What song is on your mind (in Off-topic)

-Stuck in my head at the moment.

What song do you listen to on a constant basis?

QBJohnnywas July 8 2009 4:53 PM EDT

ha, Dude, I was listening to that last week. Love the Youth!

QBsutekh137 July 8 2009 4:58 PM EDT

Right now I have Monty Python's "Galaxy Song" from "Meaning of Life" stuck in my head. Actually, just about all the songs from that Monty Python's hits album...

I don't really listen to any one thing on a constant basis. Too much music out there for that. Though I do have a playlist at home I call "Need." Sort of a dynamic, visceral greatest hits. That usually has a mix of Alkaline Trio, TMBG, and then more recent faves...

Among many other Beatles in my head.

I heard this song at a restaurant yesterday. I bought their CD back in '96 and loved it.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] July 11 2009 9:10 AM EDT

^i love the refreshments!

sadly, they are no more. the singer has a country band that is called "roger cline and the peacemakers" though last i heard.

Demigod July 11 2009 10:42 AM EDT

I've got two of the Peacemakers CDs. They're fine, but not as good as The Refreshments.

Here's the Peacemakers' song Counterclockwise:

Unappreciated Misnomer July 11 2009 12:07 PM EDT

ah, Opeths - To Bid You Farewell(11min EPIC!)

I am awaiting the sunrise
Gazing modestly through the coldest morning
Once it came you lied
Embracin us over autumn's proud treetops

I stand motionles
In a parade of falling rain
Your voice I cannot hear
As I am falling again

Devotion eludes And in sadness I lumber
In my own ashes I am standing without a soul

She wept and whispered: "I know"

We walked into the night
Am I to bid you farewel?
Why can't you see that I try
When every tear I shed
Is for you?

Bah, no Indie kids? There has to be SOMEONE other than me who has good taste in music? Or at least can appreciate complexities in music (and I swear to God if anyone screams about Tool I'm going to kill them. Tool is not complex, they're terrible.)

And I guess this is just small-scale pop rock, but they've got a really solid first album.

And of course, the undisputed Indie rock-stars of 2008:

w!ms July 26 2009 4:44 PM EDT

I don't remember any songs by Tool but I know they exist and I remember a long time ago they had a music video that had claymation or something. Just wanted to share that with everyone.

NooneKnows July 26 2009 6:52 PM EDT

you're not the only one, Mushu -- Animal Collective = win; Vampire Weekend, not so much. haven't heard from Born Ruffians, but I enjoyed the track you posted.

Tool isn't complex, nor is it terrible - it's quite simplistic (except for the drums), but the lyrics make it interesting. it's (forgive the term) artsy rock; as such, it has its place in the ranks of good quality music. people who like hard rock and people who like alternative can find something to like in Tool.

I know somebody here will appreciate this.
