Why is the ELB unforgeable? (in General)

With the Salvage Yard and this thread:

Why is the ELS unforgeable?

One can simply transform it to a Bth, have someone forge the hell out of it, and transform it back.

This is an added expense. Is the ELS that much better as to require additional time/effort/money to forge it?

I thought forging was a way for people to save cash at a time penalty.

I wonder why some items are even unforgeable.

Blame Godwolf...

three4thsforsaken May 26 2009 8:21 PM EDT

Yeah, I feel like Jon simply did it for flavor. Doesn't really make sense game-wise.

I wonder why some items aren't forgeable only?

As all elven gear can't be forged so can't the els or elb. Meh why not?

QBRanger May 26 2009 8:47 PM EDT

I think it likely is as 3/4th stated.

I cannot think of why in a game play type of theater.

"I wonder why some items aren't forgeable only?"
BSing an item means letting the blacksmith forge it. Naturally, the blacksmith, being far more experienced at forging than any human player, is able to forge anything that a human forger can.

A dagger will not the Blacksmith's hands touch.

iBananco [Blue Army] May 26 2009 8:55 PM EDT

He will for a touney char.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 26 2009 8:57 PM EDT

Nooo my secret is out, pleaseeee don't change this.

QBRanger May 26 2009 8:58 PM EDT

AH,

So it seems this Blacksmith person has something against slow growing characters.

Interesting.

I'll forge someone's ELB/ELS for 105%. I'm very fast too.

Lochnivar May 27 2009 12:06 AM EDT

still better than DBs Cube.....

All elven gear is unforgeable. Seems pretty consistent. I like the twist of how some things aren't forgeable. Makes things spicy, like salsa dancing.

Greater than Master Yoda, Ranger is not.

If an item is unforgeable, wouldn't it make sense to remove it from the Salvage Yard?

That would ensure the only possibility of upgrading an ELS or ELB is by Blacksmith only, and removes the loop hole people have discovered.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] May 27 2009 3:18 PM EDT

even if it is a loophole people still have to pay the money for 2 more base weapons that way. So unless you are planning on forging a LOT onto the weapon at one time it is not worth it.

three4thsforsaken May 27 2009 3:21 PM EDT

Perhaps what the ELB really needs is a name change?

PearsonTritonRaveshaw May 27 2009 3:26 PM EDT

How about "A Master Blacksmith's Bow" or "Dwarven Bow" assuming the blacksmith is a dwarf.

QBRanger May 27 2009 3:44 PM EDT

Obviously the title of the post should have been ELS, not ELB.

As there is no ranged salvage yard.

QBOddBird May 27 2009 6:04 PM EDT

I like the idea of Elven stuff all being unforgeable. :D
