kefeck, I'm fairly certain he's talking about this one, and this one.

But I fail to see how 2 threads being bumped a couple extra times is such an inconvenience. And before the argument goes towards, "a couple will turn into an epidemic", this is not the first time by far people have violated the 12 hour "rule".

QBOddBird April 28 2009 1:07 AM EDT

Actually, check out the bump time on mine and the post time on this one. I bumped like that because he made this thread.

If we're being totally honest here, I think Ranger's made this thread because newbies bumped his two FS/WTBs off the top and he doesn't like that.

Not that it matters, if they wanna waste their 2k bump every few hours, let 'em. After all, who are we to be the great morality people of CB? *grin*

DoS April 28 2009 1:08 AM EDT

Somebody's a little sensitive about this.

Rawr April 28 2009 1:30 AM EDT

Sorry I'll toughen up :)

Untouchable April 28 2009 2:07 AM EDT

this is all just a bunch of nonsense, i say!
