When did CoC get nerfed? (in General)

I was just fighting and noticing the damage from my CoC spell, and remembered a day when it would hit close to spell level...so I doublechecked the Wiki on it.

"The listed effect will asymptotically approach 22% of the spell level, and represents the maximum damage applied to each minion in a five-minion spread. The total damage, therefore, is the effect * 5, for a theoretical maximum of 110% of the spell level. When calculating AMF backlash, this is the value used, as AMF is sending a cone of cold to a single minion and not five minions."

My Cone of Cold is:

Cone of Cold (trained level) 1,990,000 (actual level) 1,990,000 (effect) 273,160

273,160 * 5 = 1,365,800 - nowhere near 100% of spell level, much less 110%.

When did CoC receive such a huge nerf?? Heck, if FB can hit 65% of its spell level, then it is as strong as my CoC...


Am I missing something really obvious here?

Ahhh, of course! That makes sense.

Guess the wiki needs some updating.

It is not like FB does any more damage proportional to CoC, just damage everywhere is nerfed.

Yeah, I gotcha. Still, the Wiki's going to need an update on what the potential damage for a given spell is, as they're all what, 166% of the correct damage?

There was the inital 10% damage nerf with the loss of protection followed by another one that reduced DDs by 1/3rd.

And even with these calculation you'll notice that you're still hitting much lower than expected. At least that's what is happening to me. I usually expect 1/2-3/4 damage of the theoretical max.

You asymptotically reach the theoretical max. You will never hit it.
